About the property

3 Bedroom / 2 Bath, Ski Mountain Views/Access To Miles Of Trails On Boreas Pass

Our Boreas Pass Cabin is a quintessential log cabin with covered porch 2.5 miles from Main Street Breckenridge and world class skiing. The cabin is the last house before the Boreas Pass trail head and the National Forest which means you walk out of the cabin and access miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, cross country and snowshoeing trails. The cabin sits up on a small hill offering great views of the 10 mile range mountains.

Over the last few years we have completed a major renovation of the cabin including a total kitchen remodel with new cabinets, granite counters and all new stainless appliances. All new windows were installed in the fall of 2015 as well. The cabin set-up is ideally for a family and sleeps a maximum of 8. Combine our recent renovation and the two bathroom remodels we completed a number of years ago and our mountain decorated 3 bed / 2 bath log cabin is a great place to call home for a week or so.

The main level of the cabin includes a family room with plenty of seating and room to cozy up to the wood burning stove. The newly remodeled kitchen is stocked with all the necessary dishes and pots and pans to entertain. Enjoy the view of mountain right from the kitchen table window!

The main level also includes 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, washer/dryer and a great mudroom. The first bedroom is the “bunk room”. This includes a traditional log bunk bed as well as a log trundle/day bed with a pull out bed beneath. The bunk room sleeps 4 individuals each with their own mattress. The other bedroom is the “guest room” that includes a full double bed. The bathroom was remodeled a few years ago and includes a tub/shower and heated tile floor to keep you warm on those cold snowy mornings. The side entrance into the mudroom was designed for skiers and boarders coming home from a long day on the mountain. Just kick off your boots, sit down and hang all your gear in the mudroom to dry for the night.

The upstairs “master bedroom” is a cozy loft like setting but fully enclosed and private. It includes a queen size log bed and private bath with tub/shower. The master bathroom was recently remodeled as well and includes heated tile floors.

About Mike and Mary

We are the Houlihans (Mike, Mary, Ned and Liam) and we live in Evergreen, CO about 75 miles from Breckenridge. When our cabin is not rented we thoroughly enjoy all Breckenridge has to offer with our two boys.

Mike and Mary purchased this house in 2009

Why Mike and Mary chose Northwest

The short version is before we got married we visited Breckenridge often. One of our favorite places we found to hike, bike, x-country ski and snowshoe was Boreas Pass. For years we would drive up Boreas Pass Rd and always noticed the cute log cabin on the hill just before the trail head. Fast forward 10 years and we were very lucky to be able to buy the cabin in 2009.

What makes this house unique

The cabin sits up on a small hill with great views of the Breckenridge ski mountain. It is the last house before BLM land and the Boreas Pass Trail. You literally walk out the front porch and you have access to miles and miles of trails. Two minutes from the cabin and you are in the back country. While the cabin is quiet and peaceful you are only 2.5 miles to downtown Main St and the ski lifts.

Beautiful, cozy mountain get away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cabin. It exceeded all expectations we had. It was extremely clean, cozy and felt like home. It was close to downtown Breckenridge, but far enough out where we got the true mountain escape experience. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you, Mike and Mary, for having us!

Best of all worlds in a VRBO home

  • 5 of 5

This home combines all the best features of VRBO. The owner is easy to reach and very responsive to questions and tips on local attractions. The view from the front is unbeatable and you are next to some excellent hiking and biking trails. The cabin is well furnished with a very home like feel and the beds are excellent. We have rented over a half of dozen VRBO homes and this is one of the best at a very reasonable price. You will love it.

Hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

We use the following criteria when renting on VRBO: cleanliness, comfort, and owner response. This cabin exceeded in all three!! In fact, we had such a great time my husband called the owners to see if we could extend our stay another night. He NEVER does that!

The cabin is far enough away from the town that our young boys had plenty of room to run and play outside, but close enough for skiing and eating in town. (Empire Burger was a great place to eat and kid friendly!)

The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The owners, Mike and Mary, were so sweet to answer all my questions. We will definitely rent this cabin again in the near future!

Perfect mountain get away!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is ideal for a relaxing stay in the mountains. I've always loved Breckenridge, but wanted something more remote than the usual ski lodges. The cabin's setting is absolutely perfect- surrounded by wildflowers, birds, trees, and an amazing view. We hung a hummingbird feeder and had nonstop visitors! The cabin is extremely comfortable and has a cozy feel- very nice accommodations and the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfy and the kitchen is very well equipped. We felt at home immediately! The private master bedroom and bath allowed privacy for G'ma and my two kids loved the bunk beds! The hiking trails just down the road were very convenient and the short drive on Boreas Pass into town is beautiful. We had initially booked a 3 night stay and loved it too much to leave. Mike was very accommodating and enabled us to stay a 4th night. Thanks Mike and Mary for sharing your beautiful mountain home with us, we will definitely be back!!

So exceptional we stayed an extra day!

  • 5 of 5

This authentic log cabin exceeded our expectations in every way! It was extremely clean with modern updates, decor and amentities that made us feel like we were at home. We added a 4th night after we arrived and were still sad to say goodbye to this place. We traveled with 2 small children, and this house was a great fit for our needs and even included an array of games and toys for both kids. We really enjoyed hiking the scenic property as well as the Boreas Pass trails right next to the home, and while it feels private and secluded it's a very quick trip in to town. Love this place, would love to go back and definitely recommend it to others if they want a picturesque and comfortable Breck vacation!

Quaint, clean, comfy... cannot say enough how great it is!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for a long weekend of 5 days. The best thing about it is the way they have so thoughtfully supplied this cabin where you have absolutely nothing to miss from your own home. They have kitchen supplies, tissue boxes in every room, sleds, snow shoes, clean towels... The accommodations are so comfortable and well kept. I really could not say enough about how great this cabin is. It is perfectly located, decorated and the lasting memories our family has after this stay are priceless! I highly recommend this adorable cabin.
