About Elaine Cowan
I emigrated to Canada 25 years ago, with my family from New Zealand. I am an avid gardener, and are enjoying developing an English Country style Garden. I have also developed a large cutting garden, and design arrangements, and bouquets for a local market, weddings, and other small events. I love living in this little piece of paradise!
Elaine Cowan purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2014
Why Elaine Cowan chose Nanoose Bay
Fell in love with the beautiful south facing property, its expansive view of the ocean and beyond, the privacy, and it's central location. It is a few short minutes to Hwy 19, Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, and close to many attractions in the surrounding area. A nice day trip to the West Coast, Mt Washington, and also Victoria.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Luxurious, and restful place to relax and enjoy, And the benefit of having walk on water ocean front property right outside front gate, fun to watch the ebb and flow of the tides across the shallow sands at the head of the bay, enjoy the water birds, as well as eagles in their perching tree, or nest nearby. The water is calm, which creates a restful place, and makes for easy paddling in a kayak, or canoe when exploring the bay, you are welcome to use B&B kayaks. I Built the home in 2011, and moved in early 2012, and have recently developed the Guest wing, into a B&B.

Daughter loved going out by the water to look for shells.
Thank you !
Highly recommend! Private & beautiful home away from home!
Elaine is a wonderful host & very accommodating with our family. We traveled with our young adult children & we all enjoyed her lovely home, the quiet tranquil setting & kayaking on the bay. The breakfasts that Elaine prepared for us were awesome! We truly felt like we were pampered & it was a blessing for us to have been able to enjoy our stay at her B&B. Thank you, Elaine!
Does NOT disappoint!!
Our stay was everything and more complete with a view! Property is beautiful and spectacular, b&b is 5 star and Elaine is such a wonderful hostess. Breakfasts definitely got you off on the right foot, amazing! Celebrated my youngest's birthday (27) and the census was to groundhog this time of year and come back again.
There is so much to see and do in the area; lots of hiking, take in the Grotto Spa, and come back to the comforts of home.
Thank you, Elaine, for memories we will cherish for a lifetime. xoxo
Where to start? Elaine's VRBO will and does make all the rest pale in comparison. From the beautiful bed linens and fluffy bath towels to a gourmet breakfast each morning, I felt pampered.
The home is fairly new so everything is in excellent shape. Elaine thinks of everything. Hair dryer, curling iron and a flattening iron. I cut myself on a gate and thought I'd check for a bandaid. She provided a first aid kit.
The house is on five acres. Elaine has a beautiful cutting garden. The bay is in front of her home and we kayaked once. We enjoyed watching the tides going out and coming in.
It's a peaceful spot, a beautiful home and welcoming.
Beautiful breakfast at the beach house
We had a wonderful 3 days at Elaine's B&B. Elaine was a kind and gracious hostess. Her place is beautiful, the beach is a lovely place to kayak and walk. Located a short drive to both Nanaimo and Parksville, we had a great time exploring the area. My kids especially enjoyed her friendly pets and the delicious breakfast! Hope to return.
Thank you Lisette, pleased to hear that you and your kids enjoyed your stay at my B&B. I think the location is a plus for staying here, as you are a short drive to Nanaimo and Parksville, yet its private peaceful, and somewhat remote from the buzzle of the nearby towns.
I would love to have you stay again!
