About Alan Egginton
We live in Preston, but spend a lot of our time at our holiday villa. Christine, originally from, Devon retired from her bridal retail shop in 2008. I am originally from Stoke on Trent, after spending many years in the army with Christine at my side. I then started a property management and development business, I retired in 2011. We love the countryside and spend as much time outside as we can, but the UK weather forced us indoors much too often, so we decided on a holiday home in Spain. After researching online for 6 months, and then 5 visits and a few thousand miles searching southern Spain, we eventually found this perfect location. The villa had been empty for some time, and with a pretty much blank canvas and 4 years work we now have our dream holiday home. If you choose to spend your holiday here we are sure you will agree it is a stunning location with excellent accommodation. We will most likely be at the villa during your stay but have our own space, so you can see as much, or as little of us as you wish, but always have the peace of mind that we will be there for any advice or requests you may have, we ensure that the pool and sun terrace is kept clean and you have clean towels etc, usually done before you rise, We have two small, friendly dogs, Molly and Willow who may visit you now again.
Alan Egginton purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Alan Egginton chose Torrox
The villa has just had a total reform, it is fresh and clean, with all new quality furniture throughout, new bedding, bed linen, and towels etc. The huge sun terrace with its mountain and ocean wiews and tropical planting is probably the most outstanding feature, there are various seating areas to suite your . 8 modern, adjustable, deep cushioned sun loungers with soft towelling covers are situated around the pool, with parasols and table/lockers, large pool towels are provided and regularly changed. The outside Kitchen - Lounge - Dining - Bar area is a great space, It is shaded under a thatched roof and has retractable floor to ceiling blinds all the way around, it is equipped with cooling fans, or heating for when it is closed down in the cooler months. There is a large screen TV, Amazon fire stick, Kodi installed,1000s films, uk channels, wifi 20 Mbps*, Bluetooth speakers, A large dining table for 8 + is provided with large cushioned chairs, there is also a large lounge seating arrangement with a table. The Kitchen is fully equipped -including dishwasher, oven, hob, chip fryer, microwave, coffee maker, fridges, freezer, etc, etc, there is also a large charcoal BBQ, and wood fired Bread Oven, these can be lit and prepared for you upon request, the kitchen comes equipped with cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. The Bar, is stocked with a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, it is self service and run on the basis of a "Honesty Bar" the prices are reasonable and you can pay as you take the drinks, or put them on a chit and pay when you leave, we support a local charity for abandoned dogs and ALL PROFITS GO TO THIS CHARITY we have receipts available. It is possible to stock the bar with your own drinks if you wish. And yet another lounge area! This is the place to chill, and get away from the noisy lot in the other lounge! it is out of the way with a Moroccan theme, comfortable seating, fish pond, waterfall, and soft plantin
What makes this Villa unique
The villa has been themed as "away from it a all" due to its location and natural tranquil setting, however it is only 9 miles, ( 15 - 20 minutes ) from the coast and all its attractions.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
A beautiful property, the owners were exceptionally helpful, even taking us shopping on the first evening. Thank you so much Chrissie and Alan for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
Even better in reality!
What an amazing place to stay. The setting is wonderful - incredible views across the valley and to the coast. So well appointed - especially the poolside kitchen/dining room where we practically lived all week. Christine was a fabulous host - very welcoming.
It's just under an hour's drive from Malaga airport and the last 5 minutes or so are on quite small tracks but Christine or Alan will meet you and escort you and the car up which is great to help get you orientated. It's about half an hour to get to Nerja which is well worth a trip out as is Malaga itself (highly recommend the cycle tour there - great for older kids too). However, the best bit was just hanging out by the pool.
Can't wait to visit again!
Although this one word completely describes our stay, I suspect that you would like to know more.
Personally, I would keep this little gem a complete secret so that we can visit whenever we want but the owners, Christine and Alan, are such lovely people that I feel I have to tell you about our experience.
The villa is located in the foothills of the mountains so benefits from beautiful views of both these and the sea, and is also a degree or two cooler than down at sea level - a factor that works in its favour in the very hot summer months. It is about 15-20 minutes’ drive from Torrox Costa i.e the shops and nearby beaches, however the villa was so idyllic that we found it difficult to tear ourselves away and explore the area.
This property was developed by C & A for their personal use and that of their friends and family so it is kitted out to a very high standard with every possible convenience and lots of quirky little touches that never failed to surprise and delight. I counted 10 different outdoor seating areas so we did not get under each other’s feet in the week that we were there. For instance, there is a delightful, mosaic table with built in USB connections (cast by Alan himself) conveniently removed from the pool area so I could have a bit of peace and quiet to get in touch with the office (sad person that I am) but still enjoy the stunning views and ambience of the villa.
The outdoor kitchen/family area is sheer genius and the fact that one could close the sides on the occasional, cooler day (we were there at the end of October, after all) and still enjoy the views and feel of the place is testament to the amount of thought and effort that has gone into the design of the recreation area.
On arrival, Christine and Alan had provided kitchen basics (not to mention stocking the honesty bar) which meant that we could freshen up, unpack, have a drink or two (of tea or something stronger) and enjoy the view before eventually going down to the supermarket to get in some more provisions for the rest of the week.
If you are thinking of holidaying here, book it, you will not be disappointed. We were so entranced that we are already planning two more trips back to this villa next year.
