Overview

About the property

Spacious Two Bedroom, One Bathroom Apartment

Come stay in our two bedroom 1940's vintage apartment! This place is famous in Kensington because there used to be free range chickens roaming the yard. There are no longer chickens.... but we kept them in mind while choosing the decor! Spectacular views from the large upstairs windows give you a great sense of what Kensington is all about. The original kitchen features yellow and green ceramic tiles and a Teppan Fab 400 electric range and oven (**unfortunately the stove is temporarily out of service for repairs and maintenance**), just like the one your mom used to have! Bath is newly remodeled and stocked with fluffy towels. Both bedrooms feature comfy cal-king sized memory foam beds. The living space features a fireplace and a 40' smart tv with WIFI, cable and Netflix for you to enjoy. Unwind at the end of the day by firing up the gas BBQ for your dinner, and hopping into the hot tub for a relaxing soak.

Don't need all this space? Check out our one bedroom unit!

About Reggie White

My wife and I enjoy staying in VRBO's all over the world! We own rental properties all over San Diego, but we LOVE Kensington! We live only a few blocks away so you will probably run into us walking our two sons and 2 mini dachshunds around the neighborhood. I hope to see you soon!

Reggie White purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Reggie White chose Kensington

We purchased this property because like so many people in Kensington, our gorgeous 1928 spanish house has no extra room for guests! We wanted our visiting friends and family to have a comfortable place to stay when they came to see us.

What makes this apartment unique

This property is in close walking distance to all that historic Kensington has to offer!

Perfect Lacation, Beautiful Simplicity

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the heart of Kensington, a mere 2 minute walk to the village stores. Want to go downtown or to the Zoo? It’s a 10 minute drive. Easy access to the airport.

These folks have done a beautiful job with this gem! Great views of Kensington; all the features you need; a small unit downstairs if you want to travel with more folks; it is CLEAN; and, reasonably priced. All in all, our new place to stay!

Chicken Coop Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Changed our original two bedroom reservation from upstairs to downstairs (one bedroom). Immaculate! Comfortable bed. Washer/dryer in the garage. Plenty of street parking or a quick "UBER" drive to and from the airport. Although we didn't do any cooking other than make coffee, there was a full stove/fridge, micro and various kitchen utensils. Reggie supplied K cups for the Keurig and creamers. How thoughtful! Thanks.

This "coop" was perfect for a single or double occupancy. It's at the corner of Adams Ave. (and Vista Street) which is the main street of Kensington, well within walking distance of several places to grocery shop or dine. Adams Ave. is easy access to major San Diego highways and Kensington is a lovely neighborhood/very people friendly.

We should mention that in keeping with the charm and character of this property, you may hear footsteps from your upstairs neighbors and street traffic.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay and would recommend this rental. Reggie was very easy to work with via email and phone.

Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

I send a review a few weeks ago regarding my family's recent stay (Oct. 5-8). Please check to see if you received my first review. If not, I'll do another. Perhaps it is too soon to be posted. Just don't want to start all over again if not necessary.

Great stay at the Chicken Coop! Wish we had another couple days to take advantage of the bikes.

Super convenient to the Qualcomm Stadium, Coronado beaches and Old Town. First time in Kensington and enjoyed being steps from restaurants and shops. We plan on going back soon as the kids really enjoyed the place!

When wanted to bake pizza the oven/range got in fire. Black smoke was coming out and we end up calling fire fighters. Bad experience

Had to find another accommodation and pay xtra during Labor Day weekend.

Not owner nor VRBO took responsibility for this fire.
