About Dan and Cathy Griffiths
We are currently local's living on Douglas lake in nearby Dandridge, relocating from several other beautiful areas including Vancouver BC by the Rocky Mountains, Columbus Ohio, and Ontario Canada near Niagara Falls. We have been using vrbo to book our own vacations for several years now and prefer the flexibility of fully functional and private vacation homes over hotel rooms .
Dan and Cathy Griffiths purchased this Chalet in 2014
Why Dan and Cathy Griffiths chose Chalet Village
We love our house on the lake but always seem to be bringing guests to Gatlinburg. We missed the rocky mountain views of Vancouver, and one view from the deck sold us on this chalet. It's a view that needs to be shared. Close to the action and fun in Gatlinburg (plenty of live music on the weekends), but just a short drive up ski mountain road for plenty of relaxation, privacy, and scenic views at the chalet. We were used to mountain roads but found this was one we were more comfortable driving to (and we found the Gatlinburg bypass is a nice alt route if we want to avoid the city traffic and enter on the south side of town where the first light is ski mountain road). The front of the property is terraced with some stairs to climb, but you get to enjoy great mountain views without a scary 40ft drop off the edge of deck like other mountain side properties we have stayed at. You will see the town of Gatlinburg from our front deck and a great view of Mt Leconte. Off street parking can handle up to 3 cars.
What makes this Chalet unique
Watch the tram climb to the ski area. Most of the year when the tram windows are open you can hear the excitement as they gently swing over one of the main towers right ion front of the chalet. See the beautiful fall mountain leaves change color, and on the right day see why they call them the Smokies. Most guests have commented on the incredible morning sunrises as they enjoyed coffee on the front deck, can be very colorful on the right day when there is a little breaking cloud cover.

Spectacular Girls Getaway :)
As advertised....A million dollar view!! Sarah's Bear Heaven did not disappoint. The views from the upper deck were spectacular!
The chalet was roomy, well stocked and comfortable. From booking the chalet, to checking in, to checking out was flawless!
We witnessed a spectacular rainbow while relaxing on the deck, and seeing the trams going by was an awesome sight.
On our last night we saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs walking by on the driveway. Later that evening we saw a bear checking the door handle of the vehicle across the street! Luckily the door was locked! The next day when leaving a bear was walking up the road!
Would definitely recommend Sarah's Bear Heaven for your stay in Gatlinburg!
Beautiful ,maticulously clean Cabin!
This cabin is large for 4 people. It was meticulously clean and every comfort of life was available. Full kitchen and Bedrooms have King beds and are very comfortable ! we played the free Galaga video game for hours during the rainy time. Every game was available also. The pool table was also very fun! I could go on and on. Very affordable. Only thing that was scary was the narrow mountain roads which are paved new but very steep. we got to see beautiful bears and cubs cross our cabin on the last day we were leaving! thanks Griffiths!
Excellent cabin to start and finish your day in the Smoky Mountains
A great cabin for our family of 4. We had more than enough room and loved waking up to a new view of the Smoky Mountains every day as the fog and mist rolled over the peaks. Seeing the Gondala lit up at night was also fun. The cabin is well furnished and equipped. We especially enjoyed the Arcade game and the wall mounted fireplace heaters. In unit Laundry was also great. It rained most of our stay, so being able to clean our hiking clothes before we left was amazing. Do note, there are quite a few stairs to get up to the cabin, 3 flights. It wasn't an issue for our family, but if mobility is an issue for you, it's not the best fit. Overall we loved our stay and would come again.
Great location. Perfect size for 2 couples. The stairs were a little daunting, but hey who doesn’t need the exercise😀. Communication was great!
I read many reviews about this property before coming. All of them were accurate and good. We had no trouble finding the cabin and no problems while there. The air conditioning works great and the place is well stocked with dishes, towels, and extra bed linens and pillows. While unloading our vehicle upon arriving, a bear got into the back hatch (yes, we had momentarily left it open while carrying things in), and stole a bag of Doritos. We learned our lesson real quick. While on our stay we also enjoyed watching a mother bear and her two cubs right below the front deck for about 3 hours. They slept, climbed the tree, nursed, and played. What fun! This stay was a 5 star! A heads up though. If you want to play ping pong or pool at the club house on South Baden, bring some quarters with you.
Great little cabin super close to gatlinburg and not far from some great hiking trails
1/2 mile to Ober Gatlinburg ski area, Gatlinburg (3.8 mi), and Pigeon Forge Tourist Attractions including Dollywood theme park (13 mi). Great views of the Smoky mountain's changing seasons, and short scenic drives to Clingman's Dome, Cades Cove, Pitman Center Arts and Craft community
