Lovely Guesthouse in Historic District
This charming guesthouse is recently built in the craftsman style of the 1900's by the architect owners Joyce Ward and Martin Thommes.
As a separate house, it offers complete privacy and is a favorite for longer stays, family relatives, and honeymooners.
The cottage is located 3 blocks from downtown, theaters, restaurants and shops. It is tastefully furnished, with a kitchenette, opening skylights, alcoves, large windows, mountain views, convenient close parking, and a redwood deck in a quiet garden setting. The cottage can accommodate three persons. There is a full bath with tub and skylight, the private shower is outside.
The Auburn Street Cottage is a chemical-free sanctuary. We maintain it with natural, non-toxic finishes and cleaning agents. In the spirit of co-creating an enduring, healthy living environment, we ask that our guests refrain from using scented personal products (perfume/cologne) during your stay with us. We thank you for taking care of yourselves and others in this way.

Why MARTIN THOMMES - JOYCE WARD chose Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District
We moved to ashland in 1975, and have lived in the same 1911 house since then. We built the Cottage in 1985. We have been legally licensed and operating since then. Half of our clients are returning guests. Ashland has what we were looking for: art, theater, university, recreation, sports, moderate weather.
What makes this Cottage unique

Cozy and convenient
This cottage was a perfect base for our visit. It is roomy and comfortable, has plenty of natural light through its windows and skylights, and it's private. 4-5 blocks from the southern end of downtown, so it was a convenient walk to town and theatre (a couple of blocks of uphill on the way back). Lovely cottage in a charming town.
Lovely spot and very convenient location. Got a spider bite in the outdoor shower which was a drag for me but all else was a delight
Cottage worked perfectly for us.
Pretty. Quiet. Functional. Nice garden spot to sit outside.
This cottage was very comfortable for our family of 3. Loved having the well-stocked kitchenette. The beds were comfortable. The cottage was definitely a nice break from a small hotel room. The outdoor shower was unique, but it's under the deck of the homeowner's house, so that felt a bit uncomfortable having to walk across the yard to the back of their house. Also know, that if you travel when its hot, you are sort of discouraged from using the air conditioning because it's loud for the neighbors. The A/C unit is a wall unit in the entry way, which didn't seem to cool off the cottage the few hours we used it.
Lovely cottage in a quiet garden up the hill from town, could use some updates
My husband and I just enjoyed a quick getaway (3 nights) at the Auburn Street Cottage. The location is wonderful; just a ten minute walk from town. It is worth noting that Auburn Street is up on the hillside, so the walk home is a bit of a climb. No problem for us, as we are fit and healthy, but it might not be ideal for some. The cottage is in great shape and is cozy and welcoming. We were surprised to find that there was no shower in the bathroom, but that is the kind of detail we'd surely have known about if we'd done our homework. The tub was fine for bathing the first morning and the shower in the garden was lovely for the next two, given that the weather was Ashland-perfect.
My only suggestion for the on-site owners is to consider some decor and bedding changes. These felt pretty dated and dusty, especially the comforter on the queen bed. But other than that, we loved it, including the three or four friendly cats we met on our walks and the doe and fawns that were residing in the neighborhood. We love Ashland and this was a delightful place to stay while we got our three day fill of one of our favorite places in the world.
Sweet cottage in a quiet neighborhood
Conveniently located and private, this homey cottage is an excellent value for the price. The kitchen was adequate for breakfasts but not suited for making a proper dinner containing only a microwave and small refrigerator. Clean, with plenty of light and inside comfy seating. A delightful garden patio just outside. Only other caveat: the shower is outside, across the yard in an ivy-shrouded bower.
