About Natalie or Robert Martin
Natalie and Bob were high school sweetharts both growing up in Marquette, MI. Bob retired from banking as President and Natalie is a RN and certified massage therapist with a clinic in Marquette. They have extensive contacts in the Marquette area and can help arrange multiple activities.
Natalie or Robert Martin purchased this Cabin in 1992
Why Natalie or Robert Martin chose Big Bay
Natalie bought the property with plans to use it as a summer home. The log home is 1,800 sq.ft with all modern amenities including a sauna, two full baths, 3 bedrooms (one with bunk beds). Internet, Bose surround sound both in the home and outdoors on the deck and patio provide the perfect setting to watch the waves roll in off Lake Superior. The home looks due north so you can watch both the sunrise and set!
What makes this Cabin unique
Having the perfect view of Lake Superior you can marvel at the changes in the lake. One day it can be sky blue, the next slate gray. It can be calm as far as you can see (it's like looking out at the ocean!) and the next day be 10' waves!

Home is exactly as listed
We enjoyed our stay, loved the outdoor areas & being right on the quiet bay, I'm not sure we saw more than 2 other people during the week. House is exactly as advertised, very clean & they thought of all the little extras from firewood to charcoal for grilling. I would just mention this is a very rural area, although 20 miles West of Marquette, those 20 miles take about 45 minutes so plan ahead to get what you need.
Big Bay is 22 miles north of Marquette with a new Class "A" paved road with several lengthy passing lanes. Speed limit is 55mph once you leave the city of Marquette and it's a beautiful drive!
Excellent property and location
This home was perfect for an up-north Lake Superior vacation. The home, deck, and patio with fire pit was lovely. Access to the clean, sandy Lake Superior beach was just a few step off the patio. Overall, a completely satisfying experience.
Gorgeous inside and out
This was our third year in a row coming and we don't see that coming to a stop anytime soon! The views from the house are incredible, the sandy frontage is great for hanging out during the day and the fire pit on the porch is perfect for mid day snacks! We fell in love the first time and love it more each time we return. See you in 2018 :)
Wonderful Lake Superior Views
If you are looking for views of Lake Superior, then La Bella Vita is definitely a breathtaking view of a beautiful body of water. Big Bay, to me, is one of the best bays on Lake Superior; I can only compare it to Marquette Bay (perhaps too bright), Keweenaw (maybe too big) and Huron Bay (there are obviously others). But there was something about the water, wilderness and stars that made this place special. The cabin feels like a cabin yet has all the amenities you would expect from a home. The decor inside feels like the northwoods but more upscale. 1.5 miles from the cabin, you have access to a small store, gas station, and two restaurant type bars. Waterfalls are 5-10 miles away and epic hiking trails as well as small hiking trails are 5-25 miles away. Yellow Dog River, Sugarloaf, Alder Falls, Pinnacle falls and many more hikes are less than an hour away. Also, Marquette has over 20 bars/restaurants and is only 25 miles away. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
Worth the money, accommodating owners.
Beautiful property, comfortable house. Access to washer/dryer would have been icing on otherwise delicious cake.
fantastic house, fantastic location
Loved my stay up in Big Bay. The house is wonderful, well-designed and a mix of log cabin and modern, and has everything you really need for a stay. The lake is wonderful and the areas was beautiful when I was there, which was near the peak of leaf changing season. Hosts Bob and Natalie were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Really couldn't have asked for anything better. Would definitely recommend a stay here!!
Steve and his dog Molly were the perfect guests! They are welcome back any time. We agree fall color is a fantastic time to visit...but really the beach offers many great things to do during all four-seasons! Thanks Steven for the very gracious review!
Big Bay is a very quiet little community located 24 miles north of Marquette, MI. It is the perfect getaway if you are looking for a quality private stay on the sandy beach of Lake Superior.
La Bella Vita (as the home is aptly named) is a newly constructed log home right on the beach.
Four seasons of fun are easily accessible. Winter snowmobiling trail access is a short ride away right on your sled, no need to trailer!
