About the property

Want a true getaway that is just 10 minutes from the village? This well built log home overlooks a pristine stream with another stream flowing down to the side so that the soft whisper of water is never far away.

With 4 acres of privacy and a hiking trail from your door, the property also adjoins protected Pisgah National Forest lands.

The main level of the home features an open floor plan, wood floors, stone fireplace with woodstove insert, suede sofas, fully equipped kitchen, 50 inch flat screen TV with Blue Ray Disc Player and a huge great room off the main living room which functions as a gathering spot for friends and family with large dining table and plenty of room on the other side for a regulation pool table. This room has windows everywhere to bring the outside in.

The rest of the main level consists of two queen bedrooms which share a nice hall bath with tub/shower and unique antique sink cabinet.

Upstairs, there is a cozy loft with seating overlooking the living room and the master suite retreat, featuring a rustic king bed, flat screen TV and spa bath with separate tile shower overlooking the gardens and a jetted tub.

Downstairs is a kid's delight, with one room for foosball and a bunk room that sleeps 4 with adjoining bath.

Washer and dryer are located in alcoves off the main level hall.

Deck space is fabulous--covered and open areas all overlooking the beautiful stream with plenty of seating and outdoor dining options. Around the corner on the open deck is the large hot tub, completely private. The grounds around the home have been landscaped to perfection, with many birdhouses and a couple of benches to sit right by the creek if desired. With its lovely forest setting and creekside ambiance, this cabin will unwind the cares and concerns of everyday life and offer a sweet respite for as long as you can stay.

Even though it is only 5 miles from town, this home is accessed by a little over half mile of gravel road and four wheel drive vehicles are a necessity for winter weather access.

We, a group of 9, had a great weekend in this beautiful and very clean cabin! Check-in and check-out were easy. It has a great location but was not easy to find in the darkness. The directions we received were very helpful. Thanks for a great weekend!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you had a great time at Away from it All! The weather could have been better but bet that stream was really beautiful with all the rain we have had. Thanks so much for the 5 star review and come back anytime--we love our return guests!

Away from It All Was Just That

  • 5 of 5

This was a great property with a wonderful location...1.5 miles of land which backed up to the Pisgagh National Forest. There are streams running throughout the property with plenty of trails to pick up and go for a hike. We went as 2 families with 4 kids between up ranging in ages 4 - 8. The kids had their own space downstairs with 2 bunk beds and play room with a foosball table. Would have been nice to have a TV down there for them. The main level is spacious and lends itself to hanging out. The kitchen is a little small, but the "great room" is wide open with panoramic views and a pool table. The 2 bedrooms on this level are tucked away nicely and share a bathroom. Finally the upstairs master loft is very nice and spacious with a gorgeous rustic-wood kingsized bed.

Only 2 real suggestions:

1. Put blinds or curtains on the bedroom windows. Once the sun came up we were all awake...especially the kids!

2. We had our garbage out for pick-up on the Wednesday, but when we checked out Saturday we were responsible for bagging the remaining 3 days worth of garbage and dropping it off. This is a real inconvenience when you have 2 kids in tow and an 11 hour drive ahead of you. Would be nice if you could pay for an extra pick- up or if the maids would take the remaining trash out when they do their clean up.

Otherwise, thanks for the wonderful week for 2 Florida families allowing us to show our kids snow and go ice skating.

Owner's Response: Jennifer, Thank you so much for the 5 star review and your recommendations! I will pass these along to the owner as far as TV in kid's play area downstairs and blinds/curtains on windows. It is such a beautiful natural setting and so private that many owners in such locations choose to leave off those window coverings to feel part of nature. This cabin does have garbage pick up so you did not need to haul off your garbage when you left, it would have been picked up after your departure. We have had some pesky bears out in The Forest who have been visiting a couple of homes for some dumpster diving, but hopefully they are all hibernating now with the really cold weather setting in. We are so glad that the house and setting (it is actually on 4 acres of land) worked well for your family group--it is just a perfect spot for hiking and letting kids enjoy the woods/stream and beautiful forest. You are welcome back anytime!
