This is your home away from home. A cozy, newly remodeled, two bedroom, one bath condo located two blocks from the ocean in the Heart of downtown Kailua-Kona.

The second story location affords views of the ocean, mountain side, and Kailua Town, while catching the cool ocean breezes. On the extra warm days, the air-conditioner will help you chill out.

The living area has a sofa, two chairs with ottomans, and a coffee table, with a view onto the lanai and the blue Pacific beyond.

Relax on the lanai with your morning coffee, evening cocktail, or any mealtime (actually, anytime you'd like).

The living room and main bedroom both have flat screen TVs. A DVD player and an assortment of DVDs are provided for your viewing pleasure.

You will find a roomy king size bed in main bedroom, along with a dresser and full mirrored closet doors. Just outside are colorful, flowering Plumeria trees, and ocean breezes waft through your open window.

The second bedroom offers a queen size bed, also with dresser and full mirrored closet doors, and a tropical garden view.

There are ceiling fans throughout the home, including the kitchen, which is usually all you'll need to stay cool.

A fully equipped kitchen, and super markets within walking distance, will allow you to dine in, saving you both time and money that you can spend, instead, on your Island Adventures.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a bench seat. We encourage you to save water and shower with a friend!

A short walk through the nicely landscaped grounds will lead you to the pool pavilion, where you can swim, or relax in a lounge chair, working on your Hawaiian tan. Here, you will also find picnic tables and a gas BBQ for grilling your freshly caught Ahi steaks.

Because you're so close to everything, you won't even need to rent a car until you're ready to go off and explore the rest of the Island. In less than a five minute walk, you've reached beautiful, historic, Kamakahonu ('the turtle eye') Beach. The calm waters make this a safe spot for both children and adults alike. It's a popular beach with snorkeling and kayaking and you can rent such equipment right there. Adjacent to the beach is the Kailua Pier, the jump off point for several boating tours. From here you can also stroll down Ali'i Drive, which is lined with shops, galleries, restaurants, museums, night clubs, farmer's market, parks, and more beaches.

The World Famous Kona Brewing Co. is also just a five minute walk away. They offer a variety of micro brews that you won't find in any store, often with live music, and a delicious menu for your dining pleasure.

Many people find Kailua Town offers enough activities to keep them entertained for several days of their vacation.

Elaine & Dave live on the Hilo side of the Big Island, two hours away from Kailua-Kona, in the lush rain forest. We enjoy an occasional get-a-way to the Kona side ourselves, the dry and sunny side of the Island. We raise Mediterranean Miniature Donkeys, Llamas, and Honey Bees. You'll get a chance to sample a complimentary jar of our Hawaiian Wild Flower Honey if you choose to stay at Hale Pono.

Not only is it in a great location, within walking distance of everything, but we are also able to offer it at a very affordable price. We've stayed at several local hotels ourselves and have found them expensive and inconvenient.

What makes this condo unique

Ocean and sunset views with ocean breezes. Near the route for the Ironman Triathlon. You can do without a car. Plus, you have the opportunity to interact with regular local people, if you choose.

Wow - so much money, for so little

We paid $A LOT for two weeks in this condo, and now that we've been and experienced the town and all it has to offer, realize it is WAY too much. This unit is in a complex that is falling apart. I drove up and couldn't believe I'd agreed to this high rate. Right on Palani, yes convenient, but with all it's traffic; right next to a Pizza Hut drive through! NOT the "island" experience you would expect. It was Kona week after all, so I knew there were no other options. The outside was a DUMP. Falling apart. The washer in the laundry overflowed and was gross. The unit is described as having a gourmet kitchen... but as it turns out no dishwasher. All the neighbors feed the ferel cats, who roam freely. There is no landscaping. The unit is nice inside, but the photos were obviously taken with a wide angle lens, as the place is TINY. And that lanai view of the ocean you see on VRBO? Don't believe it. Someone had a zoom lens. All you see is traffic, car repair, congestion. NOTHING that makes you feel like you're in paradise. Except the heat. And no AC in the bedrooms - only one tiny unit in living room for the whole place.. Tiny, overpriced, industrial strip mall feel - skip it! Entirely disappointed.

Owner's Response: It's always disappointing to receive a negative review and we strive to meet expectations. Our rates for special events are higher than our normal rates, but still below average for the event. We think our description of the unit fairly and adequately describes the unit. It is locate in town, and yes, there are business nearby, the convenience factor of being in the heart of town. This review came in after the guest did not receive a complete damage deposit refund due to extra time being required to clean the unit after their stay. Included in the additional time was removal of used acupuncture needle and containers that were left scattered on the floor. We did not find out until after check out that the guests were conducting a business to perform massage/acupuncture for Ironman contestants. This is illegal in Hawaii without Hawaii licenses and permits.

Comfortable, nice amenities, and in the perfect location

We enjoyed our stay at this location very much. The condo is well equipped, is very comfortable and is in the perfect location for adventures both North and South on the Kona side. The owners are very nice and are easy to work with. We would recommend this condo for anyone wanting to visit the big island.

Great location, great condo, COMFY beds!

This condo was in the perfect location of Kona! You are within walking distance to some of my favorite spots (Scandinavian Shaved Ice, Holy Donut) and for those of you who like to workout on vacation like me, you are right across the street from "The Club" and the weekly pass is very affordable and they have decent equipment and space for a Hawaiian island gym. You are also within easy driving distance to lots of other great restaurants and easy access to the main highway if you are driving to Hilo or the north part of the island.

The beds are so COMFY!!! I will say if you are someone who needs a very cool room to sleep in, this condo is not for you. The condo was a very good A/C unit in the living room that keeps the common area very cool but in the bedrooms the A/C doesn't really make it over there. Something to consider if you like sleeping in a very cool bedroom. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were just fine for us.

LOVELY condo!!! I would definitely stay there again :)

Clean and new and a great location

The condo was clean and everything worked and was new and up to date. The location was great. It is two streets from the water and there is a grocery store only a block away. This condo was exactly what we were looking for in Kailua.

One of the best places I have ever rented

It's a beautiful cozy and warm place in the best location in Kona. Beds are so comfy! I loved the view of blooming trees right outside of our windows. Kitchen had everything we needed and since we traveled with 3yrs old son and 78yrs old grandma we cooked alot :). Living room is charming. There is no dinning table but 4 of us had our dinners and lunches on Lanai and its was fabulous and so romantic! Location couldn't be better. It's just 2 blocks from beautiful beach where we rented stand up paddle boards and kayaks and saw and swam with 100s of dolphins!!!!! Around the beach lots of cute local coffee shop with the best Hawaii coffe and great restaurants. Unless you want to explore the island you really don't need a car here. Shopping center was around the corner from the apparent too.

Our son loved all the sand toys provided by host and we all had so much for on boogy board. Overall very very happy with our experience and when back in town will stay here again

Nice condo, good value for price.

Nice clean, condo, less than 5 minute walk from heart of Kona. Comfortable beds, nice layout. Good value for price. Family friendly. BBQ area could use a little work, could be maintained better. Would stay here again.
