About David Brady

My family has enjoyed this cabin for over 40 years. My brother and sisters and I have all spent significant time here, whether working as lifeguards during the summers, taking ski vacations as a family, or even living here full-time on occasion. I currently live in nearby Angels Camp where I teach Spanish at Bret Harte High School. I manage the property on behalf of my siblings. My parents also still live nearby. I will personally do all I can to help you have the perfect family vacation at our Cabin!

David Brady purchased this cabin in 1971

Welcoming home with a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

I spend my holidays here with my family we created memories and enjoyed quality time together. It was all possible because of the layout of the house. There is a spacious kitchen to prepare your meals, with a convenient speaker to whip up some delicious food with love. The table sat 8-10 people with 3 island chairs. The deck was beautiful and wide enough to have two tables to enjoy your meals. The rooms at the top had personal patios. You can tell this house is actually used for the owners as well there were a lot of personal touches. The rooms including the living room were very welcoming. I appreciated the flashlights being available in the common area for just in case purposes or for walking at night. The rec room was located by the garage it served as the hang out area, where we watch movies. There were sleds, extra lawn chairs, and chopped firewood to enjoy again this was a very welcoming home. I loved the decorating as well. If your up around 8:30am-10:00 you might see deer eating from across the road, it was exciting for my kids we saw 3 two days in a row. There were instructions in every room along with labels in the kitchen as to were all dishes, pots, and pans belong. I didn't realize there was leaving instructions, until after we started packing. I would definitely recommend this house to my colleagues as a "close" out-of-city getaway (South San Francisco).

Great Family Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great Family home. Clean, comfortable, nice layout with all the amenities and David is a great host. He stopped by to see if we needed anything just after we arrived and gave us some tips to find the little ones some snow which was in short supply. The weather on the other hand was great and we managed to get a slight dusting of snow on our last night for a little icing on the cake. Fun and relaxation for everyone. The fire pit is a great place to gather roast some dogs or smores. The Game and video room is another great spot to gather and spend some quality time together. Or you can just hag out in the house near a warm fire or on one of the decks and watch the deer cruse through the yard. This is a great place to be winter or summer lots of things to do close by as well. Something for all ages.

Thanks David, for sharing your beautiful family home.

Cozy, warm cabin

  • 4 of 5

This was a lovely cabin, just right sized for our 6 family members, with a bedroom to spare. Beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped. We made good use of the fire pit in the back yard for a hot dog and s'mores cook out. Grandpa and the boys spent a lot of time in the rec room off the garage playing, which kept them out of our hair in the kitchen, and we had a family movie night down there as well. Having a tv with videos in the upstairs bedroom was nice for getting the boys settled down before bed. The boys LOVED the play room and bunk beds, and we appreciated there being a baby gate to put up at night across the stairway so we could sleep soundly without worrying. The wood stove in the living room was delightful, and there is a ton of nice dry wood in the garage. Only thing missing was snow, but we did enjoy the lovely little park in Arnold with great play equipment and an adult par course. Very well stocked grocery store in Arnold, and a pizza place, too! Our only snafu was a misunderstanding with the cleaning crew as to our arrival date. When we arrived, the beds were unmade and sheets in a pile on the laundry room floor. Thanks to the previous renters, we couldn't even tell the whole cabin hadn't been cleaned! I called David, the owner, immediately and he was most apologetic. He arranged for the housekeeper to come over immediately, which she did, even tho it was late afternoon, made up the beds with clean sheets, took away the dirty laundry, and did a quick clean of the bathrooms. David refunded me the cleaning charge and was so sorry about the whole thing. This was a very nice place to stay, and we would stay again.

Relaxing, cozy stay

  • 5 of 5

David, the owner, was very quick to respond to all our questions before our arrival as well as some immediate needs right after we arrived. He even bought a new rice cooker (which we enjoyed using) for us, after we inquired if their kitchen had one...that was so kind and thoughtful of him! We enjoyed the spacious and fully-equipped kitchen, the bbq grill, listening to their classic Cole Train and John Denver CDs, playing board games in the well-heated cabin, roasting Smore's and hotdogs in their firepit, playing pool and watching Netflix movies in the rec room, and using the great WiFi connection. Although there was no snow this time, we did venture out to walk around and eat in the quaint town of Murphy's and go hiking at Calaveras Big Trees Park, both close (within 10 minutes from the cabin) and very enjoyable outings that we highly recommend!
