**Many cities in the Coachella Valley are reducing or eliminating Short Term Vacation Rentals. Rancho Mirage has just implemented more restrictions which I list below.

NOISE: The new ordinance stipulates that no sound amplification devices shall be audible at any time outside vacation homes. In addition, quiet time (no outside noise) is from 10pm to 10am.

PARKING: No street parking. Our driveway will hold a maximum of two auto's. Because of the parking limitations we cannot accommodate additional daytime guests. "Failure to comply may result in a citation, fines and expulsion from rented property." If you are looking for a quiet neighborhood experience then this is the place for you. If you need a party place I suggest other towns with more lenient rules. And now for the good part....

Nestled against the majestic San Jacinto foothills, this mid-century gem sits on 1/2 acre of lush, mature landscaping with mountain views. Lemon, orange and lime trees mingle with bird of paradise, blossoming oleander hedges and tall glistening palm trees.

Enjoy your morning on the private patio as the rising sun turns the nearby foothills pink and gold. At the end of the day, gather around the built-in gas fire pit with a glass of wine while the sun sets behind the pristine desert hills that are home to the protected Bighorn mountain sheep. Soon the stars will sparkle as you marvel at the stunning mountain silhouette.

Amenities: This single story, Alexander style home underwent a complete renovation in 2014 adding many modern upgrades and boasts all the amenities needed to ensure a memorable, comfortable vacation. We kept the best features: the circa 1957 rock fireplace, the open beamed ceilings, the sparkling kidney-shaped pool and the front wall of windows that look into the desert landscaping and foothills.

Outdoor Living: Relax in the shade of the large eucalyptus tree or enjoy the sun on your chaise lounge next to the sparkling kidney bean shaped pool. The pool area features lush landscaping and outdoor dining seating for four along with four chaise lounges. A second patio directly off the guest king is perfect for your morning coffee. Adjacent to the dining room is another outdoor dining set with seating for four and a gas barbecue. Enjoy seasonal fresh herbs and tomatoes from the salad garden.

Artwork & Lighting: The entire house features original contemporary artwork in every room, most of which was created by the owner during his 35 years as an art professor. Most of the lighting is on dimmers, allowing you to set the mood.

Location: Rancho Mirage is centrally located in the beautiful desert of Coachella Valley. Palm Springs airport is just 20 minutes away. This tranquil location, nestled in a beautiful wind protected cove, belies the fact that world class dining, shopping and entertainment is less than a mile away. Magnesia Falls Cove is a quiet, walkable neighborhood of single family homes. There are no overhead power lines or bright street lights to compete with the desert night sky.

You will enjoy easy access to 'The River', a large dining, entertainment and theater complex located just blocks away. Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, the upscale shopping and great restaurants at El Paseo and Sunnylands Historic Estate are all within a short drive.

Kitchen: The kitchen features all new stainless steel Frigidaire Gallery appliances including a gas range, french double door refrigerator with front access ice/water dispenser, and an easy to reach microwave. The wine cooler will keep your bottles the perfect 55 degrees. Granite counter tops with a lovely onyx back splash provide plenty of counter space. In the center of the kitchen is a beautiful 9 foot long wood island providing plenty of room to prepare and serve dinner. The gourmet kitchen is stocked with quality pots, pans and everything you will need for that memorable meal. Adjacent to the kitchen is a vintage round dining table with seating for six and a view to the garden.

In the pantry you will find olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt & pepper, tea, coffee, and a few other basics. The spice rack contains 24 herbs and spices along with a pepper grinder. Aluminum foil, baggies, wax paper, plastic wrap, parchment paper, coffee filters, dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets and garbage bags are provided as well.

Living Room: The large living room features a cozy gas- fired fireplace, original art, and a large wall of windows looking out to the desert landscaping and foothill mountain views. A comfortable game table with 2 chairs, puzzles, scrabble and dominoes are provided.

Master Suite: The master bedroom is stylish and comfortable with plantation shutters and private access to the pool. It features a tempurpedic style California King bed, an en suite bathroom and a 40 inch flat screen TV and overhead fan. You will find plenty of room in your custom built closets with hanging space on each end and a bank of drawers in the middle.

All three guest bedrooms feature freshly washed duvet covers, down or down alternative comforters and luxury linens and towels.

King Guest: Access to private patio through sliding door, Tempurpedic style California King Bed, built-in closets and 32” flat screen TV and overhead fan.

Queen Guest: Garden view, built-in closets, Tempurpedic style Queen Bed and overhead fan. (No television in Queen Guest room)

Bathrooms: Master bath features granite counter tops, built-in cabinets, European style walk in shower. Guest bathroom features access to pool side patio. Hair dryers are provided.

Blixseth Mountain Park * Just two blocks west you will find our neighborhood park featuring native desert landscaping, walking paths and benches for observing the desert and mountain vistas.

Rancho Mirage Community Park * Less than a mile away, the newly expanded community park features a 600 seat amphitheater, 4 tennis courts, 2 pickle ball courts, basketball courts, playground, picnic area and a trail with fitness stations.

Golf * You are in golfers paradise with dozens of courses to choose from.

Hiking * The Bump and Grind hiking trail, a locals favorite with fantastic views of the valley, is only three blocks away.

Indian Canyons * In Palm Springs, miles of ancient trails follow streams through abundant California fan palm lined canyons.

Palm Springs Tram * Ride up the mountain and hike all day in San Jacinto State Park.

Farmers Market * During season, the Wednesday morning farmers market is a great place to pick up some fresh, local produce. Get there at 9am and enjoy free yoga class in the sculpture garden. Check out the Galen Art Museum, an extension of the Palm Springs Art Museum. You can view the current exhibits at no charge.

