Overview

About the property

Charming Home In Historic Walpole Village - Sleeps 10

The home was built in 1854 and is fully updated with many of its original features intact. If you are interested in a village rental it is in a terrific location in town where a very good coffee shop is steps away as are several good restaurants and a very good, small high quality grocery and butcher. Walpole is an absolutely beautiful, very well preserved historical town with a colonial common. This is an all-seasons location. Enjoy snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing in Winter, leaf peeping, apple and pumpkin picking in fall, swimming holes, mountain biking, kayaking, and year-round hiking at nearby Mt. Ascutney or Mount Manadnock. Conveniently located on the border of Vermont with easy access to both Brattleboro, VT and Keene, NH.

It's also a great house/base to ski from given the number of Southern Vermont and New Hampshire ski areas that are reasonably close. Those who want to ski can do so while others in the family/group can shop or pursue other activities.

Perfect for large family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Like others, we rented this lovely home while in Walpole for the weekend for a wedding. Very comfortable, clean and convenient. Walk to cute shops and 10 minute drive to Alyson's Orchard venue.

Perfect. Vermont Academy Graduation

  • 5 of 5

This house is great. It sleeps a lot of people, it's well stocked with more than just the essentials, and is very convenient to Vermont Academy in Saxtons River. We cooked for every meal with the exception of a graduation luncheon at the Walpole Inn, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this house. All you need are your clothes, they provide everything else.

Perfect New England Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I booked 2 Main Street for a reunion with five friends who were coming from the US, Canada and Europe. We loved the place. It was better than I had expected. The house was well appointed, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen and sitting areas were spacious. We loved being able to walk into Walpole for coffee, groceries and shopping, and we had a great time at Alyson Orchards one afternoon. When we had a question about the TV, Andy responded quickly to my email. I'd recommend this rental to any group. Families with very small children might want to take a look at the bedroom layout, since there are two bedrooms in one wing and three in another, and they are widely separated.

Great location not far from Alyson's Orchard where wedding was held, the family stayed at home. there was eight total and was comfortable for all of us, especially the kitchen/dining area. we could walk to town for lunch and dinner and just relax on the side porch.

Wonderful property in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property in August for my nephew's wedding in nearby Putney, Vermont. The house is absolutely beautiful, well supplied and very clean. It offered enough bedrooms and bathrooms for my husband and I and our three adult sons and girlfriends, with a large kitchen and eating area. We could easily walk to the village for lunch (Walpole Village Grocery--great sandwiches) and just to stroll. The owner provided excellent information about local grocery stores, hiking opportunities, restaurants and more. We would love to return to Walpole and stay in this house again.
