We recently enjoyed a family reunion in Lancaster, and were fortunate to find this beautiful house! Everything is arranged to make you feel welcome and "at home". The pictures do not show all the unique and lovely aspects of the home and garden area - it is truly a beautiful property. We had a wonderful time together, and the Breckbill House made our stay even more special. We will be back!
Peaceful family getaway in the heart of Amish Country
Three generations of our family recently stayed at this home. It exceeded our expectations and was central to so many activities. We spent a day in Philly, a day in Hershey Park, a couple days touring around the Amish country side and a day in Washington DC. It was nice to always come home to what my grand-daughter called our PA Home.
The home is very well maintained, the owners attentive to detail and the quality of the amenities are great. This home will definitely be on our list of places we want to visit again!
A lovely home nestled in the countryside with gorgeous views of Amish farms, a beautiful barn and a pond. Perfect for a quiet getaway with friends or family. Beautifully decorated with a well stocked kitchen. We can't wait to return again!
Perfect home to build memories~this house is something special!
Stayed at this wonderfully clean and beautifully renovated farmhouse in January. Plenty of room for both togetherness and privacy. House has been lovingly renovated to include all modern conveniences but still captures the essence of the time period and area. Close to many attractions, but still felt "away from it all" too. Beautiful vistas as far as the eye can see. Although it was in the teens and 20's during our visit the house was warm and inviting. The lower level bedroom/den rec room were a bit chilly but we managed, the owners provided a space heater to help with the cold. Kitchen was very well stocked, we made all our meals at the house and never needed anything additional. Many of the rooms had fireplaces but there was an additional fee to use all but the one in the living room. The mattresses were comfortable, the many bedrooms offered differing types of firmness, depending on your sleep preferences. The grounds were lovely with firepit, wrap around porch and decks, swing set plus of course the pool, which was closed during our stay, but looked lovely. Parking was terrific and the surroundings were quiet and private. No noise whatsoever from the surrounding businesses and farms.
The owners provided soaps, paper products, and other kitchen supplies which was a wonderful bonus, something many rental properties don't offer! Ashley, the property manager, was so pleasant and professional to deal with. She answered all of our questions and accommodated any requests we had. Check in and check out went seamlessly. I highly recommend staying at the farmhouse, you will be glad you did!!
Gorgeous and well appointed home (Dec 29 - Jan 2)
A group of 13 of us rang in the New Year at Brackbill House. This was our 4th year in a row renting a house for the NYE weekend and this was by far our favorite. Gorgeous views, old world charm, and modern amenities; this home has it all. It’s cozy and inviting; we barely ventured outdoors as there was really no need. I imagine it’s just as lovely in the warm summer months but we enjoyed warming ourselves by the fire (6 gas fireplaces!) and enjoying each other’s company while the snow fell and enveloped us in a dreamy winter wonderland! The kitchen has everything you need to cook for a large group. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the master bath is a gem. All in all, we cannot recommend this property enough, for any occasion. Gap, PA is a charming little town and the house is conveniently located within minutes of stores and restaurants while still being situated in an area with stunning views. Ashley couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant to communicate with. We will be back- and soon, I hope!
Totally Enjoyed our Stay!
The house is just lovely. It's in a great location allowing us to see everything we wanted to see.
The only complaint would be there are several gas fireplaces. They charge an extra fee per fireplace to run them. The only fireplace included in the price would be the main one being it's the only source of heat in that room.
While enjoying the picturesque countryside, this property still has convenient access to many amenities. Within walking distance is the Houston Run Community Center, which contains a public library and Gap Community Church. For places to eat within a few miles there is a Friendly’s, McDonald’s, Subway, a local diner, a Chinese restaurant, and several pizza establishments. There are dozens more dining options within a 15 mile radius, including the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord. For groceries you have a full service store, Weis Markets, approximately 1 mile away. If you want to do some shopping, within 10 miles you have the Rockvale Square and Tanger Outlets, Target, Kohl's, and numerous other stores. For entertainment there is the Sight & Sound Theatres, American Music Theatre, Dutch Wonderland amusement park, Strasburg Railroad, Kitchen Kettle Village, hot air balloon rides, horse & buggy rides, and many more PA Dutch Country attractions all within 10 miles. Approximately an hour's drive Northwest is Hersheypark. Downtown Lancaster City is located about 15 miles away and features The Fulton Opera House, fine dining, night life, and Lancaster’s own minor league baseball team, the Lancaster Barnstormers. Located conveniently at the 'hub' of eastern Lancaster County you are right near the intersection of Route 30 and Route 41. Within approximately an hour's drive you can be to the major metropolitan areas of Harrisburg (West), Philadelphia (East), Reading (North), and Baltimore, MD (South). All while being nestled into the peaceful agricultural landscape that is the PA Dutch Country.
