Quite the “work trip”

  • 5 of 5

I do travel a good bit for work. Going from hotel to hotel wears on you a bit even if the destination happens to be Hawaii.

Staying in Michael and Joy’s studio was like no other work trip. You don’t get daily room service, the noise from the adjacent room, or the overpriced restaurant or bar from down stairs. What you do get is a mini home away from home. The studio has everything in it to make you feel right at home. Nothing is missing. The welcome basket makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. It’s easy to get to. Parking is never a problem and you have no need to pay or tip the valet because the car is right out front. Then again, the car is almost not needed because you are really only 5 min walk from one of the best beaches in Hawaii. I just grabbed the provided beach chair and a beverage and in minutes I was fully relaxed on the beach.

Let’s face it, the travel to Hawaii is long. By the time you pull up to the studio your pretty tired. I was met by Joy. She showed me in and answered the questions that I had. I got settled in and put a few things in the refrigerator. In short order I was under the ceiling fans smelling the tropical beach scents. I looked forward to returning back to the studio after each day of work. It may have been a work trip but it was the most relaxing week of “work” I’ve ever had! If I do have any complaint it is the fact that my wife was unable to join me on this trip.

Wonderful stay in a lovely place

  • 5 of 5

Michael & Joy are wonderful and made me feel completely comfortable. From the warm welcome to the little touches to make it feel like a home away from home, they made my visit very enjoyable. Terrific location close to beach, Kalapawai market, and town ... clean ... comfortable ... quiet and peaceful ... no hassle ... you can't ask for anything more. I'd be delighted to stay here again.

Perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here August 2-8 while on the island for a Spartan Race. We arrived a few days early and stayed a few days after the race to enjoy a little island time and this was simply perfect for what we wanted. Cute, quiet, indoor and outdoor space, and walking distance to the beach and to shops/restaurants. And while we do enjoy the heat and beach, the AC was nice to have in the evenings to cool down before bed. Kailua is amazing and to have this as our home base was great. It was the perfect size for us, and having the kitchenette was great to keep our own snacks and drinks. (That and to be able to keep our Poke leftovers from Tamura's fresh for a next day snack!) We loved being able to walk over to Kalapawai Market for coffee and a stroll on the beach in the AM, and being able to walk into the village for dinner in the evenings. Upon check-in Michael was there waiting to help us with our bags and give us the tour, and really couldn't have been a better host. After chatting for a few minutes, he gave us some pointers/ideas for things in the area and then we were on our own for some island time. We definitely recommend a stay here, and would certainly do it again as well. J&J

Kailua beach studio very close to beach

  • 5 of 5

This place has a fantastic location and is a high quality, clean, bright, private studio with 2 good air conditioners and an outside lanai. The well equipped kitchenette has good fridge with a freezer. There are a delicious basket with local exotic fruit and a box of Hawaiian chocolates.. The owners are very nice people. I would highly recommend this property.

felt like home

  • 5 of 5

We spend 12 nights here and felt like home, still sad to leave. The unit is compact but just right for 2, all we needed was there to make breakfast in the morning or bbq in the evening.

There’s plenty of space to store your belongings and organize the way you like. The interior is island style and tastefully selected, lots of books and guides to plan your days on the island.

The location is great, right around the corner to beautiful Kailua beach. Kalapawai market or watersports gear rental is close as well, so no need to use the car all the time.

Michael and Joy gave us a warm welcome and were always helpul when needed. We cant wait to come back and live here again .

True aloha spirit, mahalo from Roman and Silvia!

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

The studio fit our needs very well. It has everything for two people to be comfortable. The hosts are friendly, accommodating and respond quickly to inquiries. The location was exactly what we were looking for; close to the beach and walking distance to stores and restaurants.

Car: recommended

The property is located near local activities, such as bicycling, kayaking, surfing, kite boarding, wind surfing, snorkeling, and hiking. It is in walking distance to the district recreational center in which tennis, basketball, and swimming can be enjoyed. A 10 minute walk will put you in the center of Kailua town in which shopping or sitting outdoors and having breakfast, lunch or dinner are only a few possibilities. You are in a 7-10 minute walking distance of the Farmer's Markets that are held on Thursday and Sunday.
