Security Deposit issues

  • 1 of 5

The apartment was nice and well located.

However, I am still waiting for the security deposit to be refunded, 3 months after I rented the place. The owner did not answer my emails after saying the security deposit will be refunded on January 14, 2017. Since then no news.

Clean, convenient, safe, comfortable, and quiet!

  • 4 of 5

Not used to NYC apartments, but was very clean, great location, safe, and very quiet. No microwave oven or toaster oven, but I can only assume that "dining out" is normal part of big city living. Bed was comfortable, as was couch. Honestly, when we next return to visit our son in the city we will most likely try to stay here. How's that for positive feedback!

Apt was more than adequate.

  • 4 of 5

Initially had a bit of miscommunication regarding the key to the apt. But it was resolved rather quickly. The exterior of the bldg doesn't reflect how nice

the apt is inside. Bed was comfortable, apt was nice & clean, wifi & tv worked fine. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Very central to everything.

Great Value in East Village

  • 5 of 5

Our Stay: 3 day weekend in January. Thursday night through Monday.

Check-In: Very easy with no issues. Communication prior to arrival was very clear and thorough. Picking up keys after hours was made very convenient through a third-party key service. Make sure to read the email sent after booking as it contains all of the detailed information required to understand how to pick up the keys.

The Apartment: Great little space. Simple with not many frills. 3rd floor walkup on a relatively quiet, safe street but GREAT location very convenient to East Village bars/restaurants and public transportation. Great set of amenities left nothing for want: towels, soap, iron and ironing board, wine opener, some various dishes and pots/pans, dish soap, a Bialetti espresso maker, TV with netflix built-in, reliable wifi.

Location: Awesome. Right in the heart of the East Village. A lot to see/do. Easy to get to public transportation. No concerns regarding safety even late at night (helps that a lot of people are out and about in this area until very late).

Parking: Street parking is available but we gave up on finding any after driving around a few blocks. However, this was on a Friday night around 11pm, so you may have better luck during the day or even during the week. There are parking garages within a 5-10 minute walk. If we did it again we would likely bus/subway in rather than try to park.

Management: Very responsive and quick to answer all questions before, during, and after stay. Provided feedback regarding parking and check-in process beforehand (although it turned out to all be in the email). Resolved issue with wifi within minutes of sending a text by contacting ISP. Resolved issue with deposit refund within one business day by contacting VRBO. A+, very trustworthy.

Conclusion: This will be our first choice if we visit again. Great value over a hotel and a lot of other listings on VRBO. Highly recommended.

Nice Apartment, Fun Neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

Great one bedroom in a fun East Village neighborhood. The apartment has a nice floor plan, good light, and no clutter since it is a rental and not someone's home. It has reasonable access to public transportation with a 5-10 minute walk from several major subway lines. There are two Citibike docking stations within a 2 block radius. There are a few improvements and inconveniences that could be addressed including you pick the key up from a location about a half mile walk from the flat. A code is required to retrieve the key which had not been provided by the owner which resulted in considerable confusion and inconvenience when checking in. There are no instructions in the apartment for things such as Internet access, garbage, etc. It took 24 hours of trying to contact the owner and several incorrect internet keys provided by the owner before I could connect to the wifi. Some basic amenities are lacking such as wine glasses and a separate bin for reclyables.I had asked a week in advance if there was an ironing board and iron and told both would be in the apartment. When I arrived there were neither requiring purchasing an iron. An ironing board was provided three days after my arrival.