Best Villa I have stayed in. Ever.
We (two couples and three children ranging in ages from around 7 months to 3 years old) stayed in this villa for a week and all of us had nothing but positive things to say about it and the hosts. It is set in a beautiful location with fantastic views and immaculate gardens. The swimming pool is spotless and heated. The outdoor seating, eating and cooking area was well thought out, excellently equipped and again spotlessly clean. The apartments are equally well appointed with AC, linen and everything you could need for your stay. In addition to all of these things the whole property was very baby/child friendly but without that amenity being obvious or intrusive. We were all very happy to let our children wander around the garden and we knew that they would come to no harm as the garden is enclosed and safe. I would come back to this villa again and again.
We enjoyed our recent Spain holiday so much, largely down to staying here in our own private "paradise". The views are unreal, the pictures don't do it justice.
We had four adults and two children, and plenty of space all around to relax separately or come together. The outside is incredible and immaculately maintained, everything is very clean and peaceful. We chose to eat outside most nights, stretching out in the shaded kitchen area. There is everything provided from loo roll to dishwasher tablets and even an espresso machine, all you need is food and drink. Having said that, there is also an honesty bar where you can dip in and buy a number of drinks if needed which we did, which was handy! The pool was awesome and there is also a secluded area around the corner with fish, which my sons enjoyed watching. We made full use of the BBQ as well.
Inside, there are two separate apartments which as ideal for allowing both my family, and my parents, to have our own space. They are well appointed, spotless, and cool. Again, totally kitted out with mod coms and things like kitchen roll, utensils, etc.
Christine and Alan were awesome hosts, they live above but don't use the rear side of the house at all when guests are staying, so it's very private. It's way up in the hills so it's great they are on hand if you need anything. Alan even offered to drive my parents to the airport if our taxi failed to show up (but it did, bang on 5:30am). I would definitely recommend hiring a car, even if it's just to go in and around.
Overall, this is really one of my favourite places we have ever stayed. I couldn't recommend it enough if you are looking to get away from it all and enjoy time in your own exclusive space with friends or family. We hope to come back soon!
Stunning Villa and Location
Having travelled extensively primarily self catering accommodation, this is by far one of the best we have stayed in. Our first week we had 8 adults and 1 toddler, the separate apartments worked very well to ensure privacy. Both apartments have a fully functioning kitchen however, we hardly used them choosing to live in the outside kitchen for 2 weeks, which had a hob, cooker, dishwasher, pizza oven, fridge and BBQ. The area has a table and chairs and a sofa seating area with a TV and outside toilets-there really was no need to go back in the apartment when out side for the day!
The best feature was the honesty bar! Although we did buy our own pop, alcohol etc we did dip in occasionally and all they ask is that you put a donation in to help the local dogs shelter, which Christine helps out at. We thought this was great and such a good cause, and so kind of Alan and Christine to provide this very welcome extra.
The apartments are very well equipped to the degree that washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, foil etc is provided. We did buy our own toilet rolls etc but found we never used them, so left them for the next guests. Most self catering accommodation don’t always provide these necessities, you would have to purchase them yourself, so this alone was a big tick for us!
The whole place inside and out was spotlessly clean and very well maintained, and finished to a high standard. The gardens are beautiful and there is a chill out area with water feature and fish, that my granddaughter enjoyed feeding every day. It is on a very big plot so lots of room and space for everyone, and lots of little areas to sit and admire the view.
The view is stunning! Over the mountains and towards the coast it was so quiet and peaceful which is what we wanted from this holiday, away from any hustle and bustle.
Alan and Christine are very welcome hosts, who are available if required but keep a distance to ensure your privacy. They are continually working and maintaining the property to a high standard.
We would certainly recommend this villa if peace and relaxation is what you require. Thanks you for letting us stay at your beautiful villa we wish you the very best.

the eastern end of the Costa del Sol a 45 minute drive on the motorway from the Costa del Sol airport(formally Pablo Picasso airport). Frankly most visitors turn right at the airport to the glamour and glitz of Marbella and the Golden Mile, only the lucky ones turn left to the picturesque area known as the “Axarquia” an area comprising of 32 municipalities including Nerja.
Nerja is a quaint low rise fishing village with a resident population of around 25,000. Once a sleepy fishing village, the town has developed and extended in a very sympathetic way retaining it’s unmistakably Andalucian feel. Café bars, shops, narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums are plentiful. At the heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcón de Europa, a magnificent palm tree lined promontory with sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches to the east and west.
From the Balcon head east beside the sea along the fashionable Calle Carabeo , Continue walking east to Burriana Beach with its many bars, restaurants and water sports.
One of Nerja´s major attractions is the weather. The area boasts “The best climate in Europe”. In the summer it´s usually around 30º C plus and in the winter usually around 15º - 20º C with lots of sun even in the middle of winter. This January the sea temperature was around 14ºC which compares favourably with many Northern European summer sea temperatures of 12ºC. It is not unusual to see people sunbathing on the beaches at least 9 months of the year.
Nerja is not the classic Spanish sea side resort boasting a long promenade of first line properties, in fact only a small proportion of its beaches are property dominated. In total there are no less than 9 beaches from Playazo in the west to Burriana in the east.
