The finely restored rural villa is perfect for a relaxing holiday in a spectacular area of Tuscany characterized by vineyards and fantastic panoramas.
The villa has 7 double rooms restored in a simple and refined style; each room has its own en-suite bathroom. On the groundfloor: large living-room with fireplace, bar – equipped with professional espresso and cappuccino machine, armchairs, comfortable sofa; a dining-room with a central oval table, professional kitchen with a 6-rings stove, professional oven, one large and two small fridges, professional automatic dishwasher, cutter, toaster and a wide stainless steel surface.
Also the swimming-pool has its own style: located in a panoramic position, it is stone-built infinity pool with a gorgeous view onto the valley. Inside the swimming pool you can relax while seated on a stone bench equipped with hydro-massage plant.
Next to the villa, approx. 20 mt., is the proprietor’s stone house. We will be glad of helping guest enjoy their holiday, without intruding their privacy. Upon request, before arrival, several extra services are available: you can have a breakfast buffet and skilfully prepared local dishes for dinner. Also pre-arrival shopping and extra maid service are available. We can also help guests planning taylor-made winery tours, and can arrange cooking classes on spot.
I'm Federica, the owner of Antico Podere Marciano. I am Tuscan but did not grow up in this area. Since I was a little girl I have been dreaming of speaking various foreign languages, travelling, and working in the tourist sector. I have been studying simultaneous interpreting with English, German, and French and travelling quite a lot during the time I was attending university before getting the degree. After, that, I have been working for a couple of year as interpreter and translator in a big company near Bologna, meanwhile my dream of working in the tourist sector was still there...In 2003, my family and I decided to look for a nice place in the Chianti area to set up a B&B/self-catering villa. I saw various different places, before seeing Marciano..it was love at first sight...we therefore bought the property and undertook a very intense and radical restoration job, which lasted for about a year. In August 2004, I opened the place to the public..I had no previous experience in managing a small hotel and I must admit it took a while to understand not only the front office job, but also what lays behind it..Ten years after the beginning of this 'adventure' I must say I am very pleased of my job and feel very happy sharing my beautiful property with people coming form all over the world, while being helpful to them.
Federica Giacobbi purchased this villa in 2003
I chose Marciano, simply because its absolutely fantastic, the view, the lights, the surrounding quiet, the perfumes of the garden, and..its highlight..sunsets!!!
As a group of 6 couples we spent a week at Antico Podere Marciano last month. The villa was beautiful and the hosts wonderful. Everything is exactly as in the photos - the layout has allowed for privacy for all couples and the views from the grounds are stunning. We spent many afternoons cooling down in the pool and evenings enjoying Federica and her staff's cooking, which was amazing. We highly recommend this gem in Tuscany, we would return in a heartbeat!
