Available is a 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom house overlooking 80 acres of privately owned land that is close to the city. With the addition of a 9 person bunk bed room, it can easily accommodate 19 people.
The house was built by the owner. It took 6 years and was constructed with salvaged materials from historic properties. The exterior doors, the interior beams, the flooring, the stairs, and the cabinets were made from salvaged heart of pine from a cotton mill south of Atlanta. The mill work was made on site, as well as the exterior doors including the garage doors.
The house is located off Bluff Road, just minutes away from USC, Williams-Brice football stadium, Fort Jackson, and the Congaree National Swamp. The Millstone at Adams Pond is less than a mile from the house. For golfers attending the Masters, the house is just an hour and 15 minutes away from Augusta, Georgia.
Each room is furnished with a queen sized bed, with the exception of one room having 3 sets of tri-stacked bunk beds. (Sleeps 9)
Surround Sound Speakers that connect to phone/tablet, Game Room, Subzero Refrigerator, Commercial Range Stove/Oven with Griddle, Convection Oven, Bosch Dishwasher, Microwave, Keurig Coffee Pot, Toaster, 2 Washers and 2 Dryers, Iron/Board, Linens and Towels, Jacuzzi Tub, and Outdoor Grill
My wife and I have four boys. We have a small septic company and are very involved in our church at Palmetto Baptist Fellowship. We have lived on the farm for the past five years and have enjoyed Hesed very much. We hope you will too!
David Welsford purchased this chateau / country house in 2008
Though isolated from the city life, the property is still very close to downtown Columbia. It is located just 12 minutes away from the Gamecock football stadium. The neighbors are mostly large land holders. Thousands of vacant acres surround the property and the wildlife is abundant.
The house was custom designed and built. Very little of the materials were bought at local home improvement stores. The bricks were reclaimed from a mill house over 100 years old. The lumber and beams came from the demolition of a cotton mill in Georgia. It is a great property to host family and friend gatherings during holiday seasons, graduations, or weddings.
Amazing house with tons of character! The reclaimed materials used for this house make the house, the wood floors, the wood beams, the tall doors - amazing to see all the heart that went into putting something like this together! And the barn doors - not shown in photos, but cover the backside garage entrance, are storybook! Perfect seclusion on acreage but yet minutes from Columbia! The perfect getaway!
We had a group of guys stay here for a Masters golf trip. The owner was fantastic and was helpful at all times. One of our guys was flying in from a different city and he even was nice enough to pick him up from the airport, as our flight was running behind. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.
This home is perfect for a long group. My husband and his high school soccer team stayed here for a tournament they were in Columbia for. This house had everything from lots of yard space, a large kitchen to a game room for the boys. This home is very clean and furnished with everything you need! Also, David and Sally were an absolute pleasure to work with. Overall, this was an excellent experience! We would definitely stay here again :)
Hesed was the perfect property to accommodate my family and friends this past weekend. The old, reclaimed wood is, quite simply, a treasure. And, the location is perfect - it's not often you can have the peace and quiet of the country AND the convenience of the city. To top it all off, David is an incredibly gracious host. He is polite, attentive and - while he did not hover - he was there to assist when we needed him during our stay. We hope to return soon!
The home was lovely and met all of our needs. The spacious kitchen and bedrooms and baths made us all comfortable and relaxed. We appreciated meeting the owners. We loved our stay!
It was truly a blessing to have a place large enough to hold our family for our reunion. It had taken us much time to deliberate on going with a hotel or this home. We appreciated David's patience with our inquires before booking the home. The house itself is truly gorgeous and spacious for the five families that stayed at the house. All the young kids enjoyed the game room and bunk room. And the kitchen provided ample place for us to gather for meals. But having the ability to truly relax especially with energetic kids, to save on our meals by having a kitchen to use, and to gather centrally allowed us to have the reunion we had envisioned. I recommend this home to anyone considering a big group gathering, family reunions or for retreats. David personally wanted to make sure that we were welcomed our email exchanges were always prompt and polite.
