The apartment is located in the historic Avondale neighborhood, convenient to Downtown, Midtown and the medical center, as well as within walking distance to countless options for shopping, dining and entertainment. A Metro bus stop is a block away. This meticulously restored first floor of a historic Arts and Crafts home has 100 years of stories to tell. The restoration included new air and heat, plumbing, electrical, sound reduction materials, and much more. The house boasts original Arts and Crafts antique light fixtures, leaded and beveled glass; tiger oak flooring with inlaid borders and high ceilings. The covered parking is located just a few feet from the apartment.

The approximately 1100 square feet of living space has been tastefully designed by Philip Hannel, who has created a sophisticated elegance that is very inviting and comfortable. Mr Hannel has included original art works and hand woven oriental rugs, blending contemporary furniture with a few antiques as a nod to the homes history.

In addition to being furnished, it also has all house wares, i.e., linens, cookware, dishes, etc. Just bring your suitcase. Maid service is available at an additional cost. The more modern conveniences include: full size washer/dryer, gas cooking, WIFI/high speed cable, two HD large screen TV’s, both with DVD players, premium cable channels plus Netflix.

Less expensive than hotels at $100 per night with all the conveniences of home. The cost is $3,000 per month with a one month minimum lease.

All of my rental properties are historic buildings located in historic neighborhoods. An avid traveler, having traveled throughout the world.

Why Tim Womble chose Houston

I purchased this property for several reasons. It is a historic home, One of my passions are historic homes, in the style of a Dutch Colonial with Craftsman influences. I also own the next two historic houses to the west of this house.

What makes this apartment unique

One of my favorite repeat guest is a Grammy award winning singer and she tells me that she enjoys staying here for several reasons:

1. Close to downtown's Theater District

2. Much warmer and more comfortable than a luxury hotels that she usually stays in

3. The convenience is excellent, park your car in the garage just a few feet from your private exterior entrance, no elevators, long corridors, parking garage that take too much time to enter and exit

Tim made us feel very welcome at the house like we were at our own house, communication between us and him was super easy. We were there for twelve days, we had to ask for favors while we were there and Tim was nothing but accommodation. This is a wonderful house, very comfortable, in a great neighborhood in Montrose / Midtown area. We recommend this house is a great place to stay. We will definitely be staying there again when we go back to Houston.

  • This room is the original parlor of the house decorated in the Arts and Crafts style and still has its elaborate woodwork including a beamed ceiling, fire place, inlaid border on the tiger Oak hardwood floors and beveled and leaded windows. Other feature of the room is the Queen sized bed, flat screen HDTV, large walk in closet, two antique Craftsman night stands, a comfortable and stylish reading chair.

Just perfect for our 3 weeks in Houston! Wouldn't hesitate to book this property again!

This renovated early 1900's house has a lot of character and charm! Hardwood floors throughout. Comfortable and tastefully decorated. The master bed is extremely comfortable. The layout is nice and has just the right amount of space for a couple and maybe a child or two or for a couple of girls or guys wanting a weekend getaway. The Montrose neighborhood could not be more convenient, funky, and fun! Located just a short drive away from the medical center, Rice village and the museum district. Walking distance to so many good restaurants, grocery stores and misc shopping. The owner Tim was very accessable and responsive. The few very minor glitches we had were taken care of promptly. Our little Yorkie, Liza, loved it too! We we're so glad to be able to bring her with us!

Great stay at this property with historic charm, great location and responsive owner!

This is a great separate unit on the first floor of a beautiful home probably built in early 20th century. Beautiful woodwork, lighting fixtures. One reserved spot in the carport - maybe 30 feet or so from door of the unit and very convenient. Large family room, bedroom with a separate, very good sized walk in closet. A separate study. Kitchen is very functional and appliances are updated - exception to the update is the gas stove / ovens which work well and also adds charm - see the pictures. Also a good sized pantry with washer / dryer. Cable TV package is expansive, wifi works well. Location is outstanding with easy access to downtown, Hermann Park, Medical Center, Montrose, Buffalo Bayou, Memorial Park. We walked to restaurants, Kroger, Walgreens, Starbucks. We met Tim, the owner, who is accessible, responsive and nearby if you need him. We are Chicago snowbirds who grew up in Houston, and would hope to return next winter as well. Highly recommend this property!

A very nice rental, near downtown but also near the Montrose and Midtown areas.

This rental is great. We stayed six nights in November (a good month to visit Houston), and were very comfortable. The place is an old house, probably historic, that has been restored or preserved. It is good for a couple or a family with one or two children. We are familiar with this area of Houston, and the place could not be more convenient. It is easy walking distance to Westheimer street and several restaurants. The bed was extremely comfortable, something I greatly appreciate. The kitchen was fine, the laundry worked, the AC worked great, there is cable TV with HBO, there were plenty of towels. I would like to mention that guest parking is a problem, street parking in front of the house is by permit only after 5, so if you have visitors or a second car, this could be an inconvenience. We would stay here again, and probably will. 4 and a half stars.

Family visit

The locations is great...quiet, yet close to lots of local restaurants. It was also nice to have off-street parking in a covered area. Everything was well lighted outside so we had no problem accessing at night. The location had easy access to major highways. The apartment was spacious; loved all the antiques! Accommodations were all very comfortable....but---we need more light in the bathroom!! We managed, but it could be more difficult in the winter to shave or put on make-up. Over-all...we would stay again! Thank you!

It is a Historic neighborhood, the house the apartment is in was built in 1912 by a predominate home builder of the day for the Hutchins family that owned an oil business in Houston.
