About Jeff & Christine Mason

Charlevoix and Foster Boat Works are special places for us. We first came here in July 1994, shortly after we met. We immediately fell in love with Charlevoix. When we got married in October 1994, we came here for our honeymoon and for twenty two years we have been spending coming back several times a year. Now that we have our own condo here, we come with our family for the summers and every other chance we get. This place is special to us and holds many memories. It is our paradise. We are glad to be able to share it with you and hope that you can make some fond memories for yourselves.

Why Jeff & Christine Mason chose Northwest

This is our paradise where we can

. . . Stroll down a white sandy beach searching for unique Michigan rocks surrounded by the golden sun

. . . Travel along on a country road and see the most spectacular fall foliage ever

. . . Listen to the mesmerizing sound of sailboat riggings chiming and clear blue waters rolling onto shore

. . . Enjoy shopping, dining, an art fair or outdoor concert or just watching the boats float by under the drawbridge

. . . Ski down a hill with an unmatched view of Lake Michigan

. . . Simply relax and be in a place where our only concern is washing the sand from our toes or planning our next adventure... where the perfect life becomes a reality… where we can find ourselves. . . and realize what life should really be about

. . . We always imagined this: paradise. Paradise is a reality for us when we are at Foster Boat Works in Charlevoix, Michigan. It's our Paradise Up North.

What makes this condo unique

Foster Boat Works is a friendly and quiet community located in the midst of all the joys and necessities of a vacation place in any season. We love that we can sit on our patio and enjoy the sunrise, sounds of the boat rigging clanging, and the water lapping up on shore. We enjoy getting out and exploring the nearby beaches and hiking and biking trails. We like to get our city-fix by visiting downtown shopping and dining area. The free arts and entertainment opportunities are endless and we take advantage of as many as we can. We are appreciative that the necessities of a grocery and general store are within walking distance. This place does not disappoint.

Delightful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you enjoy the lull of waves gently slapping against the docks and the soft metallic clang of rigging against masts then this is the place for you to stay while enjoying the charms of Charlevoix and nearby towns. You can watch the sun rise over Lake Charlevoix from the family room or patio or stroll down to the marina for the best view. The condo is tastefully decorated in a nautical theme with dark blue accent walls in the family room and bedroom. The design incorporates wooden beams and ironwork from when the building was a boat factory. The owners provide bed linens, bath towels and pots, pans and everything else that you need if you choose to cook rather than dine out. The place was clean when I arrived and the furniture was comfortable. Owners send renters a packet with instructs on how to use TV, etc. and suggestions on places to visit and upcoming activities. They also have a stack of tourist brochures from the state of Michigan and from the Charlevoix area to help plan daily excursions. The condo is within walking distance of a park and public swimming pool. If you enjoy walking, you can easily walk to downtown Charlevoix. While there was little traffic congestion while I stayed there, I can imagine that walking or biking would be the best forms of transportation during the summer months. I was impressed with the number of bike trails in the area as well as nature preserves and state parks. Downtown Charlevoix offers numerous restaurants, pubs, specialty shops and galleries that will take several days to explore. There is a bandstand which suggests plenty of music during the summer. As wonderful as the sunrises are at the condo, make time to see the gorgeous sunsets on Lake Michigan either from the park at the lighthouse or from the state park just south of town. The views of Lake Michigan on the drive between Charlevoix and Petoskey are breathtaking. Without a doubt, I will return to Charlevoix and stay at this condo. I would also enthusiastically recommend this vacation rental to other people.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

This place is a gem! We thoroughly enjoyed staying at your condo...it is located in such a great area with the view of the marina and boats from the livingroom/patio area...great sunrises too. We found the condo very clean, updated and well equipped and us not needing anything....and we both commented on how well we slept. We enjoyed strolling the sidewalks in Charlevoix and Petoskey and our annual trip through the Tunnel of Trees was complimented at the end with a nice lunch in the scenic garden at Legs Inn. Having such a nice relaxing place to stay after running around all day made the trip all the more enjoyable. We hated to say good-bye. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as described in writing and seen in the pictures. It was clean, comfortable and private. Perfect get away for a couple. We especially enjoyed the sun rising over the lake with the boats in the foreground. Lovely. In addition to the location we experienced thorough, and friendly communications with the owner, and quick return of the security deposit. We will return.

Gorgeous condo!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been renting condos at Foster Boat Works in Charlevoix for about 25 years. (I think we've only not gone there 3 of 25 summers.) We've stayed in many different units. Jeff and Christine's unit is the nicest one we've ever stayed in! It looks like everything has been recently updated including the kitchen cabinets, counter tops, flooring, bathroom and furniture. Very nice decorations and pictures. It absolutely felt like friends were letting us stay in their unit because it looks nothing like a typical rental property. We hope to be back there next year.
