Escape from the city and step back in time in this very tastefully redone, turn of the century mountain country farmhouse. Still owned by the original family, this home is surrounded by nearly 40 acres of private woods and pasture. Explore the woods or gather the family in the pasture for a ball game.
Mountain Country Farmhouse has been specifically designed to cater to and small. 3 bedrooms on the first floor comfortably accommodate 6 persons. Upstairs bedrooms has two more bedrooms for larger groups with an additional 2 bedrooms (2 beds per bedroom) plus a large bathroom.
This home is tastefully furnished with a blend of old and new. Most of the old has been in the home for years adding to it's homey character and charm. The new ties in nicely with the old and with all the modern renovations recently made to the home.
If we can't accommodate you here, we might be able to in one of the other vacation homes we manage. We'd love to assist you!

It was great
We enjoyed our stay immensely.
Liked the home!
Had lot of fun with our family members. House is filled with all cooking utensil and spices. Lot of books, play items for kids and hardwood for camp fire. Wasn't getting hot water when 3 persons take bath at same time..
The farmhouse is situated in the middle of Pisgah National Forest and perfect for anyone into hiking. It has plenty of room for a large family and was nicely remodeled from top to bottom. The modern updates did not take away at all from the old school charm. We evacuated due to Hurricane Irma and while other properties were raising their prices to take advantage of the situation, this one remained the same and even waived a fee for us. Overall the property was very clean and the beds were better than expected. Would stay again!
Isolated, quiet and restful
We were blessed by our time at the Mountain Country Farmhouse. It was quite a ways out of town at the end of the "trail" but we loved the old farmhouse. We arrived during a thunderstorm and had an interesting "start" with an "anxious" 8 year old and couldn't find a flashlight or candles, but thankfully the power returned just as it got really dark. Otherwise, it was great. (You might want to make a good flashlight available!) The history of the old house is so interesting. Beds and bathrooms are much more comfortable than pictures show. Kitchen is well equipped. We even made a pie! Had to improvise a rolling pin and we bought a tin pan, but otherwise we had all we needed. There were eight of us and it was very comfortable. Saw deer and turkeys. Had good visit with friends on the porch. Just lovely. Thankful for our good time in NC mountains!
I will be back
Beautiful home. Clean and warm. Had a couple inches of snow. It was fantastic.
Perfect for family gatherings
Everything was just as expected, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place in the country side. Really impressive family history within the walls of this home, congratulations to the family who decided to keep alive the legacy. Really inspiring, thanks you for allowing us in your home . Also great communication with Laura from the management company, a really helpful lady.
So glad Mountain Country Farmhouse worked out for you and your family. Hopefully being able to split up your stay allowed you to enjoy the mountains as you'd originally intended.
Hope to hear from you again for your next visit to the mountains :-) Laura
While visiting the mountains of Western North Carolina you can stay as busy as you’d like…or not be busy at all. Either can be quite enjoyable Below, I note a few places and activities you may like to explore. All are an hour or less from your vacation home. If you are coming to the mountains to SEE the mountains, then you MUST make a point to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Once on the Parkway, visiting Mt. Mitchell would be a must. Mt. Mitchell has the highest elevation (over 6000 ft) in the eastern half of the United States and simply a fun place to explore. http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/momi/main.php If you visit Mt Mitchell, you may also enjoy a side trip to the Altapass Apple Orchard www.altapassorchard.org/ since it’s located off the Blue Ridge Parkway as well and not too far from Mt Mitchell. Peek at their website events calendar for daily special activities and entertainment (their ice cream is yummy). This region of the country also has a long history of gem mining and there are a few places where guests can sift for gems on their own. Emerald Village includes a small museum, what’s left of a real mine and the opportunity to sift for gems THEATER: Burnsville is proud to be home to the Parkway Playhouse, true “Home Grown Theater”. The Parkway Playhouse has been entertaining Western North Carolina residents and visitors with live theater for over a century! ART: Burnsville, and the immediate surrounding communities, is home to hundreds of talented and world renowned artist. Stop by TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) on Main Street in Downtown Burnsville to learn more about the artist OF this community, the type of art IN this community and the tours offered during the year to preview artist in their personal working studios. Each page provides easy, step by step driving directions from Burnsville. There are also a number of trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
