Walk to Lake, restaurants, amenities
I had my wife, daughter and her 13 month old twin sons with me. It was the highlight of the year. I took my grandsons, carried them one at a time on some beautiful walks with nature. They wouldn't let me put them down when Poppy needed to rest. What a wonderful bonding experience. Beautiful properly and surrounding area.
The condo was very spacious and clean, albeit, a bit on the old side - probably built in the 70's. We particularly enjoyed the large rooms and the fire place where we had a small, toasty fire as the weather turned quite cool while we were there. The large patio with access from a master and the living room was also nice. Even thought the unit is a single level do be aware that accessing the unit involves steps unless you happen to be lucky enough to grab the one and only parking spot on the same level as the condo although plenty of other parking was available. The trail around the lake and the views were wonderful! The amenities at the resort were enjoyable - we swam all the pools, used the hot tubs, saunas and the game room and the mini golf. Read carefully though, I misunderstood and was surprised when we arrived that the amenities were a very short drive away - I thought they were on the grounds and they require a small fee - $2 per person per day. The lake is on the grounds and has a wonderful view with a mountain as a back drop and the trail around it was excellent. The canoes, kayaking, paddle boats are NOT free and a little pricey in my opinion at $16 an hour. We visited the Carolina smokehouse BBQ - nothing to recommend that but the food at Mica's was fabulous though the service was not. The 'walk across the street' to the Sapphire Whiskey Kitchen turned out to be a GEM! We went 2 hours before closing on Monday night - had the place pretty much to ourselves - sat outside on a circular sofa in front of the roaring fireplace and received excellent food and service. Was great to be able to have cocktails and just walk back to the condo without driving. I would recommend more visible posting on operating the heaters and A/C. This is not central HVAC units and we scrambled looking for operating instructions. Could have called but it was late when we needed some heat. Dave was extremely easy and laid back to work with. Visited Gorges State Park and hiked and saw beautiful vistas and went out at night and the sky was dark and awesome and saw shooting stars! We will be back!
Nice and clean and a great location. The condo was in great shape, spacious and clean. TV in two of the three bedrooms. Dishes and other kitchen utensils available (we didn't use as when I go on vacation I don't cook!). Sheets and bathroom needs were all available. Since I am on a blood thinner I am cold a great deal of the time and I couldn't figure out how to get heat into the spare bathroom for showers until I found the oil radiator heater after that I was fine.
It is in a great location. The lakes around there are beautiful. The amenities were great. My sister and I went zip lining while my son took my daughter to swim and play put put. The zip line staff were amazing, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and followed/explained safety issues at each platform.
I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely think of doing this again. Yes I will recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you very much.
Our stay in Sapphire Valley was a week to remember! So much to do and so little time. The condo was awesome for a family of 5 -- spacious and clean. It's location in the Hilltop Villas gave us opportunities to go see the sites and enjoy the towns all around and then return back to our condo for rest & relaxation before heading out for another day. We would highly recommend this for a great family get away!
Great amenities with sapphire valley resort! Loved the lake! Very comfortable condo.
