Our family loves Brooklyn. I'm a life long New Yorker who loves to travel and also loves to come home because I don't take the city for granted.
Cora Daniels-Evans purchased this townhome in 2002
Brownstones are the heart and sole of Brooklyn. My husband and I appreciate the historic details of brownstones and the stories that these old buildings tell. I love opening my door and being engulfed by something that has survived so long but is not too fragile to enjoy. We feel lucky to live here.
The location is spot on; one city block away from the rental with easy access to Manhattan. The apartment is need of an upgrade and attention to details were missed when the apartment was cleaned. Overall, it was good for me, as I wanted to relive living in the city and wanted my husband to experience it. Mission accomplished! Cora was very fast to respond to any questions I had regarding the rental. Thank you.
We spent several days at this rental and had a great time.
Less than three minutes from the subway, local shops and cafes.
Cora and her husband were very helpful they setup the air conditioning after the weather warmed up and also arranged a taxi to the airport.
The apartment is self contained with high ceilings and large rooms we felt very comfortable, the kitchen was very useful too.
This apartment is perfect for the real Brooklyn/ New York experience.
Thanks to Cora
Best decision to rent a apartment and cora's apartment is really comfortable with nice decoration (we love books and pictures). Nice neighborhood, quiet, and good restaurants and shops around. 5' walk from subway and 20' with subway to manhattan. We had some problems to get tickets for a concert at beacon theatre an she helped us in a very unexpected way!
This property is located at the top floor of a lovely brownstone and was an affordable way to visit NYC during the Christmas season. Cora was easy to correspond with and responded to my e-mails/questions within a few hours. This home is around the corner from the subway, which made getting to/from Manhattan relatively easy. (once you figure out the subway system!!)
That said, there were a few drawbacks. The bathroom was not very clean, and you could visibly see dust on the picture frames, lamps, etc. I'm not a neat freak, but clean surroundings go a long way with me. The towels also seemed worn. As mentioned before, you're staying on the top floor of a family home and share an entrance. At first, I felt awkward walking by family rooms to reach the top floor, but that didn't last long. The neighborhood is typical of NYC and is somewhat noisy at night.
Tip: the closest subway stop is accessible via a LOCAL train. (black dot on map) I've navigated the subway system before but forgot about this tiny, but important detail!
The location of the home is very close to the subway. We used the subway the entire time of our stay so it made it very easy for us. There is plenty of room for a family. The only down fall was the 3 flights of stairs but after the 2nd day I did get used to them. If we return to New York we will definitely stay here again.
I travelled from Sydney to New York with my two young adult children. We wanted more room to move than what a hotel could offer. The apartment is on the top floor of a beautiful, old brownstone. Cora and Rondai were most welcoming and Cora replied promptly to my emails prior to arriving. We felt at home straight away. The apartment is filled with books and comfortable furniture. We had room to spread out and each slept in separate rooms. There are plenty of places to eat in the area and we also ordered in delicious Indian food . We are fans of good coffee so became regulars at Brunswick just around the corner and on the last night discovered a friendly Mexican place called Tepache on Marcus Garvey. The subway is very close by and we used it daily, it takes around 30 minutes to Manhattan. There is so much to explore in this incredible city. Would love to return one day!
