Returning next year!

This is a lovely suite in a very nice house in the Fairfield area of Victoria, BC. We love Cook Street and the Fairfield area in general. A short walk takes you to Beacon Hill Park (great for young and old), Dallas Road (a walk along the water with lots of happy people and dogs) and downtown where lots of shops, restaurants and pubs beckon not to mention the harbour area with the outstanding Legislative Building and the very fine Empress Hotel.

Victoria's bus service is excellent so if you tire yourself out on the walk around downtown you can just hop on the bus and ride home. We have never bothered to rent a car because walking and public transit are so convenient, but renting a car would allow drives to the many other scenic spots on the Island close to Victoria and further afield.

There are usually cultural events of various kinds available. This year we much enjoyed two short plays presented by the Intrepid Theatre club for Target theatre. Bed Among the Lentils was a favourite. Good food is everywhere: Il Terrazzo, Zambri's, Lemongrass Thai, Masala Bites and the ever satisfying Beagle Pub plus many more. Munroe Books, Russell Books and Murchies not to be missed downtown. Good grocery and liquor shopping a few steps from the suite on Cook Street for your in-suite dining and entertaining.

Elizabeth is a terrific host and ensures that her suite is welcoming for her guests. Comfortable beds, excellent bathroom and laundry facilities, great cooking possibilities and relaxing, spacious entertaining areas await you. Lovely outside patios front and back for warmer months.

We had a wonderful time escaping a few weeks of our prairie winter and are planning to go back next year.

Highly Recommend

  • 5 of 5

We have just completed our six week stay and have only good things to say. The accomodation is first rate in every respect and the location in Cook Street Village is within walking distance of both downtown and the ocean. Lots to see and do within just a few minutes walk. If you do need a car you can walk to car rental location too. Communications with owner were excellent too. We highly recommend and hope to return.

Fabulous location, fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a 4 night stay here and absolutely loved it. Firstly the location; right in the heart of Cook Street Village, but located in a very quiet, tree lined street. Within 5 minutes walking distance from a number of eateries, the pub, general grocery store and organic store as well as a number of other shops in the Cook Street strip. Within easy walking distance to downtown Victoria harbour area (approx. 25 - 30 mins) either through the beautiful Beacon Hill Park or via some scenic streets. If you walk the other way, you come to the ocean in about 10 minutes and there is a scenic walking path with ocean views. Beacon Hill park has a playground for kids and is very pretty. I would say that this is pretty much the ideal location as it's away from the craziness of downtown but close enough to access it easily enough.

Secondly the apartment; 2 large bedrooms, both with extremely comfortable king size beds. 2 bathrooms (one with bath). Well equipped kitchen. Some of the décor is a bit "cottagey" but we loved the comfort and homeliness of the apartment. We really felt like it was a home away from home.

There are 2 outdoor terraces with furniture and parking is on-street and we always got a park right outside the door.

Elizabeth was so friendly and forthcoming with local information and restaurant recommendations.

I can't recommend this apartment highly enough. Would definitely stay here if we visited Victoria again.

Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a few weeks ago & found the house clean, comfortable & stocked with all the things we needed in a kitchen. They even had a nutribullet so we could make our breakfast smoothies. I can only echo earlier reviews of how we were happy with such a great location within walking distance to quaint eateries, the beach & Beacon Hill Park. Its great for a relaxing vacation in a quiet neighborhood. Wifi worked great. My only recommendation to the owners is to put up a curtain in the back bedroom on the small window for those guests who like a darker room to sleep in. :)

Another wonderful visit!

  • 5 of 5

We had another wonderful stay at this property - this time we were two couples for which the suite is perfectly configured. The last time we stayed was in the winter so we didn't use the patio which added another lovely element to this visit. The high-end linens, appliances and exceptionally well-stocked kitchen was as it had been last time. The manager is responsive and helpful; the location couldn't be better for proximity to the ocean and downtown. We will be back!!
