Location, ok. Amenities, ok. Condition, not ok - cobwebs in the corners, light bulbs missing? Could not see without lamps and flashlights, TV electricals. are hazardous - privacy shades/curtains are a joke - taking into consideration the age of the house, it still needs a good cleaning, paint and repair. There are no washcloths with the towels. We did not need to use kitchen items but would not have felt safe without pre-cleaning items because of the general condition of the house itself. Futon (as a necessity due to a person on crutches who couldn’t use the stairway to upper bedrooms - too steep), was most uncomfortable - needs a pad or two to put on it for use as a single sleep on couch, or a pull out-full on bed, which in this case the user couldn’t have been able to do. There needs to be a proper bedroom on the main floor anyway. The yard needs some serious attention especially on the side of the house. While I might rent
from VRBO, again, it wouldn’t be this house,
I am so sorry for your experience. This is a popular home in downtown Hood River. It is an older home that isn't "updated" but all of your issues have been addressed.
Weekend in Hood River
We had a great time, cool & comfortable with the help of the fans despite the 90+ daytime heat. Comfortable beds, nicely furnished kitchen, comfortable living room, very convenient to downtown Hood River.
We had a great stay of three nights. The weather was perfect and the view of the river, kite boarders and wind surfers, and Mt Adams were wonderful. We lived on the porch when at home. We found the house to be clean and well appointed with nicer pans than I have at home, plenty of serving dishes and utensils. We really didn't lack for anything. Thank you.
My daughter, son in law, my 3 years old grandson and, I stayed at this beautiful old house with great character. We had everything we needed and more. Our favorite thing was the back porch facing the river and Mount Adam. What a treat! The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous flowers all over. We walk to town, sometimes more than once a day. My son in law had a blast kite boarding and my grandson enjoyed the children's parks too much, to the point that he did not want to leave. Plenty to do in Hood River and only an hour drive from Portland. Amy was great. I texted her one time asking her about the cable TV because my son in law wanted to watch the basketball game and she replied quickly. Let me add that there was nothing wrong with the cable... I just forgot about the welcome email on my cell that explained everything...
We loved the place and will go back in a heartbeat!
Comfortable home in great location
I recently went here for the weekend with my 4 daughters and my daughter-in-law for a girls' weekend. We had a great time. The home is older but very comfortable, and it is in a great location if you want to be able to walk to downtown. Thank you for a great stay!
Hood River Columbia Street house
A great old house, great view with everything we needed to make us comfortable. Amy Kitt was amazingly attentive to our needs. The grill broke and a new one was on the deck at nine o'clock the next morning! We would definitely stay there again. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer.
