About John and Glenda Anderson

We moved from Lacey/Olympia, WA to Packwood in 1985. John did commute to Olympia for work until he retired as Assistant State Fire Marshall's Office in 1997.

We have been remodeling our home that was once his parents retirement home and now ours.

In 2014 We started a new adventure with converting John's home office and single car garage into a vacation rental after his heartattack in 2014. We have been blessed and amazed by the wonderful people who come to stay at our "Casita", (means small house, self contained).

We live here full time so when guest come with give them their privacy. If they need anything we are here to serve where we can.

We have a new addition, on September 2, 2017 we brought home a 10 week old puppy, a Havanese, his name is "Jangles" his cousin's name is Beau, so we came up with Jangles.

After having 2 sweet black labs we missed having a dog. We have rules with having dogs here.

Need proof of shots and flea treatment and well behaved, the owners need to pick up after them. If the dog is not well groomed please respect our rules and leave them home.

John and Glenda Anderson purchased this cottage in 1985

Why John and Glenda Anderson chose Packwood

The Anderson’s were beyond accommodating. Made sure we knew where to go In the park and Packwood. Could not ask for better hosts or a more beautiful setting. Loved cooking in the kitchen. All made for a great vacation.

Owner's Response: Richard & Donna, Oh My, where do we start? First of all, thanks for your wonderful review. And for choosing our Casita. Second, you both made us feel like good old friends. We enjoyed our time we got to spend together and the fascinating conversations. Third, the Lord willing we hope to see you both again if the creek don't rise. :) Fourth, you were wonderful and delightful guest. Glenda John

Wonderful in Every Respect

  • 5 of 5

Our stay with Glenda and John was wonderful. I can recommend the Casita 100%. The owners are a pleasure to meet and chat with, and so helpful in providing recommendations as to the local area. The Casita was spotless and had every convenience, including the most important for us at the end of our 2-way vacation -- a coffee maker and washer/dryer! The garden area is lovely and during our stay we had perfect weather, and we wished we could have stayed another day to just sit and relax. Details: 1Q, 2 twins, 1 couch, plenty of sheets and towels, nice hot tub. John and Glenda own an adorable and high-energy dog, Jangles, which we all loved!!

Superb

  • 5 of 5

This is such a spacious casita with everything you would ever need. Very attractive, comfortable and clean. We stayed for almost two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are a little garden of eden. The owners were just wonderful people. They were able to accommodate our granddaughters diabetic and celiac condition when we needed meals prepared. I would highly recommend this beautiful place. Steve and Sharian Rasmussen

Perfect home base for visiting Mt. Rainier

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house! It's a cozy, comfortable layout with everything that we needed for our family of four. There were also nice extra touches, like a double-headed shower, a hot tub, and a fantastic pancake breakfast provided by our hosts on our last morning. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

For those planning a visit to Mt. Rainier, here's some travel time info that you might find helpful...

Ohanopacosh: 30 minutes

Grove of the Patriarchs: 30 minutes

Paradise: 1 hour

Longmire: 1 hour 10 minutes (coming in from a forest road south of the park...this road had only recently opened before we arrived...allow 10 minutes longer if you need to enter the park from the Stevens Canyon entrance)

Sunrise: 1 hour 30 minutes (but well worth it...this was probably our favorite part of the park)

Perfect !

  • 5 of 5

So enjoyed our stay at John and Glenda's Packwood Casita. Close to the Park where we spent every day hiking and enjoying the sights. The Casita was so cozy, quiet, clean and had everything we needed for our weeklong stay and more. The hot tub was a welcome sight every evening upon returning from our hikes. The hosts went out of their way to make our trip the best it could be. We hope to return someday and pick up where we left off. So much to see and do and in such wonderful surroundings. Thanks so much.

Absolutely Amazing...The Casita has everything you need and more, no need to look any further!

  • 5 of 5

John & Glenda are so thoughtful & considerate they immediately made our family feel right at home. The property is beautiful and is perfectly located for any Mt Rainer adventure. We are a family of 5 and enjoyed every minute at the Casita. There is plenty of room, very clean and contains everything you need. There is also a beautiful trail directly behind the Casita and river access right across the street. After a day of hiking, driving & site seeing it was so relaxing to come back to the tranquil setting of the Casita. The hot tub felt was nice after a day of fun on the mountain. John & Glenda were very helpful with directions, recommendations & accommodations. I would recommend trying Glenda’s homemade breakfast to get you up & going on an early start. We would definitely stay here again. 5 Stars ~ Thanks for the memories!

Our property is near the Cowlitz River and Gifford Pinchot National Forest, great place to enjoy the outdoors for all ages. Our town of Packwood is known for the two annual flea marts, Memorial Day week-end and Labor Day week-end. We are 6 miles from Packwood in community called High Valley Park we are 2 miles past the club house and golf course. Note the sections of the HVP are not in numerical order, kinda of confusing. We are in the last park of 8 and 11.
