This beautifully renovated Oceanfront private home is on Kailua-Kona’s prestigious Alii Drive. With waves breaking a few feet from the spacious patio and three large decks, it is a perfect setting for unwinding and relaxing or entertaining in style! Three levels of oceanfront living are available for your enjoyment.
The top floor boasts two spacious oceanfront master suites with their own private bathroom, large closet, and private deck perched above the ocean. The “mermaid room” features a spectacular outdoor shower and bath encased in a stained glass privacy screen. Newly decorated with “beach chic” furniture and accessories, the master suites are elegant and inviting. Each has a California king bed with luxury bedding. Both are air-conditioned and have large flat screen televisions.
The main floor offers an expansive kitchen with granite counters, custom cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. A comfortable eating bar seats six and louvered windows insure a constant cross breeze. A spacious open area living room offers comfortable seating with tasteful Hawaiian furniture, local original artwork, and a flat screen television. The sofa doubles as a queen sleeper sofa to comfortably accommodate two extra guests. An additional powder room and fully equipped laundry room complete the main floor inside. An uninterrupted wall of windows insures that all rooms are bright and provide stunning ocean views. A large deck with outdoor dining for six and comfortable recliners are perched above the breaking waves.
The lower floor is a huge lanai bordered on one side with a lava rock retaining wall where waves break at high tide. Three lava rock planters display local plant life. The patio has ample seating for sunbathing or shade from the palm trees or the overhanging deck above. Two propane barbecues are available for guests to enjoy. The highlight of the patio is a life-size bronze statue of a mermaid rising from one of the planters.
All three levels, three decks and the lanai face the ocean with waves breaking on the lava rock only feet away. All levels provide a wonderful vantage point to watch the spinner dolphins who often frolic just in front of the house and the whales who migrate by the residence spouting and breaching. Mermaid Manor faces west and every evening provides an opportunity to enjoy the glorious, ever-changing Kona sunsets with shades of orange, pink, lavender and the magical “green flash” with the last rays of the sun.
The Kailua-Kona village is a 10 minute walk from Mermaid Manor. The village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water’s edge. Some of the activities you can find in the village and nearby are: beaches, luau’s, farmer’s markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There are also several great golf courses nearby. There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach.
Just bring your swimsuit and the desire to make great memories!
Pets okay upon approval.

A spectalur home
The owner is sharing her wonderful home. You can't get this on any of the other islands or from a 5 star hotel. Most relaxing trip, best view, best trip. Could continue to bs, but Mermaid Manor is sooo relaxing. Highly recommend.
Truly a unique location with a magical charm
My next trip to Kona I will plan on renting the same place
Beautiful location and condo
Mermaid Manor is a very spacious and well equipped condominium. The views off the three levels of balconies are breathtaking and the proximity of the condo to all the amenities of Kona make it ideal. The outdoor shower is a fun treat as well. The condo was very clean when we arrived and there was very good communication from the owner regarding access to the property. We had no issues during the stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Please do note however that while the listing says the condo sleeps six, it really only sleeps 4 comfortably. While there were only 3 of us, it appears that to get to the 6 as advertised a blowup mattress has to be used. I would not recommend the place for more than 4 but for 4 you will have tons of space. Also be advised that the owner is very hands on so be prepared for drop ins at any time.
Amazing views. Great location.
Mermaid Manor did not disappoint. The property has amazing views from all three lanais. It is close enough to walk to downtown shops, bars and restaurants. Jackie Rey's is a hidden local gem just up the hill. Great fresh food and happy hour not to mention discounts if you show your rental car keys. 808 Grindz another great place for breakfast.
House is well stocked as advertised. Owner and property management team made sure our stay was enjoyable. Will definitely return.
Exactly what the Doctor Ordered!
My husband and I took the leap this summer, and headed to the Island of Hawaii with our 3 kids, for a much needed vacation. When we got off the plane, we were tired, and I must admit, very disappointed with the airport "view". Definitely nothing to write home about. We made the short drive to Kailua, Kona and when we arrived at Mermaid Manor we fell in love. This was our home for a glorious week. The view from any of the 3 lanai's was absolutely breathtaking. We spotted dolphins almost daily. The waves were powerful, but peaceful. I could sit out there for hours, and it never got "old". The kitchen was stocked with absolutely everything we needed, including spices and a variety of condiments. The bathrooms were well stocked. The beds were very comfortable! It was so great to have a washer and dryer. We put them to good use. The home also had a boogie board, and snorkeling gear, and plenty of beach towels. We walked to a nearby sand beach, where we snorkeled, and saw some gorgeous, bright-colored fish. We rented a car and traveled the entire island. There is so much beautiful countryside, and the ocean is glorious. Each new day was a fun adventure, and we had the best vacation ever. The home owner was personable, and made us feel at home immediately. I just cannot say enough about the beautiful sunsets. It was so good for my soul, and I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
Fun for the whole family! We made good use of the lime tree in the front year. 😀
The Kona region of the Big Island goes beyond Hawaii's traditional offerings. Sure, there's ample sun, surf and sandy beaches, but the Kona coast features so much more. Step back in time and explore Kona's history, taste some of the world's richest coffee and view marine animals in the clear waters of the surrounding Pacific Ocean. These activities and more a wait along the Big Island's Kona coast. Location: Kona is one of seven regions on Hawaii's Big Island, encompassing a 60-mile stretch of the western coast. The Big Island sits at the southeastern end of Hawaii's island chain, and is 4,038 square miles, double the combined size of Hawaii's other seven islands. History: Kailua-Kona, also called Kailua-Kona Town, is a city in the Kona region and was, at one point, home to King Kamehameha in the early 1800s. The Historic Kailua Village in Kailua-Kona pays homage to Kamehameha and other Hawaiian royalty with tours of historic sites such as Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church. Also located on the Kona coast is Kealakekua Bay, where captain James Cook first landed on the Big Island and eventually was killed, in 1779. Historical Parks: Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park has a monument to Captain James Cook. Near Kealakekua Bay is the 180-acre Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, which was once a sacred place of refuge. The Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park is a 1,160-acre park just north of Kailua-Kona that is home to historic temples and ancient petroglyphs. Beach Activities: There are many white-sand beaches and ocean activities available on the Kona coast, from snorkeling and surfing to whale watching and dinner cruises. The waters along the Kona coast are calm and clear, providing perfect visibility of green sea turtles, fish and other marine life while snorkeling and scuba diving. There are surfing schools that offer individual and group lessons, sport fishing charters, dinner cruises and boat tours that will put you up close to whales, dolphins, manta rays and green sea turtles. Things to Do: There's plenty to do in Kona aside from beach and ocean activities. Kona's small towns have many shops and galleries. Take a tour up to the 14,000-foot summit of nearby Mauna Kea, either during the daytime, to enjoy spectacular views, or at night, to take in some stargazing. Visit Kona in October to take in the annual Ironman World Championship, a long-distance triathlon that attracts some of the world's top athletes. Kona Coffee: Kona has many excellent restaurants that offer dishes featuring fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean, but the real treat on this part of the island is Kona coffee. There are many coffee farms in Kona, the only place where Kona coffee beans are grown to produce 100 percent pure Kona coffee. The conditions in Kona are just right for growing these rare beans--elevation, constant cloud cover and rich, volcanic soil. Aside from taking home some of this famous beverage, visitors can tour many of the area's coffee farms, and visit the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
