About Madelaine Kuns

We are a young couple that happily invites you into our home. We are currently in the US for work and want you to be able to be a part of our lives for a week, 2 weeks, or however long you happen to be in Rome. We think you will find it as enchanting as we do.

Why Madelaine Kuns chose Rome

This property has been in my husband's family since the late 1800's and they still occupy two of the three stories of this 17th century building. The building was once part of an ancient Catholic Fraternity, converted into a hospital in the 1800's and then sold off piece by piece to maintain the Church, that you will see upon arrival located next door.

What makes this apartment unique

When you walk out the front door of our apartment you will feel like you have taken a step through a time machine to the heart of the Italian Rennaissance. Not only will you fall in love with the neighborhood, but you are so close to the major sites that you will be able to visit wherever you like by morning, enjoy a wine filled lazy Italian lunch mid-day and catch a Siesta all before hitting the town in the afternoon for an aperitivo and an amazing cena.

Opening the 6 foot windows of our apartment you will be privy to an amazing view over looking the gardens of the Spada Palace, home to the Italian Council of State. It also a small museum housing Cardinal Spada’s private collection, dating back to the 1500’s, and Borromini’s Forced Prospective Gallery. This Palace is a gem find that is not easily found in the guidebooks!

Beautiful apartment, great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely 3rd story walk-up apartment within walking distance of many major sights in Rome, located on a quiet side street in an interesting, lively neighborhood. Comfortably furnished, nice bedding, eat-in kitchen. Plenty of information was provided by the owners, and family members live in other units of the building. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here--it added so much to our experience in Rome!

Lovely home, wonderful help from sister in law.

  • 3 of 5

The only negative was a great amount of noise from preparations for a child's birthday and sometimes this went on for hours. Great people, wonderful neighborhood and it felt like a home, not a hotel.

Magnifico!

A lovely and very comfortable apartment for two people, in one of the best locations in Rome. A real home away from home. We loved it and will be back.

This is a dream home base in Rome. As all the previous reviews say, the location is perfect--central yet down a quiet side street. The apartment itself is still quieter, since the sunny main rooms, including the luxurious master bedroom, face the lovely garden--orange trees, fountain!--of a working convent. The spacious, well-equipped eat-in kitchen allows a glimpse of the Palazzo Farnese (tip: you can now tour the palace, with its famous Caracci frescoes, but you have to reserve at least a week in advance). The wonderful food in the market & corner gourmet store in Campo dei Fiori tempted us to eat at home, while the many great nearby bars & restaurants drew us out. The furnishings & decor combine charm & comfort, and the fact that you are in a family home makes you feel like a real Roman. The family themselves, as other reviewers note, are warm and helpful hosts; it was especially great to have our transportation to & from the airport all arranged. We couldn't have loved this place more.

Excellent apartment

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The location cannot be beat; it is directly across from the beautiful Palazzo Farnese, and just steps away from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Farnese. A somewhat longer walk takes you to Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and all the beautiful areas of Baroque Rome.

The apartment is spacious and well appointed. We found it to be clean and well laid out. Dealing with Madelaine was not difficult and Francesco's sister, Chiara, who lives downstairs was a pleasure to deal with. She fully explained everything we needed to know about the apartment and gave us tips as to location of stores, restaurants, etc. She also promptly came to the apartment upon our request to help us deal with the rather quirky washer and dryer. I recommend the apartment without reservation.

Perfect Roman Holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect Roman holiday. The location is ideal for walking to all the sights and restaurants. The local food shops are excellent. The apartment is exactly as pictured on the site with large bright windows and all the amenities. What you do no see is the most comfortable mattress ever. We appreciated the web connection for the names and locations of restaurants and services nearby as well as the arrangement for airport transport. We have already recommended the apartment to others. Our hosts have could not have made us more comfortable or welcome.

The apartment is located on one of the most charming streets of the Campo de’ Fiori quarter in between the Farnese Palace (present day French Embassy) and the Spada Palace – both ornate palaces of great importance – constructed in the 1500’s. The major thoroughfare of the district, Corso Vittorio, is just 300 yards away. Along the Corso run major bus lines connecting to all points of the city. The most colorful fruit and vegetable market in all of Rome is just a minute walk from the front door.

The important historical sites of Rome are all within a ten-minute walk including Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trastevere, and the Vatican at a distance of 15 minutes by foot. The Coliseum and Forum are a 30 minute walk through the historical center or easily reached by bus from Corso Vittorio in 10 minutes.

In the immediate vicinity there are pharmacies, bread shops, meat shops, convenience stores and supermarket. The nearest hospital is just 1000 yards away. The best nightlife of the city is concentrated in the immediate vicinity including world-famous restaurants like Pierluigi, Camponeschi, and Antica Pesa. Not only are there fantastic restaurants in the vicinity, but Campo de’ Fiori transitions from market by day to best bar scene by night.
