About Gordon Miller
Cinematographer in the Motion Picture Industry. I love this area, its history, people and architecture. My avocation is historic property restoration and at present I am a working on another settler's home up the Medway River in Mill Village. Coming soon...River House.
Gordon Miller purchased this House in 1980
Why Gordon Miller chose Port Medway
Port Medway really is a hidden gem. It is a vibrant year round community situated on a large protected bay at the mouth of the Medway River; a sailor and kayaker's paradise. During the summer there are Art festivals, The Readers' Festival, Privateer days, auctions country fairs and many fun activities. The Location is perfect for day trips along the south shore and a lovely stopping point on your way to or from the Yarmouth Ferry.
What makes this House unique
This was grandma's house so there are kids' toys and books, beach toys, comfy chairs, books, art. There is a lovely screen porch overlooking the garden and small pond/water feature which may have goldfish. Just around the corner is the Port Grocer a combination Cafe/Post Office/General Store which offers Lunch, Sunday Brunch, Art, Yoga and the occasional Musical evening.

Lovely home in a quaint community.
Had a fabulous week. House has everything you need and is a lovely place to spend your vacation. Enjoyed the walks to the wharf each evening and chatting with the locals.
Unique house close to everything
It was fun exploring this historical house. Close to everything - Lunenurg, Halifax, south shore. Steps away from Friday night entertainment & good restaurant. Residents friendly.
Local slice of life
Lovely lobster fishing village, lazy, laid back and friendly. If you need to kick back this is the place. People are friendly, views are lovely, house is well equipped. Civilization (shopping, etc.) is 20 minutes away.
Great getaway place
My two traveling companions and I fell in love with Port Medway. The house was cozy and comfortable. Our host Gordon made us feel most welcome and the location was perfect for exploring the southern coast of Nova Scotia. The highlight was the Port Grocer and Pub. We were fortunate to be there on a Friday night when the Charming little general store turns into a pub with live music! Everyone was warm, friendly and fun! We had a fabulous time that will long be remembered.
Quiet country cottage
This is a unique and cozy place to spend some time away. The vacation home has rustic, English cottage style charm and character. It was relaxing to hear the trickling of water from the pond in the back yard and to explore all the coves and beautiful beaches that are just a short drive away. Thank you for making this experience a positive one.
A beautiful feature property
I stayed here with my husband and parents ( 78 and 82). My parents delighted in the location in the village, the space in the house and the books. I thought I wouldn't get them away as they settled down to read the history of "the port" . We were delighted to have a welcome message on the board and a phone call. The neighbours made us feel very much at home as well and the ladies at the port grocery were helpful and I can recommend their home made delights.
It was lovely to have a fire made up ready to light and my father took delight in being fire master for the 3 nights. The kitchen was well stocked and we found the bedrooms comfortable.
This is an excellent house in a delightful village in a superb province in a great country. We will be looking for an excuse to come back.
