This quiet, private road retreat is actually adjacent to the ski slopes - the best of both worlds! You have the privacy you want with little activity outside your door, but the slopes are about a minute walk through the tree line! There are 3 decks, two in the front and one in the back, that give you a view of the va & tn mountains, as wells as, nature views in the forest behind the house. This home offers a nice roomy open floor plan with a huge great room/kitchen/eating area that includes a fireplace. There is a master suite with a king size bed and walk-in closet and a guest room with 2 full beds, a walk-in closet, and it's own bath. The front of the house has a sunroom with a pull out couch where you can wake to the amazing mountain views.
You have guest privileges at the beech mountain club that will give you access to golf, tennis, and swimming in season.
There is plenty of indoor and outdoor activity. You can hike, ski, golf, swim, sit on the deck, or curl up with a good book! We have it all on beech!
I grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Lees McRea College in Banner Elk. I have a passion for the outdoors and participate in ski patrol on Beech Mountain. My child grew up spending their breaks and weekends on this mountain and racing for the ski eam!.
Weidner Abernethy purchased this house in 1999
My love for the mountains brought us to Beech. We looked at a lot of places, but Beech offered amenities for everyone in the family and had year round fun - it's the place my family will remember as a home away from home!
With lots of places from which to choose, (and I think we saw most of them!) we feel in love with this house the minute we walked in. It is so quiet and peaceful! It is at the end of a private road with only a few homes; but, right through the trees is the beautiful Beech Mountain Ski Resort! You are literally right beside all the fun, but you have this private oasis! Perfect.
I really can't say enough about this house. It was clean, fully stocked, cozy and 5 minute walk to all the action. The owner was responsive to all our questions. We are a family of 5. Two teenagers and a 9 year old and they just loved the house. We will be back year after year! Best vacation home by far!
You can't beat the close location to Beech Mountain Ski Resort when staying at this cabin. It's a short five minute walk to the slopes. The view on a clear day is incredible. The kitchen was well appointed and the cabin was comfortable. The owner was amazingly quick with answers to questions, and arranged to have firewood delivered for us on the day of our stay. We will definitely come back for another visit!
You definitely need a four-wheel drive vehicle if visiting Beech Mountain in the winter. The home is on a steep incline - as are most homes on the mountain - and roads are often icy in winter.
Beautiful views very private short walk to slopes. Owner easy to deal with and enjoyed our stay
Our family enjoyed staying at this location. It's a perfect location to the slopes and activities and the home itself was great. Our family of 4 fit great but could easily sleep 6-8. We plan to return and stay again! The owner is very easy to work with and makes himself accessible to answer any questions! Thanks for a great experience!
Excellent cabin with views and 5 minute walk access to slopes. Sleeps 8 well. Well kept Great sun room.
The house was great clean and well kept walking distance to the slopes and everything at Ski Beech with great views! Drive way was iced over but was still able to park on the street at the end of the drive. We enjoyed our stay and plan on returning
This home sits adjacent to the Ski resort which happens to be in the town with the highest elevation on the east coast, and the activities are endless!
Besides being a minute walk to the slopes, you have falls, lakes, trails, golf, shopping, and festivals year round.
You have access to the Beech Mountain Club that includes golf, tennis, and a pool. Summer brings outdoor music concerts on Sunday evening and street dances on Saturday night. There is a Brews & Views festival, a Kite Festival, and golfing on Beech. You can visit Buckeye Lake, Linville Falls, or Elk Falls. There are white water rafting tours that meet in Banner Elk and zip lines within driving distance. There are local spas for you and even for your dog! You are just a short drive to lots of attractions including Boone (Appalachian State University), Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are multiple mountain bike races and rentals on the ski slope and the changing leaves in fall bring color to the long range mountain views and the annual Oz Fest at the top of Beech Mountain. No, that isn't Ozzie! But do you remember the magic of Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow?
On the first weekend of Oct., thousands of people flock to the yellow brick road at the top of Beech! You can walk through Dorothy's house from before to after the tornado and see all the characters as you visit the land of Oz! This event is huge at Beech and brings vendors, face painters, festival fun!
You can look for the ski slopes to open near Thanksgiving. With the fastest lift around, the Quad lift will take you to the top in a matter of minutes. Once there, you can choose multiple runs or enjoy time at the 5506 club that gives unbelievable views, as well as, a taste of Beech Mountains own brew!
Winter in the mountains is beautiful and there are special events and ski races throughout the season. There is also an ice rink at the slopes and different places to sleigh ride.
You are anywhere from a quarter mile or more from restaurants. The Village of Beech hosts restaurants and brewery's; while the Town of Beech and Banner Elk offer whatever type restaurant you desire.
As spring returns, those long range mountain views give a glimpse of the beautiful mountainsides and hiking trails are all around. You can fish in the various ponds and lakes, or hangout at the Buckeye Recreation Center for indoor and outdoor activities. Grandfather Mountain is a short drive and, in May, the golf course reopens.
The fun never stops on Beech!
