The Lotus Loft is a serene and private studio nestled among lush acres and surrounded by orchids, fruit trees, tropical landscaping and a small stream meandering through. The perfect place to experience the true spirit of Kauai. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood, comprised of large estates and farm land, between the ocean and the sacred Makaleha mountains, less than 10 min away from downtown Kapaa and the beach. Experience the magic of Kauai with panoramic mountain views and after heavy rains you will see numerous waterfalls down the Makaleha mountain.
The Lotus Loft is located on the second floor of a 2 story cottage. It is clean, bright, airy and spacious with lots of windows and views of the lush grounds and surrounding mountains. The space has a wood floor and is decorated in Eastern style with beautiful wood carvings, tapestries and exquisite decorative details. The studio has a private entrance and parking, large screened-in lanai, kitchen, walk in closet and en-suite bathroom.
The sleeping area has a King size canopy bed and a full size sleeper sofa. The kitchen is equipped with a sink, gas oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, electric kettle and blender.
Guests share access to the washer/drier with the downstairs unit.
We offer complimentary WiFi and Roku with a free Netflix account.
The property has many fruit and aromatic plants including papayas, avocado, heliconia, kukui nut, coconut, african tulip, noni, orchids, strawberry guavas, plumeria, gingers, Ti plants and more. Guests are welcome to enjoy the fruits right off the trees!
Surrounding the cottage is a large enclosed lawn area beyond which is natural and wild rainforest land. Just beyond the enclosed area are steps down to a small stream with a deck above. You can enjoy a book, tea or practice yoga/meditation on the deck, surrounded by lush green plants and enjoying the sounds of the birds and the stream below.
The Lotus Loft is perfect for those looking for a serene experience where you feel that you are in middle of the rainforest and one with nature, at the same time can enjoy modern amenities and proximity to the beach and downtown Kapaa, where you will find great restaurants, cafes, specialty shops and a locally made products fair.
Check out the downstairs unit, the Bali Studio, (listing # 586919) if you need additional room or if your dates are not available for the Lotus Loft.
The Lotus Loft is a great place to stay in Kauai. It is cozy, beautifully decorated and made us feel totally immersed in Kauai's landscape. It is the perfect place for two people. The lanai is beautiful and it is great to have breakfast or to relax after a day on the beach. It is just beautiful to be able to see it all from there. The location is great too, quiet and 5 minutes away from Kapaa, which is also a good point to discover the whole island. We experienced very little traffic going North or South. Diana was great; she was friendly, fast to communicate and gave us many great recommendations. It is really a great place to stay and I would have no doubt in staying there again.
If this format required a negative comment, we would not be able to think of a thing. We loved our 7 days at the Lotus Loft. Perfect place as it was a short drive into the town and yet a world away. We loved the night noises and the morning sounds to wake us up. Roosters are far better than an alarm clock! I wish I could wake every morning in a huge bed and look out through the lanai and see lovely greenery and the mountains.
Although we were in the country, we were a close drive up to the northern coast and not far to the south. Loved the farmers' market and then returning home to cook dinner and eat on the screened in lanai. Though there were screens, we are not sure if they were needed. We never used our bug spray once.
Lotus Loft was perfect for the two of us and we hope to return. Thank you for a lovely stay. Abbyann & DAve
Loved the cottage! Nicely decorated with high-quality furnishings. The cottage was clean. The towels were soft and smelled divine. The bedding was comfortable and luxurious. Loved the coffee they provided, especially since it was amazing to enjoy coffee on the lanai while hearing and seeing the jungle come alive each day at sunrise. Loved having the washer and dryer (key if you plan on making your trip to Kauai an active one, as I did). The cottage is located just up the hill from Kapa'a, where there are plenty of places to purchase groceries and dine out. The property manager was responsive to my questions and seemed very helpful. I can state only two negative aspects about Lotus Loft. One, the view is not as depicted in the photos. While it remains incredibly lush around the cottage, the greenery has grown to the point that the mountain is only visible if one is standing at the far corner of the lanai and, even then, you can only see the "head" of the mountain range. This was disappointing, at least for me, as the view of jungle and the the mountain in the distance was one of my main reasons for choosing this rental (the view is still beautiful and serene, but it is more limited to the trees and greenery that directly surround the cottage). I think the photos need to be updated on vrbo to reflect the current view. The other downside is that there were multiple geckos living in the cottage. To be sure, the geckos' presence in homes is super common on Kauai and it had nothing to do with the overall cleanliness of the cottage, but it still freaked me out a bit. With this being said, I would probably stay here again, as I found it to be a fairly-priced, luxurious rental property that gives a true Hawaiin experience. Enjoy!
We stayed at the Lotus Loft for 1 week in July, 2016. What an amazing property! We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (6 and 10 years). My in-laws stayed in the downstairs cabin making it the perfect get-away for all of us! Things we loved: being away from the crowds, the amazing views, the zen room, the fruit trees, the sounds (yes, it was loud at times with roosters, cows, birds, etc but so great!). The loft had everything we needed and when we were missing 1 thing (a bottle opener), the housekeeping staff brought it to us immediately. Our children loved roaming the grounds picking flowers to put in the loft and looking for new fruit trees. There were even a few ripe papaya's to pick while there! It was so nice to have a calm and peaceful place to go after a busy day each evening.
The description is very accurate and the owner check-in instructions were easy to follow. We were glad to have arrive during the day but driving directions were very clear. We highly recommend the Lotus Loft for those looking to truly experience Hawaii and get away from it all!
we had a great stay at the loft.
the garden is beautiful and everything is as described.
The property was as nice in person as it was in the online description/pictures. It's up on a mountain and the views were incredible. Our only real concern was that it was at least a 20-30 minute drive to nice restaurants and shops. It's only 10 minutes from the little town of Kapaa, but there weren't a lot of good places to eat there. (Although, we had a couple of excellent meals at a place called Chicken in a Barrel. We saw online that it had great reviews and then were surprised to find it was a food truck! But it was really popular and well established, with picnic tables, etc.)
We felt this property was best suited to people looking for privacy and quiet, and planning to fix their own meals. The grounds are maintained so well that you feel like you have your own private botanical garden. The building has two units and the Lotus Loft is on top - so it had the better views. As each unit has it's own screened in lanai we rarely saw our neighbors.
We had seen previous reviews that mentioned the crowing chickens. But I think you'll find that all over Kauai. We didn't find it disturbing.
This loft is very tastefully decorated. I give the kitchen amenities an A+! For a small and simple kitchen, everything stocked is very well thought out. Though lovely, we didn't find this property as satisfactory as the property (at the same price!) we stayed at on the north shore. The roosters here are relentless! Woke us every half hour, beginning at 2am. We found the gate for the entrance annoying to have to open and shut each and every time we needed to pull our car in/out as the mud was deep and difficult. We very much enjoyed the snorkel gear, cooler, and sitting on the lanai during the rain. The directions sent were very helpful due to the road closures and detours.
Kapaa is a perfect area to experience all Kauai. Centrally located, close to the airport, with a charming little town center, it offers the old Hawaii feeling with modern amenities. There are many great beaches and hikes in the immediate area. Kapaa's central location makes it perfect for exploring the North and South shores of Kauia.
