Charming Victorian Cottage is ready for your FUN FILLED or TOTALLY RELAXING get--a-way. The cottage has a fresh coat of paint (both inside and out) and a yard that invites one to slow down and relax to enjoy something blooming from frost to frost. The furnishings are a mix of family heirlooms (the dining table was my great grandmothers) and new furniture. Enjoy coffee (or cocktails) on the front porch (or back porch if you prefer). We are a friendly front porch community so don't be surprised to be greeted by folks as neighbors or vacationers pass by on their way to shops and restaurants on Mason Ave (Main Street only a block away), Central Park and the children's playground (only a half block away) or the beach (three blocks away). Rent a golf cart locally or take your car to the Marina (5 blocks) or the Bay Creek Golf Courses - one designed by Arnold Palmer and the other Jack Nicklas. There is an in-house book lending library, plenty of games, cable and WiFi.

About Mark L. Usry
Texan by birth I grew up in Oklahoma and first became part of the Cape Charles community in 1995. I enjoy the opportunities that are part of spending the last 33 years in higher education classrooms at James Madison University in Virginia for 20 years and currently at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. An empty nest dad of two with 3 four-legged furry family members.
Mark L. Usry purchased this Cottage in 1998
Why Mark L. Usry chose Cape Charles
This is my retirement home. This community is an eclectic mix of those who have been here for years and those that have relocated here more recently. It is a chosen community of many artisans, educators, professionals, workmen and entrepreneurs. This is a community that welcomes diversity - racial, faith traditions, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression - of all kinds, you will love it here if you are accepting of that diversity and ..... love amazing sunsets at the beach.
What makes this Cottage unique
A cozy home with a wide front porch and small back porch with a beautiful garden and amazing neighbors.

Wonderful home, very welcoming and comfortable.
I've rented this home several times and each time I love it more and more. Very welcoming and comfortable.
Great family friendly place!!!
We loved this place. It was clean and family friendly. It was very spacious inside with a cheery, bright exterior ... so homey feeling.. and I'd recommend it to others:)
Thank you so much. So happy you enjoyed my home. Come back soon.
Beautiful historic home!
Very relaxing vacation (except for Hurricane Florence) Lovely, well kept house in quaint laidback town....can’t wait to return for a longer stay!
Thank you for the compliments about my home and our town, come back soon for more relaxing!
Would definitely rent this place again
We've come to Cape Charles for a number of years, and have stayed in different places each year. This was our favorite place, yet. It was comfortable, well-appointed, clean, and SO close to the shops and the beach. Sure, everything in Cape Charles historic district is close to the shops and the beach, but when you are walking around with a few toddlers in the blazing heat every block counts.
The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. This is a well cared-for property and we felt truly relaxed here .
I am sure he had this in his materials, but in case you (like I) don't pay attention to the details, make sure you bring your own beach stuff like umbrellas, chairs, and toys. There is no outdoor shower, but we fared OK with the garden hose. There is only one shower inside the house, which worked OK for us because it was just our family, but if you were traveling with multiple couples it might be an issue. The room with the bunk beds (where we intended to keep our kids) has access to an open (and steep) staircase. We managed to block this off with a chair, but for very small children it might not be a good place.
All in all we loved it and hope to return!
Wonderful vacation in a beautiful home.
We loved our stay at the Kenner Cottage, the house is wonderful, well stocked with everything you need for a week at the beach. The yard is beautiful, very well kept. Cape Charles is a wonderful town, we have been coming for vacations for quite a few years now.
So happy to hear that you enjoyed my home and our community!
Thank you for the compliments.
We loved everything about the Kenmar Cottage! The location was very convenient to the beach, town, and the park. The house was well stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We especially loved evenings on the porch!
