Overview

About the property

Comfortable Post WW2 home with 9' ceilings and hardwood floors. Large rooms.

This brick home located in the desirable Augusta Road area is near to downtown, the Greenville Hospital and Greenville Tec. With central air and gas heat, the house is comfortable with all the amenities you are used to in your home with cable TV and WIFI. It even has a Roku box that enables you to sign into your favorite subscribed, internet sites like Netflix. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and plenty of hanging space. The bedrooms all have storage and seating and there is a full size dinning room that will seat 6 guest. One of my favorite spots is the breakfast nook off the kitchen. This is a little sitting area where you can enjoy your coffee and eat a quick meal.

Downtown Greenville is an exciting place with numerous restaurants and many activities. The City of Greenville has won a number of awards for it's vibrant night life and events.

Something that visitors are not aware of is Greenville's close proximity to our mountains. There are State Parks and numerous hiking trails and many waterfalls to be seen in only 30 minutes drive from Greenville.

The city of Greenville has made a big effort to make downtown bicycle friendly. As you drive through Greenville, you will see many designated bike lanes.

Also, a very popular activity is to walk or bicycle the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This 'Rails to Trails' route extends from above Travelers Rest (north of Furman) down through Furman University and through Greenville and ends at Conestee Park. Bicycles can be rented in several locations. The terrain is not hilly as the Trail follows an old railroad bed. So, it's easy peddling.

In considering renting my home, please be aware that I do not allow any parties, receptions, or other events that brings in multiple people and vehicles. My parking is limited and the neighbors do not appreciate large, loud events on this residential street.

About Miller Putnam

I'm a retired General Contractor. I was born and raised in Greenville and went to school at Clemson University and the University of North Carolina.

Miller Putnam purchased this house in 1995

Why Miller Putnam chose Upcountry

This home has been in my wife's family since the 60's and my wife and I actually lived there for a period of time when we first married. It is a lovely home and and conveniently located in near the center of Greenville. This is our second house to offer through VRBO, the first is in Charleston.

What makes this house unique

Central location in Greenville with Greenville Hospital less than 5 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were travelling to Greenville for an event at Furman University and were surprised to find ALL downtown hotels were fully booked. We use VRBO when we travel, but again nothing was available. I found this rental online and was concerned by the lack of reviews, but then was told it was just coming online as a new rental and we were the first guests. The original pictures were not even close to reality. David and his team must have done a lot of work before we arrived. What a great classic house just a short walk to several restaurants. It was like a nice bed and breakfast where you have the whole house. Kitchen had everything for an extended stay and beds and bedding looked brand new - Nice flat screen and wifi for the kids and each child had their own bed. We plan on more visits to the area and will stay again if available. Home is at least 50 years old, so bathrooms are small but well done, full size laundry, nice dining room, I give 5 stars for location, size, quality and service. Well done!!

Was perfect for our family of six

  • 4 of 5

Fully satisfied our needs as a family of four adults and two grown children. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was well supplied with all the utensils, dishes, etc. we needed to cook our meals each day. Also very well located to downtown and the other areas we needed to get to. It is an older facility with some associated issues such as bath tub useable only for a shower but all in all met all our needs.

Great location for getting around Greenville.

  • 4 of 5

This home is in a central location for getting around the area and just a few minutes from downtown. If you like walking neighborhoods you couldn't ask for a more gorgeous neighborhood just around the corner. The house has all the amenities of home.

Great escape from the hurricane!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, 2 daughters and I had to evacuate from the coast due to Hurricane Matthew. This 3 bedroom house was a very pleasant escape. The house is well equipped in the kitchen and has lots of towels and wash clothes. Miller was so gracious and even told us we could stay an extra night gratis if we needed to .

our little house was in a great location for everything we needed to do.

  • 4 of 5

the home was cozy. We had 4 adults and two kids and we fared quite well. One bed was very soft and one was very firm, the kids had the twin beds and slept well. We didn't use the kitchen other than to make coffee but it was well stocked with dishes etc. It was a little musty but cleared up when we turned the air on. All and all it was a good experience. thank you.

Peaceful and personable

  • 5 of 5

This house was very pleasant for me and my family. The decor was personable and tasteful. I especially liked the location of this house which was in one of Greenville's finest old neighborhood. Even though it was on a semi-busy street, the feeling of the house was serene and peaceful.
