About Natalie or Robert Martin

Natalie and Bob were high school sweetharts both growing up in Marquette, MI. Bob retired from banking as President and Natalie is a RN and certified massage therapist with a clinic in Marquette. They have extensive contacts in the Marquette area and can help arrange multiple activities.

Natalie or Robert Martin purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Natalie or Robert Martin chose Upper Peninsula

Natalie bought the property with plans to use it as a summer home. The log home is 1,800 sq.ft with all modern amenities including a sauna, two full baths, 3 bedrooms (one with bunk beds).

Internet, Bose surround sound both in the home and outdoors on the deck and patio provide the perfect setting to watch the waves roll in off Lake Superior. The home looks due north so you can watch both the sunrise and set!

What makes this cabin unique

Having the perfect view of Lake Superior you can marvel at the changes in the lake. One day it can be sky blue, the next slate gray. It can be calm as far as you can see (it's like looking out at the ocean!) and the next day be 10' waves!

Worth the money, accommodating owners.

Beautiful property, comfortable house. Access to washer/dryer would have been icing on otherwise delicious cake.

fantastic house, fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Loved my stay up in Big Bay. The house is wonderful, well-designed and a mix of log cabin and modern, and has everything you really need for a stay. The lake is wonderful and the areas was beautiful when I was there, which was near the peak of leaf changing season. Hosts Bob and Natalie were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Really couldn't have asked for anything better. Would definitely recommend a stay here!!

Owner's Response: Steve and his dog Molly were the perfect guests! They are welcome back any time. We agree fall color is a fantastic time to visit...but really the beach offers many great things to do during all four-seasons! Thanks Steven for the very gracious review!

Great Property/Location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is nicer than the pics and that was from my wife and daughter. Right on the beach with wonderful views. Lake Superior is the best. Inside the cabin is comfortable and homey. Stocked with all the dishes etc you will need as well as spices. Shower upstairs is wonderful. Do wish they had access to a washer and dryer but other than that this place has everything you need. Big Bay itself was a disappointment or maybe moreso the lumberjack tavey. One night we could not get waited on so we left, the next night it was closed when we went there at 730 and the 3rd night we were ignored (again) when there were only 5 other people in there. Maybe they somehow knew we were from Wis. The restaurant at the Thunder Bay Inn was great. There is a lot to do in the area as far as outdoor activity including some nice waterfalls to visit as well as some easy hikes to some peaks for views of the area. While we won't go back it is not because of this property. By the way, we saw the northern lights one night so that by itself was worth the trip.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate a review, thanks Skibby! We are careful to disclose there is no Traveler access to washer and dryer. The General Store close by in Big Bay does have a laundromat. We have heard the tavern in Big Bay has been sold as of September, 2016, perhaps that explains the poor service. Big Bay is a tiny little town so don't come for the night life! We agree the hiking, waterfalls and senic views are outstanding. Since our log home looks out due-north from the beach, seeing the northern lights is not unusual. Be prepared for a relaxing and quiet visit. Marquette is a short drive away and has a vibrant community of restaurants, theatre, symphony, brew pubs and festivals. With us you can have the best of both worlds. Check with us on the status of the local tavern and we'll fill you in! Bob and Natalie

The property is amazing! The pictures don't do justice to the over all beauty of the house & beach.

  • 5 of 5

From the amazing sunrises, gorgeous sunsets, clear water and beautiful home.... It's hard to pick a favorite thing about this property! The owners are accommodating and available, the house is welcoming and cozy and the private beach is relaxing and quiet. There is also so much to do around the area such as falls, trails and scenic look outs. This was our second year and I don't think we'll stop coming as long as they keep renting ☺️

This is a great house in a beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed for 4 nights in June. The house itself is fantastic, a rustic design with some beautiful personal touches. Outside, there is a large deck which opens onto a paver patio with a fire pit. Then onto the path to the beach. I think we saw around 10 people on the beach our whole stay. The view of the bay from the beach is breathtaking as well.

There are other houses nearby, but not much traffic, as this is a dead end street.

Bob and Natalie were great through our stay, as well as before and after. We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful Home and Location -Very Relaxing Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five, (parents and 3 teenagers) stayed 5 nights in June at La Bella Vita and we absolutely loved it! The log home is simply beautiful and everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation is provided. Although there are neighbors we felt as if we had the beach and Lake Superior to ourselves. So quiet and peaceful and very secluded. A perfect location for a get away. The views on the very clean beach are amazing and the beach is literally steps away from the patio. Waking up with a view of Lake Superior out your window is truly stunning. The owners take great care to ensure anything you need is available providing a very clean and gorgeous property. We especially enjoyed the fire pit on the patio and the beach with the amazing views of Lake Superior. The city of Marquette is about a 30 minute drive from the rental and there we found plenty to do- hiking, bike riding...

We highly recommend this property if you are looking for a relaxing stay in the Upper Peninsula. You will not be disappointed!
