Ganges home away from home!
Excellent! Perfect access to everything in Ganges as well as clean and homey. Would recommend to anyone else considering staying here🤓
All time favorite
We loved it. A perfect location to all you need on the island. The cottage is amazing with the sunniest kitchen you will ever see. We plan on making it an annual stay.
Enjoyed our visit to Salt Spring Island. The cottage was as advertised. It was clean, cozy and nicely furnished. We were a little disappointed that the "Wifi" stopped working after 3 days. Could be a problem if you are on a "working vacation". The bathtub could use a grab bar to assist getting in and out safely. The guest staying above our unit were quiet and didn't disturb us at all. The town is quite nice with lots of little shops to explore. All in all, a great little get-away spot. We would stay there again.
Great view but not great for older travellers.
Nice view in this apartment and it's close to activities in Ganges. It also has a spacious and well equipped kitchen, although its windows lack blinds/curtains, so blindingly bright light streams in from the east in the a.m.
There is no soundproofing between the floors so if someone snores in the suite above you, you'll not get sleep. Further, the place is not well-suited to anyone with mobility issues nor anyone sensitive to the cold. The toilet is low and needs a bar set near it and the entrance to the large tub is deep and hard to navigate. We had the heat up full blast the whole time (in April!). The blankets were damp. Upon returning home, our clothes smell like mildew after having had contact with the couch.
We were saddened to see this review but have jumped on the issues this traveler felt. Our cleaning crew is amazing but obviously something happened on this stay that needed to be addressed and was. Yes the building is older and lovely and sunny in the summer months. We’ll add more heat ideas for the shoulder and winter months.
Comfortable, peaceful, very convenient
This downstairs apartment offered almost all one needed for a three-day break. Lovely water view, brilliant morning sunshine, comfortable bed, large bathroom with washer and dryer, interesting collectibles and furniture and a short stroll into downtown Ganges.
Although advertised as not wheelchair accessible, a few handrails in specific areas would have been an asset to an older couple. Also the addition of an electric (or gas) fireplace would make the living room cosier in the cooler months.
We would be happy to return and can recommend the accommodation.
Brighter in the summer
Fresh flowers and music playing on the TV were a lovely welcome to this little old cottage on the outskirts of Ganges. Shops and restaurants in the town are just a few minutes’ walk from the front door. The downside of this is that there is a certain amount of traffic noise as the main road into town is close by the back of the house (the bedroom). There is a lovely view over Ganges harbour and distant hills from the living room and kitchen. However, if you plan to cook dinner for yourself, I recommend staying here when the days are longer than they were in January, as the kitchen is very dark. I would imagine, however, that in the summer the big south-facing windows in the living room and kitchen would make the cottage nice and bright, and the expansive deck would be a lovely place to hang out. Also, note that, if you are sensitive to light in the bedroom, there was no curtain over the small side bedroom window, which was not a problem in January but could make it hard to sleep during the longer days of summer.
Thank you for the feedback. We really appreciate it as we are always trying to make everything the best we can. Agreed, The kitchen is super light all summer long, however I now see that in the depths of winter, it does become pitch black earlier outside which obviously isn't helpful. I believe I should add extra light for that reason during the winter months. The bedroom high window is facing out to a canopy of trees and it is high which allows no one to see in. We looked at adding an extra curtain, but thought it didn't look as nice in the room. I've asked people in the past if it was a problem but everyone was happy with it. However, its definitely on my radar again and will keep a close watch of feelings on it. Again, I really appreciate feedback as it definitely helps us. Many many thanks.
