Utopia's Industrial Renovation - Follow Your Heart for Anything is Possible!

This is just one of several vacation rentals, please request details about our other luxurious Utopia or Cardinals Inn options with THEMED suites, hot-tubs & swimming pool, if this one doesn't suit your needs.

Just a 2 mile LYFT or Uber ride from Downtown Asheville, Utopia on her own well, appears to be hidden deep in the countryside, teaming with wildlife and noisy with birds.

This total industrial style guest house themed renovation commenced in April 2015, taking 24 months to complete the first 4 unique suites, all with access to the communal kitchen, dining-room and living-room.

Accessible by ramp and a staircase, The Master accommodates two people in a king size steel framed bed with luxurious 100% cotton ironed linens, accentuated by a pair of round stainless steel bedside-tables topped with silver angle-poise lamps. The custom latticework leather canopy adorning this cubed industrial bed is steel-riveted, from which hangs chains of steel.

The articulated 55" smart TV has access to Amazon & Netflix, located directly opposite a characteristic deep-sink red-leather tufted Chesterfield sofa cushioned by four furry white pillows. A pair of brass and granite-topped round tables are accentuated with undulating crystal trim, reflecting bouncing flames from the gas fireplace. To the left of the TV, an original Captains table is straddled by a pair of French Empire style panthera genus motif chairs for consideration of a modelled BW German army military gas mask M65Z.

To the right of the TV, is a sizable bird-cage fitted with submissive restraints to cuff your prey.

Open the luxurious ceiling-to-floor red curtains below the grey tasseled custom valance and the French doors reveal a private south-facing balcony overlooking the pool and hot-tub with winter views of Chunns Cove farm. Opposite, a matching window treatment frames the picturesque view of flower gardens and an orchard filled with apples, blueberries and strawberries.

The dominant west-end of this sizable 1,000sqft loft suite with 12ft ceilings, houses a memorable tiled bathroom fitted with peaked-and-barred windows overlooking a very bright dramatic black bathroom complete with sky-light-web. The shower comfortably fits two consenting adults (shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided) while the jetted-tub provides sensational views of creative role-play art installations. A private WC opens to twin triskelion-inspired white sinks supporting aesthetic spiraling brushed nickel faucets contrasting textured black leathered granite counter and mirror frame (hair-drier provided). Finely constructed within, an intricately threaded steel-laced Catherine Wheel glistens below a horizontal 4ft light fixture.

Thick strewn red bathroom rugs please the podiatric senses while a convenient hand-carved brown leather chair accentuated with Slovakian Aaro-hand-forged iron circle-of-O motif restraints, is crowned and flaked with local memorabilia.

Beyond the bathroom, a coordinated steel hotel-dolly will accommodate all your hanging requirements while a matching steel-dresser with hand-forged Circle-of-O handles will store your travel garments. Besides your short-term storage facilities, a sturdy rusted-steel suitcase rack will facilitate easy unpacking.

Mirroring framed dominant St.Andrews rusted-steel crosses spread-eagle atop ribbed aluminum, flanking intense rays of sunshine through steel dungeon bars.

Directly afore the crux decussata, a teasing black granite-topped lattice-work table is dimly-lit by a disciplined candle-light dungeon-inspired steel-chained chandelier. The lavish black carpet spirals downstairs to the other world past 50 Shades of Grey tufted wall-paper to the left and red tufted silk to the right to a blue-lit corridor….

Since we are an Organic Household, we are happy to offer complimentary Organic Fair Trade Coffee to use in our Keurig Coffee machine and a selection of Teas with organic milk and local Haw Creek honey.

The spacious shared ozonated hot-tub seats 6 - open to Utopian guests throughout the year, optionally covered by a cantilever umbrella that we ask you to use in the event of rain or snow. The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Our driveway accommodates up to 10 cars so you can easily park your car here and take a $9 LYFT or Uber Downtown. Utopia is gifted with abundant breath-taking wildlife such as black bears, bobcats, wild turkeys, groundhogs and rabbits amongst a few so please drive slowly, keep your eyes out for creatures crossing the road (they were here first) and take a look at our impressive collection of videos on UTUBE at CardinalsInn.