About Deborah Lazio

We are an art professor and a concert/festival producer who lived in the gorgeous but foggy North Coast of California for over 35 years. During a visit to Palm Springs in 2012 we fell in love with the abundant sunshine, mountain beauty and amenities of the area. We now live most of the year here and make our home available to VRBO guests when we are traveling.

Why Deborah Lazio chose Magnesia Falls Cove

When we discovered this circa 1957 mid-century modern home on a 1/2 acre private lot with a fabulous mountain backdrop we knew it was the one. It had everything we love about mid-century architecture: vaulted and open beamed ceilings throughout, original rock fireplace, vintage shaped pool and lots of glass with views to the outdoors. It also needed to be remodeled and we had a good time doing just that for the first year.

What makes this house unique

We love the quiet residential neighborhood (it's not a gated community). At night we feel like we are out in the desert, watching the setting sun make a stunning silhouette out of the nearby foothill mountains which provide protected habitat for the Bighorn Sheep. At night-if we are lucky-we can hear the call of the coyotes in the hills or the soft hoot of a desert owl. Yet we are only minutes away from world class shopping, theaters, zoo & botanical garden and so many great restaurants.

You will find this home supplied with plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, wastebasket liners, kitchen sponges and soap in bathrooms and kitchen. We also provide dish washing soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent and unscented fabric softener sheets. In the pantry you will find olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt and a few other basics. The spice rack contains 24 herbs and spices along with a pepper grinder. The tea drawer is stocked with a few favorites. We provide a drip coffee pot, four single serve “pour over” drip cones and a french press, and both cone and basket-shaped coffee filters. We have great tasting water in the Coachella Valley but provide a brita counter-top water filter as well. For any last minute office supple needs, we supply a drawer with the basics: envelopes, tape, stapler...

The best property in the best location with owners who go above and beyond

We loved it! The house and property was incredible, it was like we were staying in our own private resort. The owners were lovely and greeted us when we arrived and toured the home with us - providing fresh fruit and essentials so we didn’t need to rush out to the market. We enjoyed days by the pool and evenings under the stars next to the fire pit. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding was luxurious. The house was beautifully decorated. A quiet neighbourhood, central to everything we wanted to do. We will definitely be coming back. After several trips to the Palm Springs area this is our new favourite.

Just as nice the second time

We stayed here two years ago (with full review), and were thrilled to find it available for our latest trip to the desert this month. It's truly a gem - a peaceful setting inside and out, in a nice quiet neighborhood location. Highly recommended.

This property was perfect for a winter getaway. I have been coming to the desert for 9 years and I love the place. I was so happy to find this home away from home. The kitchen was a great size with a large island. There were the basics for cooking: salt, pepper, sugar, oils, tea, spices and fresh herbs from the garden and a barbecue to cook a great meal. The family room/den was large for stretching out and watching TV in the evenings. The bedrooms were all a good size and most importantly the beds where very comfortable. The backyard was perfect for relaxing in the morning with tea and and watching the hummingbirds fly by at top speed. I also had friendly visits by a rabbit in the early mornings. You are so close to the mountains that I hiked the Bump and Grind trail four times. It is such a great workout. The pool is a good size for swimming or just relaxing on the noodle.

The location is great and it's a very quiet neighbourhood and safe for walking. It is within walking distance of the River which has very good restaurants and Starbucks. It's also close to El Paseo: lovely shopping and, again, great restaurants. Sammy's pizza is a favourite.

The rental company, Vacation Rentals in the Desert, were great to work with and Vicki met us at the house, showed us around. There was a wind storm on the first weekend and the pool and gardeners where there the next day to clean the pool and the outside patios. I would recommend this house to family and friends.

Great stay in Rancho Mirage

The home was very organized and clean. Great kitchen with all the spices I needed to make pork verde. Loved my leisurely mornings on the patio with great coffee, watching the sunrise, birds, lizards and the palm trees in the breeze. I enjoyed afternoons by the pool, playing bocce ball, hiking The Bump and Grind (trail head 6 blocks away), golfing at Rancho Las Palmas (1 mile) and a nice brunch in Palm Springs at Spencer's with shopping afterwards. Evenings were spent watching the sunset over the mountains and gathering around the fire pit with the family. Loved it in the desert! Looking forward to a return visit. I would highly recommend this property. Lisa H.

Didn't Want to Leave

We had a wonderful week in the desert due in large part to this beautiful property. The setting and landscaping of the outside as well as the layout and interior design inside were outstanding. It was a very peaceful and private setting. I know that at least once every day we'd say to each other the equivalent of "what a great place - we really got lucky." The house is clean, organized, and well-stocked for almost any need, and it's quite clear that the owners have put in a great effort to have their guests feel at home during their stay. It's convenient to shopping, restaurants etc, while being nestled in a private neighborhood. Hiking is also close by. Our contact at Vacation Rentals of the Desert was very helpful, and delightful to deal with. We would absolutely choose to stay here again on any subsequent visit.

LIke an oasis in the desert

This is our second visit to this lovely property. The owners obviously have a great pride of ownership as everything is in excellent shape. It is very clean and comfortable and they seem to have everything you would need as you might find in a great hotel. The whole vibe of the house is gorgeous filled with the owners beautiful artwork making it feel very personal.

They have a big TV room where we were able to watch the Superbowl and the other days we used it as our yoga studio. All of the rooms have comfy beds with nice views and excellent closet storage to out your stuff away. It is all very thoughtfully laid out!

But now they have completely redone the garden! They removed the grass and put in an informal bocce ball court that we all enjoyed and an outdoor fire pit! We hung out and drank some good wine and looked at the stars. It was heavenly. The garden is surrounded by plantings like an oasis. It is filled with birds and great views of the mountains everywhere you look. We loved using the pool and now there are areas all around the garden where you can hang out in the sun or the shade.
