About Lisa Cooper
I am an artist who has lived on Hatteras with my husband, also an artist, for 39 years. I now continue to live and work on Hatteras by myself. I play guitar and other instruments, sometimes in local venues. My work is part time at a beautiful gallery in Avon called Kinnakeet Clay, where I create various items from slabs of clay that we sell in the gallery.
Lisa Cooper purchased this Studio in 1987
Why Lisa Cooper chose Buxton
We bought this property after living here for many years. My husband was an avid fisherman, gardener and painter, and living on Hatteras Island gave him opportunity to do all of these things. We enjoyed the small island community and I am glad to still be living here.

Great little comfy efficiency in an awesome quiet location.
Lisa was easy to work with. And her little treehouse getaway was clean and comfortable. We will be back.
We enjoyed our stay at the lovely Treetop Retreat. The bed was comfortable and it was very clean. The original art on the walls was beautiful and made it a pleasure. Being up in the trees with the birds and tree frogs was fun. Our only complaint was a snarling dog in the host’s home below us. She was not at home when we arrived and my husband (who had previously suffered an attack by a dog) misunderstood her instructions and went to the wrong door.
I'm so sorry that my housemate's dog scared you. She is actually very friendly but must have felt protective. She is never outside without being on a leash. The dog will no longer be here by the end of June.
Everything was better than expected. If it was for sale we would buy it just to have a little home away from home.
Quiet, charming, little homeaway :):):)
A wooden staircase in the back of the house brought me up to a little veranda overlooking the lagune, which you cannot really see, but you can see the setting sun and the moon at night behind the many branches that practically wrap the house. If you leave the little window on the north west side of the room open, you will be awaken by the birds singing in the morning and by the yellow/orange light of the rising sun. A place ideal for a single person or a couple wanting to have some time on his(her, their) own.
I love the place and I will be back, most probably again and again :):):)
Very clean quaint little place that’s out of the way yet very close to area attractions. The owner was extremely accommodating; she texted us at 0730 and told us to come whenever we could get there so we could get settled in before a pretty decent storm came through.
We hope to stay here the next time we visit Buxton.
