About the Property
4 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom, Sleeps 8
Casa de Las Manos is a nine room house with large kitchen, living room, dining room, gallery, outdoor living room patio, four bedrooms, three baths and a stunning pool. Located just blocks from both the Plaza Grande and Paseo Montejo, Casa de Las Manos is in the lovely Santa Ana neighborhood of Merida’s Centro Historico, perfectly located near shopping, restaurants, theaters and a yoga studio.
What we love about our home: Casa de las Manos is a hidden, private, tranquil oasis with garden and pool in the middle of a bustling city. The house is centered around a living room patio, so we spend most of our time living out of doors! We can walk to fabulous restaurants, galleries, historic sites, shopping and have a yoga studio and theatre across the street.
Come live in Merida, if only for a week or two. Enjoy the relaxed and tranquil lifestyle that comes with living comfortably in a colonial city in the tropics.
Birds, geckos and parrots chirp from the trees as you wake up with a morning coffee and a plate of mangos. Palm trees sway in the breeze as you swim in your private pool in the evening, after a day of exploring the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza or Uxmal or the colonial town of Izamal.
Drink in the surrounding ambiance of everyday Mexican life while you sip your margarita and gaze at the stars on our tower terrace. Have lunch at the cocina economica just down the street, then dine at a 4-star hacienda later that evening.
It’s all within easy reach at Casa de Las Manos.
More. . .The front section of the house is built within the original stone walls of the old colonial structure. This includes the foyer, kitchen, gallery, dining room, living room, outdoor living room and two bedrooms with a shared bath, all connected by an elegant loggia. Many of the original floor tiles were saved and repolished. The stone walls surrounding the garden are also of original construction.
The new building in the back of the property is a three story colonial-style building, with two master bedrooms and a roof terrace, all overlooking the filtered swimming pool that is nestled into the garden between the two buildings.
Each of the bedrooms enjoys a lovely cross-breeze from windows and doors that open onto a private terrace overlooking the pool. There are spacious closets and bathrooms opening onto each bedroom, both complete with air conditioning and flat screen televisions.
Casa de Las Manos is designed for indoor/outdoor living, which is one of the most enjoyable aspects of spending time in the Yucatan. Spend your vacation enjoying many wonderful attractions, all less than a day away, and this beautiful home in the center of all that Merida has to offer. Casa de los Manos - our casa, su casa.
Casa de Las Manos offers the following to its guests:

1 Master Bedroom upstairs with a view of the pool from a private deck. This room has a Queen bed, a private bathroom and a walk-in closet.

Casa de Las Manos is located in the center of one of the oldest and most interesting cities in all of Mexico. As the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan, Merida is the cultural and governmental center of the state, but it is also the traditional cultural center of the entire Yucatan peninsula. As a consequence, the city always has something to offer our visitors.
Everyday, any week of the year, there will be multiple events in theatre, dance or music - often free - to entertain you. Art galleries, museums, shopping, zumba and a variety of restaurants are just a few blocks away.
At the turn of the 20th Century, Merida was a thriving economic center due to the henequen trade. Hotels, homes, haciendas and other grand buildings were constructed with the wealth that flowed into the area. Just blocks from Casa de Las Manos is the Paseo de Montejo, where an evening stroll will allow you to view the historic mansions and the contemporary public art exhibits placed along the sidewalks.
There is much to explore in Merida, and Casa de Las Manos is centrally located, making exploration both pleasurable and convenient. No car is necessary - you can walk or travel by taxi everywhere you go in the city. For excursions to the beach (30 minutes away), nearby Mayan ruins or other towns, rental cars are available in Merida Centro.

About: I am an art dealer/gallery owner and my husband is an architect. With a keen sense of design and style, we have filled this extraordinarily beautiful home with things we love. In addition to art/architecture, we appreciate creativity on all levels - in food, culture, people and our surroundings.
