2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom Victorian home on magical stairway surrounded by gardens
Our home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in San Francisco's Corona Heights neighborhood. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, and sleeps up to 4 guests. The house is a freestanding Victorian and has views of Eureka Valley, Corona Heights, and the East Bay from its many windows. Please note - our home has a 30 day minimum rental period.
The large master bedroom is upstairs with a double bathroom en suite accompanied by a walk-in closet. This bedroom has a queen bed and chaise lounge (to enjoy the view). The master bedroom (as well as most of the rest of the house) enjoys 11 foot ceilings.
Also upstairs is a modern kitchen. The kitchen leads to a large patio where you can enjoy lunch while listening to the fountain and enjoying the backyard.
The remainder of the upstairs is a great room with custom furniture constructed from a single California black walnut tree (that died a natural death:)).
Downstairs you will find a study and an additional bedroom. This bedroom features a full sized bed and an en suite bathroom.
Our house is in the center of the city so you have access to all that SF has to offer. With that said, we are fortunate to be located on a very quiet cul-de-sac thus providing a quiet, peaceful experience. As an added bonus, the house is located on one of San Francisco's most romantic stairways - The Vulcan Stairs.
In terms of getting around:
- The house is a 10 minute walk to the Castro where you will find grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, and public transit (the F, K, L, T and M subway lines are located here).
- If you have a car, private parking in our garage (with automatic opener) is included. Note, a car longer than 189 inches will not fit.
There is absolutely no smoking in the house or backyard. The house lends itself to entertaining but is NOT a party house - like most other places in the City, the neighbors live within close proximity. There's fast internet access throughout the house, and there are plenty of entertainment options.
This is our home and being such, we ask our guests to be very conscientious. Ideally, we would prefer a couple who might have a friend stay occasionally. Alternatively, a couple with a single child would work (the house is not conducive to children less than 10 years old).
Our housekeeper will come every two weeks to clean the house.
We hope to welcome you.

What makes this House unique
There are few freestanding Victorians in San Francisco and fewer still located on staircases with large, terraced gardens.
Elegant Victorian with excellent views and lovely gardens
We stayed in this home for two weeks in January. The home is beautifully designed and renovated, and well-kept. The Craftsman-style furniture, art collection, well-appointed kitchen, and capacious shower were all much appreciated. Views are spectacular. The garden is welcoming, and one of the great stair walks is right next to the home, so there is always some handy exercise available. The home is on a very quiet street, and the lively Castro district has a great neighborhood feel. Blocks away are dozens of cafes, swanky restaurants, and unusual shops. There is a good grocery store about 4 blocks away. We didn't have a car so we walked everywhere — to the Presidio one day, and North Beach another day. And Uber is available for nighttime ventures. Buena Vista, Corona Heights, Twin Peaks, and Mount Sutro are within walking distance. Rick and Pat were great hosts, pointing us towards some great restaurants. We felt very much a home there, and would eagerly return.
Enchanting home in the Casto
My husband and I rented this home for a holiday surprise for our two teenage daughters and what a perfect treat it was. The home itself is amazing in its charm, warmth and exquisite taste. One easily feels the care and love that the owners have poured into the house and gardens. While I never had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Rick was always available via email to answer and questions and to make sure our stay was smooth and comfortable. The house is beautifully nestled next to the Vulcan stairs which offer great exercise and are a gateway for exploring the City's neighborhoods. The street is very quiet, safe and full of other nice homes. At the end of the trip, I asked our 14 year old what she liked best about the City. She said, "what stands out most is the house. All the stuff we did was awesome, but what really made the trip was the house and how good we all felt in it." I couldn't agree more!
Beautiful Victorian Home!!
We were extremely happy and excited staying at this beautiful Victorian home in a great neighborhood that is central to many areas. We met Rick, one of the owners, who was most helpful and friendly. He made sure we were comfortable, and all details were addressed to make our stay seamless and convenient. His attention to these details were greatly appreciated, down to a welcome bottle of wine and fresh ground coffee. What an amazing host, treating us as we were his best friends. So welcoming. Their location is great for hiking up to the Buena Vista Park, walking to golden gate park, exploring the neighborhoods i.e., Cole Valley, Castro, Haight Ashbury, Noe Valley and the Mission District. Quiet street and friendly neighborhood. We HIGHLY recommend this wonderful home!!!
Our home is located in the geographic center of San Francisco; everything within the City is within a few miles.
