Great value and pleasurable stay!

  • 5 of 5

Vijay and Jay are super nice and took great care of us. They live next door so they're attentive and readily available to the guests. The stay felt like a B and B minus the breakfast which was fine. There is a tasty breakfast place just south in Pahoa and the better option is to pick up breakfast food at the grocery store and enjoy the morning on the lanai.

Kids enjoyed wandering around the property and despite our apprehension about no AC it wasn't an issue. The nights cool down and the ceiling fans make a world of difference. During the day it can get warm in the rooms, but it's Hawaii so you won't be spending your day in the room and it's always nice on the lanai which we really enjoyed. I'd get my zen on and sit out at night and listen to all the jungle sounds. We had an oasis in the jungle, but we were surprised at the non-jungle noises at night like dogs barking and what sounded like heavy machinery way off in the distance. I'd sit outside and ponder what people were doing out in the night in what seemed like the middle of no where. One thing we noticed on this side of the island is people want to be left alone. Fences, big dogs and no trespassing signs dot all the properties which I guess has to do with many people I believe come here to "get off the grid". I tried going for a jog off property, but it was too unnerving with all the big dogs charging up to the chain link fences. The owners themselves have pit-bulls and one would always accompany Vijay or Jay when they would come on property, but they did ask if we were comfortable with Sampson which we were as he seemed good-natured and was real sweet with my son, but you can always let them know to keep the dog at their house.

Just stay on property and enjoy the ambiance. The gardens and tropical fruit trees enhance the experience. We enjoyed picking the Lychee fruit right off the tree. It was quite tasty and we got addicted to the refreshing fruit.

They have a book outlining all the cool things to do in the area and the location is perfect for exploring the volcano and the awesome Kapoho tide pools. They have snorkel gear and other fun at the beach stuff for guests to use. It's centrally located so you can be at the tide pools in 20 minutes or in Hilo in 20 minutes. It's definitely a great value as you're getting a two bedroom suite and each room is private so this would be ideal for couples traveling together as well. The bathroom was top notch and the beds were quite comfy. Enjoy!!!

We would come back again. A perfect location for the East Coast of Island of Hawai'i.

  • 5 of 5

The overall experience is very good and would come back again.

We found what was announced.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable for my wife and our two daughters, 18 and 15 years.

We occupied two adjacent suites, with a shared bathroom.

The kitchen was enough for the prep of our breakfast and dinners.

Ms. Jay was very helpful since the beginning.

Before we arrive she answered all ours emails almost immediately.

After we arrived Ms. Jay gave us may hints of how to take advantage of the Island attractions.

The location is perfect for exploring the Big Island East Coast and Volcanoes Natl Park.

I can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was more way than I expected! The Seekers Hive is a beautiful, we'll cared for vacation rental. Vijay & Jay (the owners) were amazing! We felt so welcomed. The attention to detail in both the home, facilities and landscape makes you want to stay forever. My husband, daughter & I stayed for a weekend and the worst part of our trip was leaving. I swear the beds were the most amazing sleep I've had..ever! The weather was perfect, ceiling fans kept us cool & comfy day & night. There's so much great things to say but for lack of space I'll say we will return soon & I will recommend the Seekers Hive to everyone we know will be staying on the Big Island! Ps they have an amazing yard with the most interesting & beautiful plants. Also orange trees with so many breeds I didn't even know existed. I hope to come back for many years and try some of those oranges when the produce fruit. Pictured below is a rose looking cactus, stunningly gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your place with us! Me ke Aloha pumehana, Po'okela, Kaua'i & Austynn Anuhea

Owner's Response: Aloha Thank you for the review; we enjoyed your stay. Do come again. Present day travellers are looking for that unique experience by renting other peopleʻs homes which are much more affordable than the commercial hotels where most times the walls have ears! Renting homes brings an interlude between the hosts and guests that are memorable; best wishes and regards to all of you. Jay and Vijay Karai