About Fay Cullen

Marc and Fay decided to strategically align themselves to cope with the downward economic trajectory by increasing the number of income streams in an effort to prevent financial enslavement. Originally dependent on the master company Chocolate Drop LLC managing an online jewelry site, the decision was made to add more economically viable fun-stuff, of which hosting was a natural choice since interior design and food production were high up on their list. Marc’s natural talent for making people groan in ‘sweet’ pleasure coupled with his chocolatier talents made him a hit not only at parties but at home in the kitchen, and so was born Truffle Nature LLC and Cardinals Inn LLC which also encompasses Utopia.

Fay spent the best part of a year learning to throw pottery on the wheel, from which a new multi-media art arose, in the form of a Phoenix (LLC), rising from the ashes of previously unsatisfying occupations.

But the story is not yet complete.

Marc and Fay moved into their new home in December 2013, since which dynamic steps have been taken in the name of expansion and development to now encompass Utopia, a unique industrial installation.

Fay Cullen purchased this guest house in 2015

Why Fay Cullen chose Smoky Mountains

Utopia was purchased in 2015 after listening to Chip Conley (Airbnb Global Hospitality Manager) being interviewed by Jonathan Fields. Chip's motivational approach led to Marc & Fay purchasing their 2nd STVR and investing the best part of 2 years in Phase 1, completely gutting and renovating over 3,000sqft to the tune of $500,000.

Utopia had such potential that Marc and Fay were drawn to the artistic opportunities that lay ahead to entirely theme the building into unique suites for guests seeking new opportunities.

What makes this guest house unique

Utopia awakens daily to the sound of birds, occasionally turkeys and frequently mooing. Utopia has a Memorial Day to Labor Day pool and hot-tub, idea for relaxing guests and the interior was designed to give everyone access to the communal kitchen, dining-room and living-room, a manipulative move to encourage community.

While 2 suites have exterior access two suites have interior access and the last 2 planned suites will also have exterior access, totaling 6 unique themed suites.

Stunning setting - comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

We were last to stay in the Airstream Safari before it was sold. All amenities were as advertised. Only glitch was a total lack of access to coffee in the morning, in the privacy of our own unit, even though there was an electric kettle, sink, stove top etc. A French press would have made it easy.

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

The unit we stayed in ( Airstream ) was well kept and maintained. The host couple were wonderful people, Marc does some rather glorious things with chocolate, and Fay is driven in her desire to please. The facility itself is only 2 miles or so from downtown, yet, has the feel of being remote. When next we stay in Ashville, we will stay with them again.

Great experience with nice hosts

  • 5 of 5

Loved everything about the airstream and our wonderful hosts, Fay and Marc. The homemade jams and croissants they served for breakfast were yummy. The location was nothing less than perfect, about 10 min from anywhere in Asheville and nearby endless outdoor fun.

Awesome long weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time staying in the Airstream! From the moment we met Fay at the check-in until the moment we were hugging her goodbye, we felt like we were at a home away from home! The Airstream was all we hoped it would be, cozy, private, quiet, comfortable, adorable, relaxing, and inviting! Breakfast each day was something we looked forward to each night as we fell asleep! The croissants, the fruit, the jams--magnificent! The property is in a perfect location--it seemed to be central to everything! The only thing we drove any distance to was the Blue Ridge Parkway, and that was still under an hour! We did antiques and restaurants and shopping--all were close. We are already looking at our schedules for next year to see when we can go back. 100% recommend this property!

Although Utopia is just 5 minutes drive from Downtown Asheville, one could be mistaken for thinking that the the views and wildlife found in Chunns Cove were National Forest or even a Costa Rican Rainforest. Surrounded by greenery and wildlife, Utopia presently hosts 4 vacation rentals. Just a 2 minute drive to Ingles Grocery Store or 4 minutes to Walgreens, there is almost nothing in Asheville that is further away than 5 minutes.

In each vacation rental, there is an up-to-date collection of books and magazines from the Chamber of Commerce featuring the best places to eat, hike, drink beer, etc

If you have any questions, Marc & Fay are available in person or by phone 24/7.
