The ride to the North Shore is full of beauty, tropical smells and well worth the travel to a peaceful, rural beach community. You will drive down Dole Road seeing and smelling pineapples, coffee beans and the gorgeous aquamarine Pacific Ocean.
Then once on the North Shore Kamehameha Highway becomes a rural road with the quaint village of Haleiwa followed by a breeding farm for quarter horses, then a century old horse ranch that was once a major dairy farm, followed by turtles sunbathing on the beach, with the famous Waimea Bay straight ahead. Across from the bay lies the famous Waimea Botanical Garden where once was one of the largest Hawaiian Villages, Waimea Ahupua'a (a Hawaiian chief's sliver of land from the mountain to the sea). This is a must to visit with a beautiful waterfall and gorgeous tropical plants. Their moon walks are romantic and soothing. After the bay you will drive along pristine beaches Three Tables, Shark's Cove, Log Cabins, Rock Pile, Ehukai Beach (to the left the famous Pipeline), Rocky Point then finally you see Sunset Beach where the World Pro surfers compete every Nov and Dec. Just before Wehiwa Place you will see the famous Ted's Bakery on the mountainside. Here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner North Shore style. Oh and don't forget to try Ted's famous haupia cream pie.
As you drive up Wehiwa Place you will see the nice, quiet neighborhood our ohana is located. We are at the very end of the road giving you privacy yet an easy walk to the beach.
