About the property

Welcome To The Samsara Suite!

This luxurious and comfortable adobe blends seamlessly with the landscape of the Land of Enchantment. Featuring brick floors, oriental carpets, sparkling chandeliers, and fine art, the open floor plan and four courtyards make entertaining or just relaxing a delight!

The Samsara Suite: Samsara means 'rebirth' in Sanskrit and you'll surely feel refreshed and renewed from your stay! You'll sleep peacefully in a wonderfully comfortable queen bed 'midst soothing sage walls gilded with exotic flowering vines and birds. You'll find plenty of storage, cable television, a secretary desk, and a tiny kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and coffee-maker. Plush velvet armchairs are perfect for watching your favorite show, snacking, reading or cards. Art from Taos and Santa Fe adorns this suite. The sumptuous bathroom features a luxurious shower, tons of storage, plush hotel bath linens, a mirrored wall and granite counter tops.

The great room, with its ebony grand piano, features ample blue leather chesterfield seating. The beauty of the art is rivaled only by the incredible views of the Sandia and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The fireplace adds warmth and ambiance and sets the crystals of chandeliers and sparkling candlesticks dancing.

The adjoining breakfast courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy your coffee while watching the many hot air balloons that fly along the Rio Grande nearly every morning, or for enjoying a glass of wine while the sunset bathes the Sandia Mountains in the watermelon hue that gives them their name.

The Talavera dining room easily seats eight and opens onto the kitchen. Here you'll find everything you need to whip up a snack or a formal meal. Granite counter tops, double stainless sinks and a view of the Asian garden make cooking a pleasure!

The serene Asian garden features a small pond and views of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains. Solar lighting glows along the paths at night. This is a perfect setting for an al fresco meal prepared on the gas grill or cocktails by the firepit. Of course nothing beats the hot tub with its powerful massaging jets after a long day of balloon watching or exploring the Land of Enchantment!

This southwestern Shangri-La is located on the bosque near the Rio Grande and just 15-20 minutes from Albuquerque International Airport. Over 30 miles of hiking and riding trails are easily accessible. An easy drive will bring you to the base of the Sandia Mountain Tramway (the longest in the world) with alpine hiking trails, fine dining, and skiing in the winter. Historic Old Town is located about 10 minutes away and was founded in 1706. There you'll enjoy galleries, museums, shopping, and restaurants. Two of New Mexico's finest wineries are within a few miles of this beautiful Albuquerque home.

Julie will welcome you when you arrive, and will be in residence during your stay. We love to visit if you are feeling sociable, but if you're looking for privacy and seclusion, this home, with its distinctly separate bedroom suites, is ideally designed to provide that.

About Julie Christine

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and love the high country and the high desert.

In my late teens I visited the Land of Enchantment and fell in love!

For the past 45 years I've taught piano and early childhood music education, directed musical programs and performed as a pianist and accompanist and am now mostly retired from teaching. I performed for many years with a fabulous female foursome called the 'Dazzle Dolls!' the voice of The Harmony Project, a nonprofit I founded in 2000. Our mission: to bring the joy and healing of fabulous music to the elderly and veterans, folk who are unwell, and people in crisis and transition. We also performed for private, corporate and community events. Our Big Band, Broadway & Blues concerts have delighted thousands over the years, and we are so pleased to have received the Mayor and First Lady's Charity Gala Award in 2010. Due to the needs of our aging parents and relocation of one of our member, the Dazzle Dolls are on hiatus, but I'm currently working on a dueling piano act that will fulfill the same mission. In addition I am the music director for a nearby church.

I live in La Vie Sereine with my beautiful Great Pyrenees, Holly.

Why Julie Christine chose La Luz Del Sol

When I first saw this property, with its wonderful courtyard and views, gardens and earthy spirit, I knew it offered the perfect harmony of serenity and fun.

With a talented crew, I worked for more than half a year turning its plain beige and brown interior into a fantasy-come-true of Moroccan and Tibetan delight.

The wisteria in the Asian Courtyard is unlike any plant I've ever seen. The trunk has been woven into Tolkienesque vision, and when in bloom in April, the fragrance and beauty of the blossoms are intoxicating. Year round its giant canopy creates a shady retreat for meditating, reading, or tapas and cocktails.

What makes this townhome unique

From any of the four courtyards you'll see balloons nearly every morning! Three mountain ranges! Glorious sunrises and sunsets! Serene Asian and Southwestern gardens! Foot thick adobe walls! Hot tub specially designed with high intensity jets for therapeutic massage.

The grape vines produce fruit bursting with sunshine in late June, and juicy peaches can be picked in July.

The brick floors from the interior continue outside throughout the Asian Courtyard providing a generous and beautiful space for entertaining or relaxing.

The gas fireplace can warm your toes in seconds.

This home is a sanctuary for birds. (You'll see everything from hawks to hummingbirds.) And our roadrunner neighbors come for a snack every morning and evening. Little Rascal, the youngest roadrunner, will walk right through a group of people on the patio to gobble a tender morsel.

Because of the hundreds of hours that went into the painting and decor of La Vie Magique, this is truly a unique home: it is a one-of-a-kind experience in beauty and harmony!

Nice place nice hostess

  • 5 of 5

View is magnificent and each morning at dawn the hot air balloons appear, and occasionally directly overhead. Interior is an art gallery, comfortable patio the same. Better to see than be told. Julie shows great hospitality and helpfulness. Location is quiet but roads make everything easy to reach. All the appliances and entertainment and wifi needed to sustain an elegant life.

Home away from home in gorgeous surroundings

  • 5 of 5

This stay was my second stay with Julie, and I would have been happy to stay much longer! Julie makes sure your stay is as comfortable and private as possible - she was very accommodating of our late arrival, and is always available for any questions you have, or just to have a nice talk! Her attention to detail is fantastic, from the granola and almond/coconut milk, mini fridge and coffee maker in our room, to the wonderful details in the Samsara suite and the rest of the townhouse. Staying with Julie the first time was my first experience staying in a house while the owner was also there, which I had been hesitant of, but I have to say that she strikes the perfect mix of respecting her guests' privacy while also being friendly and accessible. Staying with Julie is a one-of-a-kind experience, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Luxury stay

  • 5 of 5

I had a lovely stay at the property. Everything was thought out perfectly,

luxury linens and a robe provided. I had a separate entrance for privacy. It was clean and I felt safe. The private hot tub was an added bonus and pleasure.

Julie was a wonderful host. One morning while I was having breakfast, she sat down to her baby grand piano and played for me. It was so beautiful and moving it brought me to tears. I look forward to returning.

Relaxing and Nurturing Stay

  • 5 of 5

While we were there for baseball -- my fiance is a huge Rockies fan and wanted to see their minor league team for his birthday -- my own intention was to find a quiet, relaxing place to unwind. Julie's home was definitely a balm for the spirit. I was intrigued by the art and decor and Julie generously shared her experience with the creation of the space. She was such a warm and generous hostess that we immediately felt at home. We will definitely return.

Outstanding!!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first experience with VRBO and it was wonderful. Property was exactly as presented on the website. The property is quiet, safe, private and relaxing. Julie is an excellent host who will help you with lots of suggestions and information is you ask. If you need privacy she respects that. I felt so very comfortable in her home and appreciated all the information she gave me. It really helped my stay to be much more rich. If you want a beautiful place to stay with privacy and everything you need then I suggest staying with Julie. Also, this property is close to everything and getting around from it was a snap. I would highly recommend this VRBO rental! Thank you Julie! Susan
