This split-level jewel in one of the most exclusive areas of San Miguel was completely renovated in 2014. The garden home's front entrance is through a common, gated, grand stairway shared with three other homes. It also has a private back entrance on a small privada where it is easy to park. One master bedroom opens to the back patio and is on street-level. The other master bedroom is eight steps up from there, while, the open living/dining room, kitchen, outdoor sala, studio/library and front patio is eight steps down from the street-level master. The master suites are furnished - one with a king-size bed and one with a queen-size bed. Both master bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The split-level nature of the house gives privacy and makes it very comfortable for a family or two couples. The studio is furnished with an antique day bed and the living room sofa is a queen size sleeper sofa. Beautiful boveda ceilings can be found in the downstairs master and the kitchen. On the rooftop, views of all the monuments are available as well as of the glorious sunsets and sunrises. The house is unique from most other SMA two bedroom, two bath homes in that it is filled with light; and has two lovely, 'ground-level' outdoor spaces. It is a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the jardin and no taxi is needed for the return trip since it is a relatively flat walk. One can walk down one of the first streets in SMA to get to the Jardin; or, as easily stroll down an exclusive calle with a pastoral setting. The owners continue to decorate it with art and crafts from Mexico, Central and South America.

About the owner: We are a mother and daughter team, one from Texas and the other from Louisiana, who know what 'la joie de vivre' means. The culture is in our blood.
Why the Owner Chose Ojo de Agua, San Miguel de Allende, Gto., Mexico:
Both have traveled extensively. The daughter, Therese, has traveled to San Miguel for summers the last 15 year; and, the mother, Lolita, has come the last several years. Both love San Miguel. Therese lived in many different neighborhoods, usually in a two bedroom/two bath house, unless she rented with friends, then she stayed in the six bedroom colonial in the historic centro. She had almost stopped looking for a house to buy thinking she was too picky and would never find something she could afford. The mother helped make the daughter's dream come true. They needed a house that was close enough in to walk to the jardin, with light, plenty of downstairs outdoor space, easy accessibility, with a garage, and quiet, in an established neighborhood. Therese knew it when she saw it. Lolita had renovations in mind and her vision made it even more spectacular as windows were added and the kitchen expanded and bathrooms redone or updated. The daughter envisioned a fountain and a beautiful roof top terrace with an incredible view in a true neighborhood. Casa PorVenir is truly a house 'For the future' and is named after Lolita's Colombian Grandfather's Finca. The name 'PorVenir' also was used by Therese's brother for a company. We hope the name brings as many blessings to our home and family as it has in the past.
