Very cozy get away!! On the Woodland Hills/Calabasas border.This Is Not A Share! This Is Not Some Noisy Apartment! You have the entire place to yourself.This property is newly listed to Vrbo however on other sites there it has over thirty great reviews! Please feel free to utilize the blue 'instant booking button on the site. .. If you decide this is the place for you and yours,and it is a last minute booking (three days or less before you arrive) you must send a request via email to book. Without that prior contact on a last minute booking ,we will most likely decline your request. Please leave a telephone number so that we may give you a quick call .However...please if you or any person in your party is a smoker, do not book this home. There will be a "dishonesty penalty" charged to you if you smoke anywhere on the premise.OK...with that bit of info out of the way..,

Centrally heated and cooled.Tall vaulted ceilings. Wood bedroom floors.(2) fun, yet tastefully styled bed rooms. One with french doors that look out onto one of the 'two' 'garden patios' through french doors. The linens are of sufficient thread count and are impeccably clean.(I clean them myself). A bathroom with a 'full bathtub',and not just a shower. You can be assured of peaceful uninterrupted nights sleep because (1) the intentionally designed, outside noise sound resistant construction of the cottage,(2)the house is situated on an almost twenty thousand square foot Gated Compound,(3) this is Not An Apartment Or Condo whereas you are 'held captive' to the whims of noisy partying or fighting neighbors...This is a completely detached building with total privacy as it's sole design mission.(4) The house is situated almost two hundred feet off of the main thoroughfare.

We provide cotton towels and hair dryer for the fully tiled cozy bathroom. .

The kitchen is fully appointed ,including a microwave,full sized refrigerator, full stove , toaster,spices that would satisfy most palettes,dishes,and an assortment of pots and pans. An array of gourmet teas and coffee are there for your enjoyment. There is a clothes washer and dryer solely for your use*(Due to the drought,the washer and dryer are strictly for stays of one week or longer.If you are not planning your stay for a week or longer please do not request use of the washer or dryer. It is awkward and uncomfortable to have to say no.) Also because of the drought the dishwasher may not be used)

The step down living room is a combination of Mediterranean 'shabby chic' blended with an 'American Santa Fe' that gels nicely from the brightly waxed Spanish tiled floors to the Ornate tall arched ceilings with Casablanca ceiling fans..The place has french doors every where that give it a bright and sunny 'inside garden feel" during the day ,and the carefully arraigned wall sconces set the mood for either romantic to highly festive for the night. Flat screen television and 'wi-fi' are included. .

Step out of the french doors to either one of the two private patios for a relaxing glass of wine . The Barbecue pit with complementary coals will give you the chance to flex those 'out door culinary skills' you haven't used in quite some time..

Best of all its an easy short drive through 'back road beautiful mountain scenery' direct to Malibu Beach California .Lots of hiking and biking trails,(2 complementary bicycles available..."use and borrow at your own risk".). 'High end 'shopping abounds well within easy walking distance.Conveniently situated between the Calabasas Commons,(as seen frequently on TMZ and other shows), and at least four other shopping malls and stand alone boutiques abound. There are also plenty of' Gourmet' restaurants for every taste and palate . Public transit is within blocks to take you to local places like Hollywood, Universal studios, Venice Beach, and such.There is no need to base your 'home away from home' in any one of those congested areas when within a few minutes you can be there.Lets face it, most Vacations to 'Big Cities' aren't very relaxing... Where you are able to go and really 'unwind' is what makes all of the difference.

Folks,because we "are not" a hotel therefore there is no concierge service. So unless otherwise approved by us,and arrangements have been made, well before your arrival date, (as in ,written permission"the day" you make your travel arrangements),we will not accept vacationers after 9 o''clock PM. We are in bed.No exceptions. Valid identification also credit card used to book for all guest must be presented at time of check in for check into be complete.Guest must contact host(via email, no texts) at least forty eight hours ahead of time to notify as to what time plane arrives if arriving via plane. Guest must still contact host at least 48 hours before even if they are arriving by car. If you do not call ,please do not expect us to be anywhere near prompt to greet you. We say this because not only do we have lives as you do too,.. Folks, this is Los Angeles. Hundreds of square miles big ,and 20,000,000 people. If you dont have a concern that you may have to wait for hours to get entry into the house because you didn't call, We cant either.Due to safety concerns and a strictly enforced Privacy Policy for all current vacationing guest, also ourselves,.. We do not give the address or allow"drive byes" of the property to any potential vacationers or their surrogates. Please do not ask.The complete address will only be given to guest three days before your arrival date. However the zip code is 91367 for any other of your planning needs.

This is a gem! Tastefully decorated, immaculate

I was so impressed with this cottage. Very clean and well-stocked- bright and full of natural sunlight; it is in a great area- within walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. Rich was a delightful host, always available and genuinely interested in how our stay was going. We stayed for a month and it truly felt like "home!"

Cute, comfortable cottage in a great location

Small, but quaint and enough space to use as a home base in LA. Close to major highways to take you downtown, to the beautiful beaches, or many of the other exciting locations in the area. The place was clean and had a full kitchen. Met the owners Rich and Eva and they were very sweet, helpful and they welcomed us with a warm and friendly hospitality. I will definitely start my search for a place to stay with them the next time I visit LA.

