About Karen Green

We spent the past 25 years in Vancouver, myself as a Medical Lab Technologist and my husband as an Aircraft Maintenance engineer and decided it was time for a change. After years of hoping to live on the water and a lot of searching we found our place here in Campbell River. We are so joyful to be here and look forward to sharing our beautiful surroundings.

Karen Green purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Karen Green chose Vancouver Island

Campbell River is a dynamic location, offering an immense number of choices. Besides the ocean there are numerous lakes, rivers, and mountains and all the activities that go with those locations. But after a great deal of searching, we ultimately fell in love with this property and bought it within 24 hours of seeing it online! Another bonus is that our sister and children live nearby in Courtenay.

What makes this cottage unique

This property has a unique West Coast style, with a relaxing beach vibe . There is a welcoming warmth the minute you drive in which is also felt inside the cottage. Steps to the beach, a soak in the hot tub and a warm glow by the fire pit ensures a tranquil stay. We love it!

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Mitlenatch Cottage is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Campbell River area. It is just perfect for two people (and two dogs). The cottage is private but seconds from the waterfront. Karen and Andy are awesome people, they are super friendly and know the area very well. They directed us to the most beautiful places in the area.

When you step outside the cottage door at night and look up you will see a sky full of bright stars that hide from city dwellers. In the morning the eagles fly overhead just to show off.

All of this is 5 minutes from shops and supplies. If your looking for a cozy, private, pet friendly clean and generally happy place, Miltenatch Cottage is the place to go

A week and some in paradise

  • 5 of 5

One word can sum up our stay... Wonderful. The cottage was stocked with everything that you would need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Andy was accommodating and informative. Taz and the little dog were company while sitting enjoying the tremendous view. Laura, my spouse, did not want to leave. I rate this stay at 100%.

Cozy getaway, stunning views, beautiful hosts

  • 5 of 5

Upon arriving, the beautiful and friendly hosts Karen and Andy welcomed us into their home with big smiles to give us the rundown of the property. (fireplace, hot tub, beach access and cottage details) Their generousity was so natural and we immediately felt at home (and totally spoiled). Inside the quaint cottage everything was clean, cozy and well set up. Treats were left out, information on local events and activities was provided and the coffee was ready to brew. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils and fresh towels and robes were set out. Beautiful, quiet spot with such a wonderful atmosphere; the hosts truly make the experience special. Highly recommend!!

Delightful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was cozy and well equipped with all the amenities of home. Absolutely no complaints as the bed was comfortable, the surroundings tranquil, the cottage was very clean and the hosts were most helpful. Further, it was the perfect location for exploring Quadra Island and the northern part of VI. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and have recommended the property to friends who will be travelling to the Island in the spring.

What a cute cabin! It had everything we needed! Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this cabin was so peaceful and relaxing! The property was so lovely, looking across the Straight of Georgia to Quadra Island! The cabin was set behind the main house and just a short stroll to the ocean view and hot tub. The property is at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac and away from the noise and traffic of Campbell River, which made for very quiet and restful sleeping. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, cook ware, dishes, and the bbq on our own private porch was great too! Our hosts were very nice as well!

Comfortable, Quiet & Just right!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this comfortable & cozy cottage. The cottage was clean, well equipped with every convenience & a really comfortable bed. Andy & Karen are excellent hosts, friendly, welcoming & made us feel right at home. We loved the easy beach front access for our early morning walk. Should we return to Campbell River in the future we would not hesitate to make our first call to Andy & Karen to book this property again. We also liked meeting and spending time with Jigger & Taz. The homemade Peach Jam was yummy and appreciated.

Cheers!

Our Area: We are located on Vancouver Island, about 10k south of the city of Campbell River, on the waterfront, across from Mitlenatch (Meaning 'Calm Waters' in the Coast Salish language), a small rocky island in the Strait of Georgia. The largest seabird colony in the strait, this nature reserve is an important nesting colony for thousands of Glaucous-winged Gulls, pelagic cormorants, pigeon guillemots, black oystercatchers, rhinoceros auklets and many other species of birds. Marine life around the island includes River Otters and Harbour Seals throughout the year, and Steller's and California Sea Lions from late autumn through to early May.

The Campbell River Area: Our convenient location gives you quick access to the area’s many amenities.

Campbell River is renowned for it's world class fishing. There is a lovely 7-km waterfront Seawalk, where you can stroll, beachcomb or view the cruise ships in summer months. This region has many hiking and running trails, suitable for all fitness levels. Old growth forests, and lush scenery abound. It is easy to experience wildlife and nature in Campbell River, “super natural British Columbia”. On Sundays, Pier Street Market is a multi cultural event including local produce, home made goodies, and fresh seafood . Locals and visitors alike enjoy the ever-changing artisans at work. Skilled carvers, jewelers and musicians display their talents.

The Maritime Heritage Centre and Campbell River Museum is located nearby.

Exploring the local wineries is a nice way to spend an afternoon. At Beaufort winery the staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable.

During the winter months, storm watching is a less common but unique activity. Skiing at Mt Washington is also popular, about 45 minutes drive away.

We hope to see you soon, for your 'spectacular by nature' west coast experience.
