Nestling high in the small peaceful hamlet of Filloulas, La Muscadelle is in the perfect situation to enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and woodland through the valley. A lovely terrace, pool area and garden for the relaxing warm days and evenings overlooking the fields and woods. The accommodation is spacious, and just ideal for that much needed break away.
La Muscadelle is situated betwixt Bergerac and Perigueux with easy access to both. It is situated on the edge of the Double Forest which offers sandy swimming lakes, walking, cycling, nature reserves and large Carp fishing lakes. Two of the region’s main roads (A89 and RN89) are within 5km, providing access to the many attractions nearby making this a great holiday base. Visit the many Bastide villages and Chateaux in the region. Lovely regional markets close by. Wine tasting is fun and enjoyable and we can recommend and book a tour of the vineyards for you on request. Within 30 minutes you have vineyards and cellars on the Route des Vins, Bergerac's Old Quarter, Bastide villages and boat trips on the Dordogne River. Not forgetting Bordeaux and its surrounding area (St Emilion at 102km) with its wine tours. For the more 'energetic', there is canoeing, walking, horse riding, cycling and swimming. A visit to the famous Lascaux caves is a must.
The Dordogne is one of the most beautiful and natural parts of south west France and the visitor is spoilt for choice as to how to spend their time.
We have King/Super king size beds with quality bedding to provide a comfortable stay. Single beds on request. French doors from the lounge, kitchen and downstairs bedroom all provide direct access to the elevated terrace and swimming pool. One side of the terrace is covered providing an ideal spot for barbecues and alfresco dining.
Heated swimming pool. Guests enjoy the use of a fabulous secluded solar heated swimming pool. After your dip, why not enjoy a spot of sunbathing on a comfortable sun lounger or spend a walm, balmy evening by the pool with your favourite tipple. Heaven!
FREE INTERNET AND PARKING.
Visit the Montréal Chateau nearby to us.
Claude de Pontbriant, the Lord of Montréal, cupbearer of the Dauphin, was, on 3 October 1535, alongside Jacques Cartier on the banks of the Saint Laurent River when the navigator gave his name to an Indian village which later was to become the second largest French city in the world. The Pontbriant family founded the City of Montreal in Canada and named if after the castle we see here today.

About Mrs Brenda Connolly
We are from the UK, South West of England. We moved to France in 2007 and chose the South West of France for its temperate climate and the beautiful countryside and vineyards. It has been my dream to live in Beau France for many years. SW France has the climate, food and wine and we have always found the people very welcoming and friendly. Also a distinct lack of traffic on the roads. Always loved to come and stay here on holidays and then found we were visiting close friends more and more who had already moved here. We were being left behind! I was a financial adviser back in the UK and life had always been very busy with no real time to relax. So with my partner Michael we finally moved here in 2008 and started a bed and breakfast amongst the vineyards of Monbazillac. We enjoyed a successful 6 years and decided to expand and have a house that can part rent independantly as well. We have moved from the vineyards into the lovely countryside with its surrounding forests and sandy lakes.
Mrs Brenda Connolly purchased this House in 2014
Why Mrs Brenda Connolly chose Périgueux
Here in this small hamlet it is quiet and tranquil. In the countryside, yet still near to villages and market towns. Easy access from the motorway and smaller routes.
What makes this House unique
The woods are behind us and ideal for cycling and walking. Being on the edge of the Double Forest we have lovely swimming lakes with sandy beaches just 30 minutes from us. We are conveniently situated between Bergerac and Perigueux, the capital of Dordogne.

Beautiful property! Great location! Wonderful owners!
Thank you Brenda and Michael for a wonderful stay in the Dordogne. We brought our family of five to this amazing property in the summer of 2015 and could not have been happier. The house is centrally located to provide access to a number of perfect day-trip sites, and Brenda and Michael were kind enough to meet with us in order to recommend local attractions and restaurants as well. The home was clean and spacious and provided beautiful views of the countryside. While there was plenty to do inside (movies, games, reading, etc.), we absolutely loved the outdoor space! The kids couldn't wait to get back to the house each evening to enjoy the refreshing pool. Brenda and Michael took extra care to ensure the kids had plenty of fun inflatables and pool games to keep them occupied. We loved dining at the outdoor table and could easily keep an eye on the kids while sipping the tasty wine Brenda and Michael left for us. We would highly recommend this property to others!
Definitely 5 star, and Brenda and Michael Deserve a Sixth
Located in a beautiful hamlet, our GPS easily led us right to the front door of La Muscadelle. First impressions mean a lot, and ours was wonderful. Brenda and Michael greeted us like we were old friends and after they helped us put our bags in our room we got acquainted over a bottle of wine. La Muscadelle is located in a quiet, peaceful country setting just far enough from the tourist centres to be a refuge from a busy day touring, but not so far as to be distant. Bergerac and Perigueux are less than 30 minutes, and there are several chateaux and wineries to visit along the way.
This is Brenda and Michael's second B&B and it is definitely a more interesting building than its predecessor. Large rooms, comfortable furniture, post and beam construction and french doors opening onto views of the countryside and pool created a relaxed atmosphere that made us not want to leave. Indeed, after lingering over breakfast (Great coffee Mike!!) and discussing plans for the day, we found it hard to tear ourselves away before 10 am.
Brenda and Michael are wonderful hosts, providing the smallest details for our stay (mini-flashlights for late night arrivals), great breakfasts (fresh croissants and breads every morning), and the most comfortable bed in all of France. Yvette and I spent 5 weeks comparing that bed to others throughout the country, so we know.
We'd recommend La Muscadelle to anyone looking for a quiet refuge in the countywide, or to someone touring Bergerac, the Dordogne or Perigueux. You won't be disappointed.