Exceptional Stay

My husband, 4 year old son and I came to Los Angeles in December to celebrate an early Christmas with my sister's family. We decided to book this trip last minute, and were ecstatic to have found such lovely accommodations on such short notice. The house was very spacious, and had a really cool old world Mediterranean theme. Rich and Eva were darling, and they made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We are grateful for their hospitality, and will definitely book with them again!

By far more than expected...

I dealt with an unfortunate plumbing issue at my house and needed to find some where local to stay while the repairs were being completed. Luckily I came across this warm and cozy gem which exceeded my expectations- by far. I absolutely loved the French doors and overall styling of the house, the pictures don’t it justice. It’s very well kept, well stocked and provides a great amount of soothing natural light. What I thought would be just a temporary solution during stressful time turned out to be a relaxing and very comfortable mini staycation. The hosts, Rich and Eva were great; very attentive and responsive. Would highly recommend staying here.

Nice place, a few problems

Cute, nice sitting area and a faux fireplace/heater. Well located near freeways, etc., yet very quiet.


1) Main bedroom is very small. On one side there was a shelf mounted on the wall, but on the other side no space for a bedside table. Kindle, glasses, water, etc., all had to be put on floor.

2) 3-4 earwigs came into the sitting area daily. Annoying. Perhaps unavoidable given the garden outside and the rain?

3) 2) The bed had an old coverlet, no blanket/comforter - we had to use the blanket from the 2nd bedroom.

4) The main reason for only 3 stars is that the thermostat was a NEST pin-protected one with the temperature fixed at 68 degrees. We had to wear our coats in the morning while having coffee/breakfast and in the evening while keeping the "fireplace" heater running all of the time. Have never rented a room where I could not set a temperature on the thermostat to be comfortable for me! Concerned about cost/energy usage? Then put a sign on the door asking me to turn it down when I go out. But don't tell me I can't adjust it myself...

Eve was very nice at our arrival. Only dealt with Rich by phone, but he felt very grumpy to me. Perhaps that was due to the fact that we did not get off to a good start when we made the rental (mostly my fault). However, we called from Trader Joe's en route to ask if there was coffee or other food there, or should we buy that as well. Rich told me in an annoyed tone that the kitchen had appliances, etc., but no food. When we got there Eve showed us the bottled water and coffee they left for us in the fridge, and there were an assortment of teas and spices there as well. (Previous reviewers commented on the well-stocked kitchen, but I did not remember that, and we were in the middle of shopping when the question arose...)

(The dishwasher was not working on our arrival, so Eve provided paper plates, etc. for us.

All in all, cute place with potential. Refreshing the linens and providing a comforter (which obviously would not be needed in the summer in L.A., but nice the rest of the year) would add a lot and not be expensive. (Both we and our children have condos that we rent out, so we speak from some experience.)

Owner's Response: Wow! Not sure if this sort of review is worthy of a response. I purposely avoided any contact with the author of that review. Have you ever met people that appear to be in a permanent state of agitation? That review is an example of permanent agitation woven into review form. I am surprised to see the author admits to any wrong doing . Though they did down play the degree quite a bit. Oh well.. First and foremost folks, just as the listing states, this is a cozy "Cottage". Not an enormous 1,000 dollar a day suite at Waldorf. 2) As for the quilted comforter. A intentionally factory faded design and "almost new". A very quaint,Old Mediterranean shabby chic design.." Not threadbare" old. Spare blankets and clean linen neatly folded in a linen closet if one cared to look.If they had asked, the guest would have reminded of this.Their entire stay was only "three days". 3) Eva asked the guest on two everything satisfactory? No complaint.The guest were not in agreement between themselves as to what the temperature was to be inside the cottage. That is why we have "two" separately controlled heater systems in the cottage. One automatically centrally controlled central heating ..And one manual "guest controlled" forced air that is more than capable of running even the most cold blooded thin skinned person out of the place. We dont get involved in disputes between husband and wife . We've been at this a long time. We've seen this scenario play out many times. Invariably we are the bad guy. Just as in this case. Hence the reasoning for the "Please turn the off the heater " sign as you walk out of the door." I'd also point out that Eva was quietly "pulled to the side" and given a request to turn off the automatically central heating by one of the two in the party that proclaimed that "he personally runs hot and he will set the temperature for both in the party". We never did turn it off completely . We wont set the unit below 68 degrees precisely because of disagreeable situations like this. They left the french doors opened every day rain or shine,that is why a few bugs came into the house.Close the doors ,no bugs! Who would have guessed! Last but not least ,the dishwasher..As our listing clearly points out.."Due to the Southern California drought, the dishwasher will not be in service. This is a water conservation measure. For convenience, the paper plates,forks ,and cups are "always" in the cupboard for picnics and hiking trips.

Cute little cottage

This place was fine for the price paid and it served the purpose we needed it for. Wish the description on the listing would have more throughly painted the picture of the setting of the cottage.

The place was fairly clean, was stocked with the neccesary items. Second bed was not as shown in the pictures. Owner offers a bottle of wine for the guests.
