About Paul Mahoney

We have been longtime visitors to the Woodstock area, and it was always our dream to have a home here. We finally realized our dream this past summer and purchased the house on River Street, which consists of 2 units. One unit we reserve for our personal use and the other to share with those who, like us, love the area in all its beauty throughout the year.

Paul Mahoney purchased this house in 2014

Why Paul Mahoney chose Woodstock

A house located on the river and a short walk to the Village! We all love Woodstock Village. The kids love swimming in the river right outside the back door. There is never a lack of things to do: shopping, casual or fine dining, hiking, swimming, basketball, golf and; in the winter: skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoes, cross-country skiing. There is always something fun going on in the area.

What makes this house unique

Mount Tom and Mount Peg are two popular hikes and you can walk to either in a very few minutes. The house is located next door to the Woodstock Recreation Center which has two swimming pools, fitness classes, a basketball court and work-out room. Visitors can obtain a guest pass for the day for a nominal fee. It's like having a country club right next door!

Loved this house!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our four children (age 16 boy, 16 girl, 13 girl and 8 boy) to Vermont for four nights during Christmas break. We all had a great time and loved this house. The house was warm, inviting, clean, updated, comfortable and very relaxing. We had many nice moments around the fire place playing games. We loved the proximity to town and the various ski mountains (we skied Pico and Killington). We also loved being near the Woodstock farmers market and the kids loved the river in the back. The owner, Paul, was nice and helpful with anything we needed. We look forward to returning to Woodstock and this wonderful home.

Fabulous location in historic Woodstock, beautiful views from deck.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience staying in your home in Woodstock. The location was perfect as a home base for exploring Vermont and seeing the gorgeous fall foliage. Woodstock is a quaint village with wonderful restaurants, nice shops, and beautiful architecture - all important assets for a great vacation. Your house provided all the amenities that we could have expected, and the back deck situated with views of the river and fall colors was tranquil and inviting. I'd highly recommend this property! Thanks again for your hospitality. Joni Waddell

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our experience at this home. The interior is updated but had the feel of an original Woodstock residence. Clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed for a family of 7. The deck overlooks the river and is a great gathering place. Owners were friendly and accommodating. Within easy walking distance to the town. We highly recommend it!

Overall a great stay!

  • 4 of 5

The house is overall fantastic and is in person as pictured. Fantastic location, very clean, good selection of housewares/kitchen wares, tons of towels, fast wifi, etc. During the few days we were in town the temperatures were abnormally high for the region and so the house (especially the bedrooms) became extremely uncomfortable, there were fans provided but it was still pretty hot. The river directly behind the house was great for cooling down. Also, there is a lovely table for eating that is advertised as being for 8 people, however, there are only 4 chairs....

All in all a great house.

The best way to get a feel for the town is to wander down River, Central and Elm streets, browse the shops and galleries, and walk across Middle Bridge, the covered bridge that spans the Ottauquechee River. Woodstock’s centerpiece, the village green, is ringed with buildings of different styles, from Federal mansions to a Greek-Revival courthouse and a Romanesque-style library. Described by Ladies Home Journal magazine as “The Prettiest Small Town in America”, Woodstock is a treat for the senses with tree-lined streets and flowers everywhere. The Village curves around the beautiful Outtaquechee which can be seen from its many bridges.

Woodstock is truly a four season destination with each season bringing the excitement of special events. Autumn, the most famous season in the Northeast draws the most visitors to the area with beautiful foliage as backdrop to hiking, biking, antiquing, photos, the Apple & Crafts Fair, the Sculpture Fest, Woodstock Digital Media Festival, the Vermont Fine Furniture and Woodworking Festival, Green Mountain Horse Association Fall Foliage ride as well as excursions and family outings to the nearby Billings Farm and Museum and the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park.

Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hockey, curling, viewing the Snow Sculpture Contest on The Green or taking in a youth hockey game are just some of the many winter activities. The widely popular, annual Wassail parade and weekend including Holiday House Tours, and Messiah Sing.

Spring is a season of beauty in Woodstock with flowering blossoms on trees, tulip-lined lawns, maple sugaring season, pancake breakfasts and pure maple syrup in our local restaurants. The local garden club and shop owners create a burst of color throughout the Village.

Summer brings excitement, with the weekly Market on The Green, Thursdays Free Brown Bag Music Concerts (also on The Green), Woodstock Summerfest, Bookstock to mention a few. The Pentangle Arts Council, located at the Woodstock Town Hall, is just one third of a mile from the house, and presents live theatre and musical concerts as well as weekend movies.
