I live in Washington DC. However, my mom was Colombian and went I return to beautiful Colombia I fell in love with Cartagena. I bought the apartment in January and recently completed renovation. The renovation was a full and complete gutting and designed. We hire a graphic artist to paint directly in a few walls of the apartment. Although the building is an older building, the apartment has all the conveniences you would expect from a beach front apartment.
Jaime Zaldivar purchased this apartment in 2014
Cartagena is one of the most beautiful cities in Colombia. While growing up I was closed to the ocean and I now have the need to retire and visit a place close to the ocean.
You will love all the amenities, AC, great sound system, new modern kitchen, electric shades and outstanding views of the ocean and city
we stayed in this spacious apartment for almost two weeks and couldn't have been happier in my selection.. The pictures of the apartment on this site are accurate.. Jaime (the owner) kept in touch thru out our stay to make sure we had everything we needed as well as the property manager Edgar.. The only one drawback were the elevators as they appear to be smaller than what you would expect which will cause multiple trips for if four or larger when checking in and out but I do have to admit there wasn't much of a wait time to get one... The apartment is on the 24th floor and I truly enjoyed the view of the water every morning as I enjoyed a cup of coffee... I'm sure we will check to see if this apartment is available the next time we visit this beautiful city where everyone is friendly and welcoming!!!!!
My husband and I really enjoyed this property. Beautiful water views out every window. The AC worked great and was such a relief each day when we returned from seeing the sites. The elevators were slow by US standards but very reliable and appeared pretty new. Everything was clean and worked well--the apartment was recently remodeled. The front desk was so helpful whenever we needed assistance--such as asking the cab driver to arrange an English speaking tour for us at the Castillo San Felipe. Jaime Z. provided excellent restaurant recommendations, as well as information about where to exchange money, and tips on how much cab fare should be to common destinations. My husband and I stayed for a week, and would definitely recommend it to others. If you want good Paella, go to Chef Julian's Spanish restaurant, not far away in Boca Grande!
The apartment is exactly as depicted on the photos and is very spacious (three good size bedrooms separated from the living room by a long hall, a large living/dining area, and a good sized kitchen). Sliding glass doors open onto a balcony that faces the East and the rising morning sun - it is lovely to open the doors very early while the air is still cool, drink coffee and watch the sun come up. Later in the day, we watched the sun set through the living room windows. My son loved the state-of-the-art media system. I loved the good coffee maker. We all loved the king-sized beds. Jaime helped us find good restaurants in the neighborhood and in the Walled City and provided excellent customer service. The building staff are knowledgeable and very friendly . They helped us arrange day trips to the lava mud and a beach resort and a van to the airport. There are convenience stores on the first floor of the building (bottled water, etc.) that appear to be open around the clock and an Exito Express grocery (sunscreen, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) on the next block.
Originally, it was suggested to us by friends that we stay in the Walled City. Three bedroom properties there, however, are way more expensive so we tried this neighborhood and found that we loved it. The property is an excellent value - it is a close 10 minute taxi ride (about $2) to the Walled City. We went in and out of the Walled City several times a day. The property is clean and well maintained, as is the pool and the rest of the building. I highly recommend Jaime's property.
My first impression of the pictures depicting this property was this is too good to be true. Everything about our stay was wonderful! The owner was more than helpful with my questions regarding the property and the surrounding area and we could not have been more pleased with our visit. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering. The views are amazing, the location is great, and we definitely got our money's worth for the price we paid. Thank you for making our first visit to Cartagena unforgettable!
