About Dianne Kramer

Brett Kramer is a high school teacher in Kansas. Dianne Kramer is a nurse practitioner in Kansas. We both love Georgetown and the mountain activity offered here. Our summer vacation in Georgetown was a family outing, with the 3 year old grandson ready to move the rest of his family here from Kansas City. The whole family loved the trip.

Dianne Kramer purchased this house in 2014

Why Dianne Kramer chose Georgetown

We purchased the property after a summer family vacation in Georgetown. We fell in love with the town and the lifestyle, and wanted to have it again, as well as to offer it to other family groups for memory building at a slower pace!

Georgetown is located on the front range, very close to Loveland Ski Area, and about 30-45 minutes from Keystone, depending on traffic and weather. Also close to Denver.

What makes this house unique

This home is very cozy, allowing spots to get away from each other but also plenty of areas to be together in a large group. The location on this very gentle lake promises to be a place to make memories with the grandkids, and a place for my husband to just sit and fish if he wishes. The many windows in the home allow for great ventilation on warm days. We are off the interstate just enough that the noise is not a big problem, but accessibility is available.

Nice and Relaxing time in Georgetown

  • 4 of 5

We had a great, relaxing time at your house in Georgetown. The colors were just starting to turn. The lake was nice to be on and use our kayaks and paddle boat. I would suggest you get someone to replace the burnt out light bulbs, because there was several.

Thanks again. Keep Smiling!

Nice place with some issues

  • 3 of 5

The PROs: Feel is nicer than what's shown on pictures. We got to borrow a little paddle boat with life jackets, which was fun. Place Is lighter and more airy than pictures shows. Great big soaking tub in upstairs bathroom. Owner kindly let us bring a well behaved dog. CONS: This is NOT a three bedroom house. Main bedroom is on a large loft open to the kitchen. So if you are two families there is little privacy and loud. Second bedroom with TV room downstairs (there is also an enclosed separate loft space right above kitchen, but it has no windows or fans). Bedroom downstairs is large, but insulation in house is minimal so one hears every footsteps or other sounds from kitchen which is right above it.

It would have been nice with some soap and shampoo in the bathrooms. Regarding the kitchen a few new inexpensive purchases would help (another cutting board, a few decent knives and replacing scraped teflon pans).

OVERALL: Nice place and helped to make for a great weekend.

a very clean and well equipped property in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in properties in Georgetown, CO, over the last five years. This one is really nice. I rate it very highly because it is clean, light, in good condition, and well-equipped. We go to Georgetown because of its proximity to the Easter Seals camp in nearby Empire.

Location - across the lake. If you are a walker, town is within walking distance. It is near I-70 (all of Georgetown is) - so if you are sensitive to some highway noise, take earplugs (this is true of most of Georgetown). It is about 8000 feet high - take time to acclimate if you are from sea level.

Kitchen is a good size. There is a dishwasher. There are plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc. There were some spices in the cupboard. There was a coffee maker and filters; there was tea but no coffee. To stock kitchen : You'll want to drive to Idaho Springs (Safeway - 10 miles ) or go 10 more miles to the Walmart There is a General Store in town and it does have some things but prices are a bit up-ish. (You should visit it anyhow; it has many exotic products.)

Layout - as you can see, this is not a place for someone who uses a wheelchair or has any leg issues. When you walk in the front door, you are not in any room. You can go downstairs to the bedroom with a sitting room; you can go upstairs to the main area with the living and dining rooms and kitchen; you can go further upstairs to the upstairs bedroom. The downstairs bedroom has a 'secret' small room with some toys and games (great for small kids); the upstairs bedroom is loft-style. But there is also a room "up the wall" (there was no ladder) that had a bed in it - I think kids would love this one too. There is a huge tub upstairs. (wth shower). There were plenty of linens, towels, etc.; there was more sleeping room with the fold out couches and futon.

I would definitely stay there again.

Here are some things that may or may not make a difference to you.

The beds were OK - I tend to sleep on what our mattress maker refers to as a "park bench" hardness, so mattresses are never firm enough for me.

Although there was hand soap, there was no bath soap, shampoo, conditioner nor hand lotion - you'll need to get those. (Some VRBOs provide those things.) There was plenty of TP.

Lots of folks fish early on the lake; they were pretty quiet.

There are tables and chairs on the porch and a BBQ (we did not use) and a table and chairs on the grass for outdoor dining. Lots to do nearby i- go to the Visitor Center for info.

The tiny town of Georgetown has 3 main areas, the historic downtown, where many stores, art and specialty shops for ice cream, baked goods, are located, the area near the visitor center, which includes restaurants, convenience stores, and Family Dollar, and the Georgetown Loop Railroad park, for train rides. The lake area is primarily housing.
