Beautiful, quiet property in Mountain View
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! It is located in a quiet neighborhood, but close to shopping and restaurants. The home is very well-maintained, very clean and the lawn manicured. The shower in the bathroom had good water pressure and good drainage. This may not be important to some, but it is very important to me. The backyard is a very private and beautiful sanctuary. Maria, the owner, was very attentive to any needs we had. Checking into and checking out of the property was super easy. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again if we are ever in the area. Thanks, Maria, for a wonderful stay!
A Nice Cozy Place
We really enjoyed our stay at this little bungalow. Well kept house with nice landscaping and a private backyard. Really nice large patio room too. Very attentive host. Good neighborhood close to downtown Mountain View and Palo Alto.
Bare Minimum Comforts
We have stayed at this property twice. Once in the summer, once in the winter. On the plus side, it is a house with a well-maintained yard so if you have children, dogs, etc. it is a comfortable home, albeit cheerless. It was the winter stay that went wrong. The dining area is on the back porch which when we arrived in a torrential rainstorm, had no source of heat and was therefore unusable. There were also no instructions regarding the house including the internet use which forced us to communicate with the owner a number of times. When we emailed about the lack of lighting (the lighting is bizarre at best), the owner suggested we leave and informed us this was not a hotel. We did, however, get the space heater. Capping off this experience were the beds, the mattresses so old and ruined that no one slept. I felt our complaints were legitimate and although I understand that these properties are not hotels, providing basic human comforts (heat, light and a semi-comfortable bed) does not seem too extreme a request.
This house has all the necessities, but done at a bare minimum. It is well located, the kitchen is adequate and the yard well maintained. But bare minimum seems to be the style, so if you are looking for charming, this is not your spot.
After hosting over 200 guests in the last three years, getting a lot of repeat business and receiving almost fifty 5-star reviews on AirBnB, I felt confident that I could make any guest happy. Christy and John proved me wrong. During their second visit, they bombarded me with several emails per hour often from two different computers simultaneously. While I gladly provided them with an extra heater and answered their questions, their demands quickly became too much for me to handle (John even wanted to re-wire my electrical with dimmer switches!). I offered to refund their rent if they wanted to move to another place (rentals are plentiful and inexpensive in January), but they chose to stay. I am still puzzled why they decide to stay at the house the second time if they did not like it the first time… Usually, it is the strongest vote of confidence and the most positive feedback when a guest returns for another stay.
Maria's property was even nicer than described in the VRBO write-up. Clean, spacious enough for the two of us and with easy access to Stanford, SF and wine country. We will be back!
A comfortable little house
My husband and I stayed in this house for a week. It was the perfect size for us. We cooked in a lot and the kitchen and grill were both up to the task. Loved, loved, loved the sun porch where all the windows opened. The weather was in the 70's while we were there and I lived out on the porch during the day when I could. You couldn't see the neighbors and the breeze brought in the smell of the roses...heavenly. Beds were comfy, shower had good pressure, and there was a comfy place to watch TV at night. The location was nice, in walking distance to many tech companies, the Sunday farmer's market (definitely worth a trip), and the Shoreline Amphitheater (where we went to a show.) The owner was very attentive and replied quickly to any question we had. I would definitely rent this property again.
We stayed for 8 days at this nice house. The garden at the back of the house is secluded and has jasmine hedges and rose plants around. The sun room with the dining table overlooks the garden. The Kitchen is well equipped. There is air conditioning for hot days - which was useful for our early June stay. There are lots of interesting books, especially travel books in the living room. DVDs are provided as well. Internet connection was good. For larger families, need to keep in mind that there is one bathroom. Maria is quick to respond - and since she uses Paypal putting deposit and getting back is quick and simple.
