Central location with a few quirks
The river arts district is an up and coming area located nicely between Downtown and West Asheville. The house is located on a quiet street and has a nice kitchen and central living space. There is also a grill on the front porch, but we really only used the kitchen/cooking amenities for the refrigerator. There is a park nearby with a running path along the French Broad.
All the bedrooms are upstairs. There is one bathroom on the first floor and one on the second. The first floor bathroom has a proper shower, but the upstairs bathroom is a clawfoot tub with a shower adapter and what I referred to as a shower curtain "cocoon". We all opted to use the shower on the main floor. Additionally, the bathrooms don't have doors that close or lock but some kind of slatted, closet-type, french closing door things. In addition one of the bedroom doors doesn't latch. Fortunately the four of us are relaxed around each other not to let this be too awkward, but I am not sure I'd want to stay here with people I wasn't as comfortable with or if I expected more privacy.
I think if there had been proper doors on the bathrooms I would have considered this property for return trips. The property really is nicely located to all things Asheville and the neighborhood peaceful. If we'd had a longer trip we definitely would utilize the kitchen and grill space.
Such a great house!
This house was perfect! Bigger than it was sold to be which was so nice. The house is in the perfect part of town! Only a few minutes away from downtown and so many great places to eat.
Thank you so much for staying at our place and the kind review. We are so glad you had an enjoyable time here in Asheville. Thank you for leaving the house so clean and we appreciate great guests like yourself. We hope to have you stay with us again when you come back to visit Asheville!!
Happy New Years!!!!
Would not recommend this property. “Up and coming” neighborhood not there. Booked this property expecting much more of not only the neighborhood but River Arts District. Very disappointed. Although great effort has been made to revitalize this old home, I would not recommend staying with better options throughout the city. The house was very clean, however you could not roll over in bes at night or go to the bathroom without waking people in other rooms due to squeaking beds and floors. Bathrooms lacked modern shower/tub. One claw foot tub with shower curtain surround, the other with small shower stall.
Fits in well in Asheville.
Fits in well in Asheville. Best experience if you’re under six feet tall.
Being the owner and 6'2", I have no problems moving about the house comfortably with the 8 foot ceilings throughout the home. yes the only time I may have to duck my head the slightest is on the stairs at the landing because structurally we could not change that in the renovations.
Artsy, quirky and convenient
Wonderful home. We stayed with my daughter and son-in-law for a wedding. Our family stayed downtown. We were 6 minutes away from them. We were 6 minutes away from all different areas. Location was great, a hop from the River Arts studios and breweries.
I'm very fastidious but this place was clean and welcoming for guests. Flowers greeted us. The house is funky artsy. We made breakfast and had all the needed utensils for cooking.
Read prior reviews. Didn't smell any oil. I'm hypersensitive and allergic, but even if there were prior animals visiting, this place was clean. My daughter brought her dog and this place is animal friendly, as is the town. We went into artist studios and animals were permitted and greeted with treats.
Also read about the slanted floors in prior reviews. It's a fun artsy older house that has been nicely decorated, so the slightly slanted staircase didn't deter me in the least, even with my knee replacement.
I probably would have given this home a five, but I'm 5 ft tall and had to stretch to reach the mirror to put on makeup. I have only two small requests: place a mirror in the bathrooms a little lower so us shorties can make up and have at least 1 full length mirror so I could have seen how nice I looked dressed for the wedding.
I would come back and stay here again anytime. It is a great house and in a great location.
We had a fun and fantastic time at this vacation rental in Asheville! It was truly a last minute trip. Our hope was to find a house instead of a hotel, so that we could cook at home and relax during our stay. We had some concerns regarding a review, but I can assure you that this place was clean and we had no smell issues whatsoever. We had several conversations with Ginee and we certainly appreciated her help in making this happen for us. She went above and beyond in my book. It's just a short drive to the downtown area as well as to the Biltmore. Fresh flowers in every room was a special touch. We will definitely be back!
The home is centrally located in downtown Asheville and just minutes away from The River Art District, Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville with many art gallaries, music venues and restaurants to choose from.
