This wonderfully unique property is ideal for parties wishing to stay together while experiencing New Orleans. Groups have included graduations, small weddings, family reunions, business and yoga retreats. This is a full house rental. The property has a large indoor pool, piano, large horseshoe bar, two kitchens, huge living and dining area, recreation room with ping-pong, DVD, Direct TV, and nine private bedrooms (10 beds), each with its own full bath (Exception: two adjoining rooms on the second floor share a bathroom). Two bedrooms have futons in the rooms. Perfect for older kids. We have one pack-n-play. A bathroom, laundry, and shower is in the pool room.

New Orleans-styled decor throughout. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. The home is across the street from Pascal's Manale and Charlie's Steakhouse. French Truck Coffee, Il Posto - a french cafe, and Polite Society - a spa and salon are two blocks down on Dryades. Walk three blocks to the St. Charles Streetcar and head to the French Quarter, or hang out on nearby Magazine Street and Freret Street. This is a true, unique New Orleans experience.

WEEKLY RENTAL RATES: contact to see if your dates qualify for discounted weekly rate of $10,995.00 (good only when entering and departing on a Tues. Wed or Thurs., if not during Festival period). Contact us for festival rates also. Unfortunately we no longer accept bachelor parties.

The home's history:

4417 Dryades, like much of New Orleans, has an ambience all its own, with architectural features of different historical periods.

In the early 1900s, the Mexican Counsel to the United States purchased the property. A ceramic-tile pool with a unique domed ceiling were added in 1927. In 1972, the building was sold to become one of the first in a series of indoor scuba diving schools. Prior to our recent renovations, the property was a clothing-optional Bed & Breakfast.

Contact owner for festival rates. Festival rates are higher than the listed rates.

We are licensed with the city and have recently passed inspections by the city and state fire marshals. Certified fire extinguishers are mounted throughout the house and a fire alarm system was recently installed.

Why Rachele Basler chose Uptown-Carrollton

It is such a unique place with old New Orleans warmth, an indoor pool, and nine nice, comfortable individual rooms. The back patio is cozy and the backyard and large deck are comfortably spacious. The pool is 40' by 16'.

What makes this house unique

Three blocks from the St. Charles street car. Ten blocks from Magazine street where shopping and restaurants are abundant. La Boulangerie, a french bakery, is nearby and was voted best bakery in New Orleans. The property is across from Pascale's Manale and Charlie's Steak House. IL Posto Cafe, a great coffee house restaurant, is three blocks away on Dryades serving great sandwiches, salads, and wine.

This is a very unique house from 1927 that was originally the Mexican Consulate. It was a diving and snorkeling school after that. It is like a large bed and breakfast, with the common pool area with eating space and full kitchen.

Blue Lagoon

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a large group especially multigenerational families. AC a little erratic, but thanks to Leo's expertise, no problem! Pool area is excellent as a focal point for family interaction. Everyone having their own room with a bathroom ensures privacy when desired . Overall a great experience.

It was a great home for family or friends to get away together

  • 5 of 5

Dustin (owner) and Leo (caretaker) were great! We had an amazing weekend. Leo was quick to respond when we needed something. The rooms were comfortable. Great location; close to restaurants and public transit, but also in a quiet neighborhood.

Thanks for making our family wedding weekend a great success.

NJ Ladies (Theresa)

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house. We are a group of 12 middle age ladies. We go on vacation together once a year. The gathering area around the indoor pool and bar was perfect for all of us. We spend most of our time there. Each bedroom was unique and everyone was satisfied with there accommodations. The owner Dustin was absolutely wonderful with helping me answer any question I asked him. He even had someone do the food shopping for us the day we arrived. The caretaker Leo was awesome he was kind, sweet and so helpful with all our needs.

We also hired a private chef (Delishnola Cataering LLC) the dinning area seat all 12 of us very comfortably. I would recommend this to anyone who staying in this house.

What a perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this house! My daughter had a destination wedding in New Orleans (we are from SC). Both sets of parents and closest friends/family stayed here - 18 in all. The best part was the fact that the gathering area (around the bar and indoor pool) was perfect for friends to drop by and speak, have a drink, and enjoy each other's company. Dustin (the owner) was absolutely wonderful to work with, and accommodated our every need. Leo, the caretaker, and historian, was so helpful. He gave a great tour and checked on us prior to leaving to see if we had any questions. This house is perfect for couples, large families, or reunions. I highly recommend it and hope to one day go back! Only a couple of blocks from the St. Charles streetcar line, so very easy to get around. Each room in the house was unique and everyone enjoyed it.

Everything and more

  • 5 of 5

What a great way to spend time with 17 friends and family for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration! From the ease of making reservations with Dustin, the owner, to our arrival and tour of the home with Leo, the house manager, everything during our 4-day stay was fantastic. With plenty of privacy for each couple yet ample space for everyone to congregate, the house was amazing.

Each room has a private bathroom with tub or shower and plenty of towels. No need to pack a blow dryer, iron, shampoo or anything. The main kitchen became everyone's go-to spot to get the day started and the pool bar inevitably became the late night go-to spot to close out the night. The only thing you need to bring is groceries IF you want to cook, but if not, restaurants are literally steps away. The kitchens (yes, there's more than one) have every utensil, dish, or appliance you need.

The location is just a 2-block walk to the trolley stop at St Charles and Napolean, so the trolley route was an easy way to get downtown, to the Quarter, river front, casino or where ever you want to go. We pre-purchased Jazzy passes (3-day passes) for our guests to use so they could come and go as they pleased and no one had to worry about driving (which can be tricky with some of the very narrow and congested NOLA streets)

The private back/court yard provided us with an intimate space to have our vow renewal ceremony and then the main living area inside provided us with ample space for a small reception. I think we utilized just about every aspect of the home, except the backyard grill....but probably would have used that if we'd stayed longer. Even the washer and dryer was available for use if needed.

Our friends and family were just amazed and repeatedly kept talking about how great the house was and how nice it was to have room for everyone to relax, without being stuck in hotel rooms.

Dustin was simply great to work with during the reservation process and was quick to respond to any email questions. Leo is a wealth of information when he gives you the house tour and we had access to him 24/7. With a very minor plumbing problem we had the first night, he responded immediately and fixed the issue within minutes.

We had never rented a home or used HomeAway, but thanks to our stay at the Blue Lagoon in NOLA and the ease of working with Dustin, we will definitely consider it again. If you have a chance to book this house, DO IT. You won't regret it!

Incredible Property for Groups

  • 5 of 5

We are a disaster relief organization and had a group of college students coming in to volunteer for an alternative winter break trip. From our first contact with Dustin, he was incredibly responsive and accommodating in making sure all of our needs were met.

The property itself is magnificent with so much character to it! It is walking distance to cafes and restaurants, and just a short ride away from the French Quarter. I would highly recommend to any large group visiting the area.
