Quintessential Log Cabin - 2.5 Miles To Main St & Ski Lifts

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,300 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom / 2 Bath, Ski Mountain Views/Access To Miles Of Trails On Boreas Pass

Our Boreas Pass Cabin is a quintessential log cabin with covered porch 2.5 miles from Main Street Breckenridge and world class skiing. The cabin is the last house before the Boreas Pass trail head and the National Forest which means you walk out of the cabin and access miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, cross country and snowshoeing trails. The cabin sits up on a small hill offering great views of the 10 mile range mountains.

Over the last few years we have completed a major renovation of the cabin including a total kitchen remodel with new cabinets, granite counters and all new stainless appliances. All new windows were installed in the fall of 2015 as well. The cabin set-up is ideally for a family and sleeps a maximum of 8. Combine our recent renovation and the two bathroom remodels we completed a number of years ago and our mountain decorated 3 bed / 2 bath log cabin is a great place to call home for a week or so.

The main level of the cabin includes a family room with plenty of seating and room to cozy up to the wood burning stove. The newly remodeled kitchen is stocked with all the necessary dishes and pots and pans to entertain. Enjoy the view of mountain right from the kitchen table window!

The main level also includes 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, washer/dryer and a great mudroom. The first bedroom is the “bunk room”. This includes a traditional log bunk bed as well as a log trundle/day bed with a pull out bed beneath. The bunk room sleeps 4 individuals each with their own mattress. The other bedroom is the “guest room” that includes a full double bed. The bathroom was remodeled a few years ago and includes a tub/shower and heated tile floor to keep you warm on those cold snowy mornings. The side entrance into the mudroom was designed for skiers and boarders coming home from a long day on the mountain. Just kick off your boots, sit down and hang all your gear in the mudroom to dry for the night.

The upstairs “master bedroom” is a cozy loft like setting but fully enclosed and private. It includes a queen size log bed and private bath with tub/shower. The master bathroom was recently remodeled as well and includes heated tile floors.

About Mike and Mary

We are the Houlihans (Mike, Mary, Ned and Liam) and we live in Evergreen, CO about 75 miles from Breckenridge. When our cabin is not rented we thoroughly enjoy all Breckenridge has to offer with our two boys.

Mike and Mary purchased this house in 2009

Why Mike and Mary chose Breckenridge

The short version is before we got married we visited Breckenridge often. One of our favorite places we found to hike, bike, x-country ski and snowshoe was Boreas Pass. For years we would drive up Boreas Pass Rd and always noticed the cute log cabin on the hill just before the trail head. Fast forward 10 years and we were very lucky to be able to buy the cabin in 2009.

What makes this house unique

The cabin sits up on a small hill with great views of the Breckenridge ski mountain. It is the last house before BLM land and the Boreas Pass Trail. You literally walk out the front porch and you have access to miles and miles of trails. Two minutes from the cabin and you are in the back country. While the cabin is quiet and peaceful you are only 2.5 miles to downtown Main St and the ski lifts.

This was one of the best VRBO properties I have ever stayed at! Everything about this cabin was perfect! Extremely clean and incredibly inviting. We didn't even want to leave we loved it so much! The location and views were the best!!! Would love to stay here again in the future!

I loved this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I could not have asked for a better experience coming to Colorado for the first time. This cabin personifies what I always envisioned Colorado to be. Our very first morning we looked out the back window and not 5 feet away was a very large black bear. We had a fox the owners call Skinny Eddie visit us everyday (once on the front porch!) and the last day before we left in the morning there was a deer calmly eating grass on the front lawn. Beautiful! The cabin was perfect on the inside and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this cabin.

Perfect location

This cabin is just perfect. We are a family of four who spent a week in Breck over spring break. Everything was close to the cabin and the cabin was perfect. Everything we needed was there. Will def rent this cabin again. We loved it.

Beautiful, cozy mountain get away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cabin. It exceeded all expectations we had. It was extremely clean, cozy and felt like home. It was close to downtown Breckenridge, but far enough out where we got the true mountain escape experience. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you, Mike and Mary, for having us!

Best of all worlds in a VRBO home

  • 5 of 5

This home combines all the best features of VRBO. The owner is easy to reach and very responsive to questions and tips on local attractions. The view from the front is unbeatable and you are next to some excellent hiking and biking trails. The cabin is well furnished with a very home like feel and the beds are excellent. We have rented over a half of dozen VRBO homes and this is one of the best at a very reasonable price. You will love it.

Hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

We use the following criteria when renting on VRBO: cleanliness, comfort, and owner response. This cabin exceeded in all three!! In fact, we had such a great time my husband called the owners to see if we could extend our stay another night. He NEVER does that!

The cabin is far enough away from the town that our young boys had plenty of room to run and play outside, but close enough for skiing and eating in town. (Empire Burger was a great place to eat and kid friendly!)

The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The owners, Mike and Mary, were so sweet to answer all my questions. We will definitely rent this cabin again in the near future!
